Tileset like this was made in the past (the tileset “Froggy”), but his tileset is better and very usefull.
The main bug in this tileset is the sky of the carrotus tileset, but it is not so bad.
I like the idea of combine two different tileset, and I hope you will make another tilesets like this in the future.
Two tilesets in one, like in foomerge? Is it bad, or is it good?
Much could be improved here, at least. Some of the bad masks could be fixed, like the spikes on castle tileset, and it could use new tiles: You could make something that makes the castle blend with the grass, like it would really be built there, you know what I mean. The two tilesets are just sticked together in same…
Improvements in rebuild: 1.8
Also, the pallette is somewhat wrong: Sky and carrots look abit too light in carrotus part. Objects, like Jazz and weapons, look OK. Pinball stuff and snow don’t work like normally in these tilesets, but water looks nice.
Pallette: 2.4
This idea isn’t bad at all, just how you have done it isn’t the best. You could fix things here and there, make your own tiles or something and it would look really nice. Keep doing those tilesets and levels, there must come something nice someday soon!
Pros:
+ Nice idea, allthough it has been used before
+ Pallette is OK
Cons:
- Bugs in tilesets aren’t really fixed
- Carrots and sky in carrotus part looks a little too light.
- Could use more stuff added.
EDITION:
Since the tileset was edited, I removed my final rating. The new tiles look nice.
i was download this and when i run the exanple level i get pink interface(the points and all the jj2 interface). why is that?
Rating New Windows 98
To start
Tonius11 has re-uploaded the Windows 98-tileset. And is this re-upload good? Well… I will be short: no.
Practical: (20 pts)
It is really NOT practical! The tileset is small. There are blocks, but there is not very much choice for a background. And there are also no vines, spikes and poles You can’t make very nice levels with this tileset!
Result: 4 pts
Beautiful (20 pts)
It is not the most beautiful tileset I’ve ever seen! And I think you are very lazy: these things are not created by you. Example: the purple paths are not self created: you’ve copied them from the JJ2 classical tileset from Tubelectric. That’s not beautiful, but lazy.
Result: 3 pts
Orginality (10 pts)
This tileset is really not original, because there are more tilesets about Windows. But one thing is original: the music-fragment. You can use that in your level, but it isn’t nice, because it is short. But the music also doesn’t count for your final rating, because this is a tileset file. But the originality from this tileset is bad.
Result: 3 pts
Example Level: (10 pts)
There is no example level. So this factor does not count for your final rating.
Result: N/A
Total points: 10
Maximum number of points: 60-10(example level)=*50*

Hey it would be nice if u make a windows vista tileset ;)
I made a combination of the three battle levels too (even before this one) and I must say that you could’ve spent a lot more time on the eyecandy and tiling of the level edges (just look at mine, I frequently host it in the RR Server)… Also I didn’t really think the springs were bad. The different Battle levels could have been connected better though.
An updated version of the Windows 98 tileset. Has it improved?
You can still be creative with this tileset because it still has the tiles from the original Windows 98 tileset. There is now more gameplay in this tileset (shooting blocks and trigger blocks have now been added in), but its still missing vines and poles. The Tubelectric tiles are quite pointless because they don’t fit in with the rest of the tileset. Overall, the tileset has only improved because it has slightly more gameplay.
RATING: 6.7
DOWNLOAD?: I still recommend this, but its only a slight change from the original.
RANK: 6 OK
pls make the tileset bigger, more desktop tiles…maybe add a good background than that blue,AND MAKE IT ENGLISH!
I actually quite like this. You can really be creative with this tileset and its really usefull in a computer episode or something like that. And to top it off, you have TWO backrounds that you can choose from.
However, it would have been a lot better if it had the important stuff ideal for JJ2 gameplay (eg. shooting blocks, poles and more tiles that could be animated)
RATING: 6.5
DOWNLOAD?: Usually, I would give an N/A for anythiug under a 7. But this at least deserves to be used, despite the fact its missing a lot of things.
RANK: 6 OK
good one.

Extremely ugly. The background is just one castle and one tubelecric tile just mixed together in an ugly pattern. Ony layer 7 there is just some random JJ2 logos just floating around randomly in midair. On layer 4 there is no eyecandy at all. Just a few of the same blocks on the ground.
The music you chose (KNOCKERB.MOD), sounds stupid in this level and completely spoils the atmosphere.

GAMEPLAY
Not more battle game edits! Why can’t you make you’re own, original levels?!
This is extremly inacurate anyway. They are all smaller now, but they’re flow has been completely spoiled by this. For example, in places where you would only need a red spring to get to the above area, there is a blue spring!
They’re all cramped and are very hard to move around in.

I wasn’t really expecting much from this level. All that has been done is that Epic’s “Battle1” level has had it’s tileset changed to Tubelectric.
Little or no attempt has been made at putting Eyecandy in this level. Only Layers 4 & 8 are used. The same Red Brick tiles are used too much. The background is only the dark red brick tiles used repetitively. Only the yellow bricks have been used on the hills. But everywhere else just appears red. Some of the tiles don’t even join together correctly. The V-Pole below the RF Ammo and the Vines near where the Blue Springs are appear invisible due to the dark red background.
If you look in the top right corner at positions 110,1 – 128,5 you will see a weird inaccessible area with 3 enemies, some weapons, power-ups and items. Either this was put there for no reason or the author forgot to remove it.
SUMMARY
GOOD POINTS
None that I can think of.
BAD POINTS
Repetitive background
Same red tiles used too often.
Some tiles do not even tile correctly.
Weird inaccessible area at the top right.

WRRRY!
There is so very little to say about this level. It’s Battle1, except using the Tubelectric tileset. Badly. The background is a single dark brick tile at speeds 0, the same as is used for the unsolid wall tiles used in various parts of Battle1 like the blue springs area, and the vine underneath the bouncer powerup is rendered nigh-invisible by this fact. The real walls, on the other hand, are all the red brick stuff, no yellow blocks (except for a slope in the bottom left) and no purple strucutures, just the same red bricks all over the level, in every layer, often not even tiling properly. No attempt to add eyecandy is made, nor is the design altered in any way save for the addition of a jazz start pos. The top left corner event testing area is totally unaltered. This level has no visual value, which could be excusable if it added to the original in some other way, which it does not. Hence this is a completely useless downgrade, which ironically has Battle2 as its next level setting – Battle2 uses the same tileset, not incredibly well, but better.
