Wow, a VERY nice battle level. The design was super fluent and the eye candy was good too. Uses the cool “Metal Mania” tileset and uses nice music from Crusader/QoB that fits the tileset well. Some of my only real complaints were that powerup placement was kind of weird and there were a few dead ends and missing springs, but other than this, this is a MUST D/L. So start downloadin’.
Awesome! As i already mentioned 1000 times before, i just love this style of level creation.
Of course, its mostly the coolness of the tileset that impresses, but really, the level isn’t bad either: the layout of "Ironfang" is very open and fluently playable and the eyecandy is very beautiful. Uses the "metal.mod" music from QoB (as far as i remember) as the background music. Everything else is already said. Just let me note that i do not find the eyecandy confusing at all. We need more eyecandy, peoples!
To sum it up: another amazing level from South Africa and a MUST DOWNLOAD for all you battle fans! (well, lets invite the CTFers, too :-)
(i was undecided between 7.5 and 8)
A beatiful level, with a rugged, industrial feel (of course the tileset is rugged and industrial, but the use of the tileset is superb).
The weapon selection is good and the ammo is well spaced. Nice use of springs too.
Overall, this level is gorgeous and functional. I can see where the eyecandy could be confusing, though I didn’t find it bothersome. This could easily become a favorite of mine. Download it now, or the flying monkeys will be after you!

Not a bad level, really. Eye candy is used quite nicely, and creative, though the downfall of it is it’s a tad confusing. Also, design and layout is quite creative, but not confusing.
Anyway, I’d say it’s worth your download.
i like this level for its use of all background layers and the tileset
its a great battle level
Its a good tutorial for starting people, but some things that are “forbidden” can make a great effect ingame and the explanation of the tutorial is very basic…
I think that cmdr Dats has a very spoken opinion about levels.
Its good to take a look at it anyway, cause most of the stuff in the tutorial is useful.
I like level creation tutorials. :) Like most I have read, this helped me out a lot. This deserves a look at by everybody, even by experienced level makers, IMHO.
Very nice level by Cmdr Dats. Uses the cool (litterally) inferno set, and mind you, Dats uses it well. :-)
The design is fluent, needed a few more weapons as always. I like the eye candy and pretty much everything else.
Get this now! :-)
I warned cmdr dats. :P
FoD: Yes, it was. But cmdr dats accidently posted it on j2o, and it had 6 downloads, so he remade his level.
D’uh, i already wrote a review for this level but obviously Fquist deleted it without a warning :-)
However, it’s still a great level (bit improved maybe, i didn’t found out) that has a very good, open layout and quite a bit of what we call eyecandy. It also uses one of my Top 5 favourite tilesets and therefore produces a great “winter atmosphere”. Conlusion: If i was you, i would really DOWNLOAD THIS right now! After that, i’d host a battle server (hint).
Everything goes into my ratings: including the name, the music, the filesize, the file name, the tileset choice and, surprisingly, the level. And lots of other things prolly. Remember, these are SUBJECTiVE opinions, influenced by EMOTiONS.
And please, ElectroPizza, would you mind not making one comment after the other about our reviews? Better do some reviews yourself :-)
P.S.: This comment will destroy itself in about one week. Because this ain’t a chatboard.
Electropizza, please.
They aren’t judging it by the name. They really won’t give it less points because of it.
Stupid name as FireClaw already said, but another great battle map by Cmdr. Dats. Just what i need when the winter comes at the shores of northern germany where no beaches are and its raining cats & dogs all day long (greetings to the southern hemisphere :-)
Design is very good and open, as always. Same with the eyecandy. Not much to add. DOWNLOAD NOW, host a server and play to get the summer feeling back (good seven points).
Good level, name stinks. :-P
Well, a nice level, if you don’t care about the name.
Design and eye candy are very well done.
I do find it a bit small, oh well.
Pretty average level. Uses the Beach set actually quite nicely. Has a weird name, but I don’t grade upon names. Just like in ALL of Dats’s levels, weapon placement is scarce. The eye candy is OK but I think the Beach set could have been used better.
Download or not? Your choice. :-)
Cool 7th Lava Fall tileset has been used pretty nicely, but size isn’t the best and the events… I saw only few event spots there. The music was so darn cool that I couldn’t stop playing the level!![This review has been edited by Blade]
A nice level needs a nice rating, what else is there to say? See for yourself, you won’t be dissapointed :)
What else would you expect from Commander Dats than a great level using DethMan’s awesome 7th Lava tileset. Here is another one (good design and weapon selection, good eyecandy, quality music choice [but this one is really WAY too large]).
In short: DOWNLOAD NOW!
