Rating Devans Time Machine:

This is a rather good delivery of jazz Jackrabbit. It has six levels, all created from traditional JJ2-tilesets.

The first level is called ‘Lizard Land’ and takes place on Diamondus. With a beautiful context and good placements you must with your rabbit to the exit, somewhere on the left.

Level 2 is also on Diamondus, but only is it now night. The level is called Windy Day and are there at the exit an end boss. For exact to be, the Tuf Boss. Level also this have beautiful eyecandy and the bonussen and enemies have been well placed.

The third level is not on Diamondus. Your rabbit is in the royal gardens of Carrotus. With the castle and a bunch on the context it is splendid. Enemies have been well placed. That also applies to the goodies. Just like at level 1 the exit are left in your screen.

In level number four approaches you the laboratory of Devan Shell. Somewhere in the level a puzzle with block-systems is which you must destroy by shooting or stomping. Here too the placements are well and the context is very well. The exit is the entrance of the laboratory and also the fifth level.

Unfortunately the fifth level is again the last but one. It takes place in the laboratory of Devan Shell. Your rabbit must move on himself between chemical mixtures and metal to blow. The most metal blow reflect your weapon. The eyecandy are very well, just like the placements.
To the end is the time machine of Devan Shell, where you must cover an end boss. The robot from the bad turtle for exact to be.

The sixth level is the final. The level is rather short, but nevertheless nice. The goodies and enemies have been well placed. The eyecandy are super and the game end boss also. It is none one, but it are two bosses where you must cover of it one. It are two clones of Devan. If you cover of it one, Devan deliver themselves and you have finished the game.

Conclusion:
It is a very well game. The more so if you do not find it terrible that all levels have been made of standard tilesets of JJ2.

Rating Battleship?!?

This is a good level with several routes.

The level takes place in a rocket. It is fairly large level. No well level therefore for beginners, you will think. But… there is a possibility within one minute at the termination of coming!

Then only still an end-boss and you are finished!

Therefore both for experts and beginners this level is sticking out.
If you choose other level of difficulty, the level becomes also a piece more cumbersome. For the short route it turns out better than expected, however, but if you take the long route, is it possible very really cumbersome becomes, because for example spike bolls will sit you in the way terribly. Moreover there are thus more enemies. All sticking out.

Dax105 also a splendid context has made. It is simply a superb level.
There is presently also a good number of number of goodies present. Not too much and also not too little.

Conclusion:
For both starting Jazz2-fans and experts this is a very good level.

Okay , a review by me!
Let’s start with the gameplay…like Dx said , this this smooth and easy to play. Meaning the flow is kind of good , you did a good job here. Only problem I found were some float ups which irritated me , but for the rest it’s okay!
Eyecandy…hmmm , I like what you did with this tileset , especially the background ,also the numbers are quite cool. The sounds are quite fun too , I don’t know how you made that. Hmmm , ammo placement could be a bit better , but that’s no big deal. I’ll give you a 7,5.

A very quick review.

Gameplay: The level is very nice. Good placed ammo. Spring placement is alright, although sometimes they get in the way. The flow is very good, but it takes little time to get to the other base. The PU’s are a little bit away from the level though, were probably all the action is, like lonely at the bottom. There’s a few dead ends where springs lead, but these have got goodies.

Eyecandy: This is very good. Some places are a little bit empty though, but some places have a lot again, which evens this out. Little bug though, at the pu the water isn’t in foreground and it just looks wrong to me.

Bugs: Didn’t find any, except for the little bug mentioned above.

Weapon Placement: It’s good, but not really placed in interesting shapes.

That’s it. Download recommendation and an 8.6

Rating The Fat Level:

This is a bad game with a maze that is much and much too hard for me.

The Maze:
The maze is not only a maze. It is a hard maze with lots of warps. It is possible that if you have played it, that you never want to play it again.

No good placements:
I am also not satisfied about the placements, the enemies are not good placed. Too less. And if there are enemies, it are much to much. (and only Fat Chicks)
That’s also with the goodies.

Conclusion:
This game is not worth it.
No download recommendation.

[Inappropiate rating (1.4) removal. Rating should depend on difficulty this much, and no good overview of why the rating was given was given – FQuist]

That doesn’t fit. I have also said that the placements are not good. And I forgot to say, that the eyecandy is also very bad. Poor background and a boring path. Peter is the best one that I know for maze-levels, but also he wasn’t able to do it. So, this level is also almost impossible.

Furthermore it is no original level, because I have already considerable what labyrinths seen. And this level have no story. Therefore my mark remains at 1.4. Is this a better review?
And if not, can I request you this: DO NOT BLOCK ME?

Wow that was burtle. Well where to begain…
1. the tiles: The tiles were ok, or atleast for this story line it was. But you need more decrations, more detailed in some of your levels.
2. the story: This was horrible. What you explane above makes it sound fine. But in the game itself it was no good at all.
3. the levels: Ok, we know how to play the game. The first level was really a wast of time. All you do is tell us how to play then bring in a boss out of nowhere. The other levels had way to many spelling, and story timeline errors. Come on man, you make the story you follow the story. Plus the levels were way to short.
4. Bugs: Way too many, for starters, in the graveyard level you can’t get to the boss unless you cheat. Also when you face Deven Shell he can run strate into the wall and fly away(that is a classic glitch but you should still fix it). Also in the eleiment Earth it is impossable to get through without getting hurt atleast twice, plus you have a good chance at getting stuck in ceiling.

