“…”

That’s about all I have to say when I saw it…

Apart from the fact that I hate rips (oh, sorry, I’ll call it a ‘conversion’), this isnt a rip from the best looking tileset either.

The ripped stuff look fine (practically the whole tileset), but the textured background doesn’t work in 8-bit. I almost rated it badly for not tiling properly, but that was a little mistake from my behalf. The example level showed it tiling wrong, and only on closer inspection did I notice the extra few tiles throughout the set. Just as a tip, next time make it tile correctly in the example level.

Also, there isnt much of a difference in the tiles used. I know its only one tileset in an episode, but thats the bad part, some more couldve been stacked in and made it look a lot more interesting. Yes yes I know you only intended to make the one tileset, but man, giving it a bit more work would’ve helped a lot yaknow, the sets pretty tiny already and a problem with space wasn’t an issue.

Apart from that, I must congratulate the set on having a few ‘additional eye candy’ items to play around with, not to mention the lava animation and some useful ‘key’ triggers. Too bad those come with more problems. Well, there are NO diagonals. That really hinders gameplay and design capablities of a possible level. Apart from that the tileset lacks a load of event tiles like vines, poles, sucker tubes, EXIT SIGNS, arrows etc.

Msg to URJazzCC:
Oh, I get your logic, so you’re saying that the tileset did what it is supposed to do (do a total rip from a game), then it would get a 1-10 depending on how well it did it, and since its near impossible to go wrong with a rip unless you cant make custom palettes all ‘converted’ should get 10 or near 10 ratings. That’s a bad logic if you ask me. Don’t expect us to follow it, we’re welcome to use our own logic, and I would agree with Craccoboy and Soulfire (except his part on modifying the main rating to his own wishes) on their logic used when rating this.

I suggest if you’ve played Hocus Pocus, you go back and play that again, because this is JJ2, and here we do things our way.

This is a very good conversion of the old Apogee hit, Hocus Pocus. It contains most of the tiles from Green Killers sets although i noticed tiles from Hocus 2 that were not in this set.

D/L reccomendation: Yes, especialy if you like Hocus Pocus :)

I love Hocus Pokus, but it is not completed tileset. Tileset needs tiles from more levels.

This tileset is pretty good. It has everytile from the game (Atleast I think it does).

And for those people (CraccoBoy, and piccolo). I suggest that if you’ve bever played Hocus Pocus before, to not rate this. Because this is a game tileset and it is meant to convert A GAME. And as far as I can see it’s done what it’s supposed to. So I suggest you either elaborate your review, or change it.

Awww man, this is ugly!
All ripped, but that is ok when you do a game->tileset conversion, but this is bad.
Man I hate those overratings, and I do want to spoil your avarage.
:p
no,
but I ain’t making my rating higher because of your avarage.
No d/l recommendation.

Is this some kind of joke again like with the Townsville tileset? Not even is it ripped, it’s extremely small, looks ugly and doesn’t have the ‘neccesary stuff’ like poles, blocks, arrows, hooks etc.
Below average, really overrated in my opinion. Though I don’t think it deserves as high as a 5, I won’t give it very low because I don’t want to spoil your average.

Sorry, no download recommedation.

The fourth in the Hocus-Pocus series of tilesets (not including a version Spotty (presumably) made for Foo Races which was incredibly dithered), this is a castle kind of tileset, with blocks, keys, gems, the evil wizard, Fooruman, and a pillar type BG. It’s nice looking, and is versatile for castles. I wish it had more though. BTW where can I D/L the DOS game Hocus-Pocus? Spoy, this is WAY better than the Blode one. =P D/L reccomendation.

Blackraptor. This is the fourth tileset of Hocus Pocus, and thus includes the background of the fourth tileset. Those other backgrounds were in other parts, not that one, so they were not included. Danyjel.
CAN’T YOU READ? This is a conversion of the FOURTH place in Hocus Pocus. The first three have been done before. This is not an entire game tileset!
@Firesword.
Sigh. Look, I told you. Greenkiller’s sets were the first, second and third places in Hocus Pocus (episode 1). This is the fourth, not the entire game.[This review has been edited by Violet CLM]

This is a great tileset of the very greay game Hocus Pocus. I have it, and this looks very well as in the game. It’s almost the game as it look, but the only change isthat Spoopotty Dm. Harhar. t’s very handy too use, for all types of level.

Download this.

XB (Extra Blahblah): You can also make a shooting wizard if you make Wind Right (Left?) with generator. He will shoot Gun 9, the electroblaster.

Wow. I’ve always loved this tileset, and Foo Races..Trafton already went over everything, so all I can give is this rating..;)

Spoy, why did you put your name, but not your Spaz with colors? If you would have included more rabbits, then my rating will be higher..wink

EDIT: Because two foos decided to rate this low, I have changed my rating. It is just a conversation of the game. I suggest you two play the game and then re-rate it higher..[This review has been edited by KJAZZ]

INTRODUCTION
I have always been a big fan of the Foo Races series, and the latest installment of the Greenkiller’s classic Hocus Pocus tileset pack, Hocus Pocus 4, lends great new tiles to the series.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
At first glance, the tileset looks 100 percent like your typical Hocus Pocus tileset. After using it, however, the subtle improvements become obvious. The tiles look great, and the conversion was smooth. I must lend Spotty and Violet a hand for creating what is simply the best JJ2 console-based tileset of the year. This is a highly recommended tileset that you should download now. There are a few small bugs, but they are all forgivable.

WHAT I DON’T LIKE
However, despite the rave review, there is the fact this tileset is, well, unoriginal. Converted tilesets are fine, but effort is some part of my grade. Also, this tileset doesn’t feature any tiles that aren’t found in this game, which could be a pro for those puritan enough to be offended by the prospect of the classic DOS game being corrupted by modern touches, but likely is a con for those more accepting about edits.

BUILDING A LEVEL
Building a level with all DOS game-based tilesets is very straightforward. The tiles did not, obviously, require much matching, and levels looked great no matter how much I tried to mess them up. Amazingly, this was one of the few tilesets truly deserving the title of “fun to use.”

IDEAS FOR USE
Of course, this tileset would be great for use in puzzle and race levels. Few enemies really look natural in this tileset, however, but they look acceptable. This tileset could be terrible if only the bricks were used. Creativity using the potion and key tiles are really what could make or break a level using this tileset.

CONCLUSION
All in all, this is a great tileset and worthy of your download. Despite the fact that it is an imperfect conversion, it is good-looking and easy to use, and is thus worthy of being a Foo Races tileset.[This review has been edited by Trafton AT]

This is an…odd tileset based on the flash movie Blode, featuring disembobied heads, tanks with the Pringle head on it, a very clean musk-ox and some generally messed up stuff. However, some of the mask is messed up, and there isn’t too much eyecandy. A very small D/L reccomendation.

I don’t like this tileset. I think the idea is childish and it shows Adolf Hitler. Yes, I watched the movie Spot never the less it showed Hitler, I think this is wrong. The tileset is ok looking not that great. Good colors.
