8th Dimension (usually abbreviated as 8D) is a Jazz Jackrabbit 2 clan created in May 2005.

Structure

The majority of the 8D members is American or West-European. The clan has, at this moment, 13 members – most of them have been around in the community for at least a few years. The clan is currently led by Ragnarok, assisted by Hitch.

After Autumn 2009, when several of the more active 8D members left the clan, it was decided that the clan’s policy should be changed and new members were welcome again. 8th Dimension is now looking for players who would like to become part of the group.
The clan is currently allied with VerSus.

Creation

8D, or “8th Dimension”, was founded during an MSN Conversation on May 15th 2005, with Yasco, Vivando and ChippieBW. Numerous clantags had already been submitted, but the leadership couldn’t make a compromise about the clan’s final name. The most appreciated names at that moment were St. (The Saints/Vaticlan) or AoD (Army Of Devan).

To ease things up, Vivando made a list with 50 tags and explanations to them. To conclude this remarkable effort, he added the smilie “8D” after he was done. ChippieBW repeated it directly, and several lines further, the three members of the conversation started to try the tag out on their nicknames. It took a while before the name was generally accepted by all the (future) members, because some of them weren’t really satisfied with it. A forum poll was started, and after a while it became clear that 8D would become the official tag for the newly born clan.

Recent history

Since then, 8D begun with expanding its horizons. After a few weeks, 8D’s website, along with a message board, came online (created by CrashMash and ChippieBW), but it took a while to get completed. After a while, 8D suggested the creation of the Cyber Knights Alliance a new clangroup which was to consist out of Cracco Clan, 8D and VerSus.

Later on, however, the clan turned out to be too inactive and in Fall 2009 a number of its members – BlueSpaz7, PurpleJazz, Valmango and Vivando – decided to leave. It would appear it was the clan’s policy not to recruit new members that led to his event. Although the list of members now contains thirteen people, most of them are completely inactive in the game itself. 8th Dimension was a pretty closed clan, for it did not allow any new members. The clan policy was to keep it together, without the influence of new members.

It was just recently when a decision to recruit new members was made. Everyone with a desire to join is encouraged to contact 8D’s leader, Ragnarok, either at the clan’s web site or at J2O.