Your bosses and bad guys were too easy. You had the spirt talk too much, and too quickly. Again, the spelling and grammer errors killed the story alot. Not enough levels. Oh and almost forgot the worst part was the “Break the right box or you lose and have to kill yourself” puzzel. That isn’t a puzzel, that is “Your going to die” situation.

I recommond you go over all these levels, fix the bugs, make some more levels. And help the spirt out. Then repost your levels. I will review it again then. Untill then No Download, is the best downloading…

Design: Since the design was really by whoever worked on the Super Mario Bros. 3 team (and the Super Mario All-Stars team), I can’t give a rating on the design. I will, however, tell you that this tileset looks horrible. Thomas failed to use a proper tileset pallete program (such as the readily availible TilesetPal), and thus everything looks grainy and unplesant. Everything is a pain to look at. Beyond that, while Thomas had a lot of room for pretty much all of the tiles used in Super Mario Bros. 3, he only included the first world (and even forgot a lot of things, including the huge steel blocks and the checkerboard ground). 2/10.

Layout: Not so good. There’s open spaces everywhere where you could stick stuff in. If you gave me 15 minutes, I could probably make this tileset 33% shorter. Sadly, this is one of the better aspects of this tileset. 3/10.

Eyecandy: The eyecandy, although designed in SMB3, looks terrible here. The fourth frame of the lava is the same as the first, and the flag, for some reason, isn’t 2x size like the rest of the tileset. 2/10.

Masking: The bane of every tileset creator and level maker. That’s right: Thomas used AUTOMASK. I’m not sure if I can even attempt to create a working level here. 0/10.

Other Remarks: Ninte*n*do is not a trademark, it’s a regestered trademark. There’s a difference, namely the ® and the ™.

Overall rating: 1.75/10. Sorry, dude. Next time try not to make your conversions as grainy, and don’t use automask, those two really hit you hard.

Download recommendation: No.

I thought the levels were great. You made some hard levels, but they were beatable if you knew how to beat them.

You did have one bug tho. In the level where u face 3 bubbas and daven’s robot, I attacked head on shooting the RF Gun. I have no clue what happined but when it was taking the screen to Daven Shell, it froze, wiped out the bosses, and I couldn’t move, nor see myself.

Also, the # of levels was too short, and the reason he got there was preety weak. But I liked the music, the levels themselfs, the enemys, and hope to see X3.
If your a fan I recommined download, but if your not then I wouldn’t bother with it too much. And because of that I will leave it N/A.

OK, I think I know how to rate Tilesets now.

Now that you mention it, after playing it again it looked bad.
Thought I’d try a new rating system.

EYECANDY: There are already about 10+ different Mario Tilesets on J2O and this one is not good. The tiles look grainy. The background tiles are awful, you can see squares on them.
2/10

LAYOUT: The tileset was not made from all the levels in Mario 3. There was LOTS of empty spaces in the Tileset which could have been used to put in the other objects from Mario 3.
1/10

MASKING: EVERY tile was masked, there was no tiles that you could go through. Now I know what Automask is. If I made a Tileset, I would NEVER use Automask.
1/10

EASE OF USE: This tileset would be easy to use but the fact that the Tiles cannot be animated lets this one down. You can’t animate the bricks or ? blocks like in Mario.
1/10

TOTAL: 6/40 = 1.5
DR: No.

Darn, I can’t get the images to show.
BAH! Forget the images.

Straight to review:

Nice synthish backround throughout. I like the drums that used the ‘distort’ effect at the begginning and end. This song would be great for a snow or maybe even a garden or cave level. Despite the samples having a few problems (i’ll mention later) all the samples fit together and don’t sound slightly out of tune.

However, the song feels a bit too much like castle because of the fact that the song is not re-arranged and that there is nothing different. Its feels like just a sample change with some extra-ish bits to mix with the song. The samples doing the main castle bits feel as if they need to be louder and to ‘yell-out’ more. The lead sample is one example.

GOOD POINTS:

Nice synthish backround
Drums at begginning
Nice ‘snow’ effect
Samples fit together

BAD POINTS:

Just a sample change
Quiet samples

RATING: 6.9 (Incredibly harsh rating since its 0.1 away from a DR and a better rank.)
RANK: 6 OK
DOWNLOAD: N/A

EXTRA NOTE: So why do I rate it 6.9.?Well, 6.9 is pretty good, but you wouldn’t get much feeling from the song because of the samples and there isn’t really anything new from the song.

Great level! Really nice eyecandy, funny ways to get the powerups and full NRG carrot, good gameplay. I don’t think there’s that much ammo, and I don’t really find this level that big (maybe because of the big open areas), but still the size and amount of ammo is just perfect! I like the two extra normal carrots too, they’ll make it impossible to be absolutely certain of the enemy’s health if you lost track of him. It’s something I miss in other levels, really.

One thing: I don’t really like the position of the warp targets of the warps to get to the other side of the center tube. It would be better, if their targets were in the top areas with the bevelled ceiling (next to the rooms where the carrots are).

What else can I say? I really enjoyed this level and I’m certain this will be as overplayed as Jungle’s Edge is. I’m gonna duel someone in this today for sure! Good work!

I shouldn’t call this X2
I think its a expansion pack on 1 earlier. Its just too short and with the old levels not a sequel. The levels are quit good though but they can use a little more eyecandy. Enemy placing is good. In your next episode, try to make some more variation in tilesets too too.
