“nobody can play this now”
Oh, I wouldn’t say that. However, after playing it, I almost wish this was true. This pack does not deserve a review with headings and all, and as a result, I am not going to give it one.
The pack starts out with you in the viking village. You learn that Tomator has escaped. Hint: ignore the fact he’s obviously trapped inside the jail. As a result, you run off into a spaceship. The next two levels are spent flying in the spaceship in what has got to be the worst spaceship cutscenes I’ve ever seen. Then you finally get to play a “standard” level, but I can’t say too much for the quality. The background for it is kind of ok, though.
There’s not much else to say about this ‘pack’. It is my opinion you should not download it, whether you have the tileset or not. 2.4.
TILESET/TILESET USE: The level uses (I think) some variation of Waz’s Weirdus. The level is, for the most part, strictly orange and green, which makes for an interesting effect. There is nothing in the way of background eyecandy, and one or two tile bugs could be found in the level.
Pros: It comes off as interesting.
Cons: Nothing to speak of for eyecandy, the blocks get boring after a while.
Rating: 5.0
WEAPON/ITEM PLACEMENT: Basically, there are no weapons other then some fast spawning powerups here and there in the level. The top left corner has some fastfires, too. However, my main complaint in the placement area is the extreme biasedness of the level – towards the author. In one place, if you go in the right combination of warps, you get every single powerup and the bubble shield. Pick a wrong one, and you are doomed to ages and ages of going around in a spiral sucker tube. I can not say I approve of this in a simple battle level.
Pros: Some parts ok.
Cons: Everything regenerates too fast, the secret place, l didn’t notice any carrots.
Rating: 3.7
ORIGINALITY: Nothing much in the way of originality. I’ve seen basically everything here done before.
Rating: 2.0
GAMEPLAY/DESIGN: Hmmm. The level consists of two areas, which can be travelled between by a few green (turquoise?) sucker tubes. The design is nothing incredible, but it’s not that bad. Gameplay’s ok, too, but it would be better with weapons instead of just powerups. And, of course, no author area.
Pros: Actually decent design.
Cons: The author area, you can get stuck easily at one place, a few other problems.
Rating: 6.5
REPLAY VALUE/FUN FACTOR: You can actually get a fairly enjoyable play here. Yes, anyone who gets into the coin tube is probably going to leave the server (which makes sense, seeing as rejoining is muchmuchmuch faster), but other then that you could hold a few people in here for a while.
Rating: 6.5
OVERALL (an average it is not): This is an ok level with a not too inspired design, and a few nasty quirks. The weapons in paticular could use some work.
Pros: Decent.
Cons: A few problems, gets boring after extended play (or looking at it).
Rating: 6.0
Gaa, all ways include tilesets, nobody can play this now. Please reupload with the tilesets included.
Meztempel
ZIP FILE:
It extracts in the folder rxm/Jazz2. This sucks! You can’t run it that way, because it doesn’t show up in the homecooked levels list and since it’s passworded you can’t launch it via JCS. After some annoying copy & paste actions, I managed to open this level.
GENERAL:
The author refers to this level as a ‘temple’ (or tempel, staying at the same level as the author.. ;), but I don’t particularly see this as a temple, more like a blocky level without a real concept. But hey.. This is Mez01!
The level involves some new ideas and they’re OK
BACKGROUND:
Textured, but no other background layers used.
EYECANDY:
None to speak of.
ENEMY PLACEMENT:
Bad. There are very few enemies which makes the level really easy to rush through. The level ends with a Devan Boss which is really easy to beat because of the respawning carrots and the seeker powerup.
MUSIC:
Fits with the level, it’s OK.
GRAMMAR:
You should seriously learn how to spell, it’s awful! The levelname contains one spelling mistake, the description counts six mistakes and the text strings in your level contain even more.
RATING:
3.7[This review has been edited by Electric Ir]
hi hi hi hi hi (Hotel Expansion)
The level name is disturbing and the description doesn’t make sence either. Let’s see if this level’s good though. The actual level name is grazz kid dc’s hotel.
ZIP FILE:
The zip file contains 2 (!) music files, the author appears to not know which files he used. Clever. It also contains the level and a tileset.
GENERAL:
This level starts somewhere where you can choose different parts of the hotel: Casino, Vlinders and Food. The main navigation is by using warps, you can’t really walk freely through the level.
GRAMMAR:
It makes use of the orbitus remix track, so weirdpersonalities shouldn’t have to be included. The author appears to have a problem with spelling (“WELKOM”). A lot of other text signs are in Dutch, or a mixture of Dutch-English.
EYECANDY:
None to speak of. Background is flawless, but I suspect it’s ripped.
AMMO PLACEMENT:
Extremely bad. At some areas it’s really overused, while in others there is none.
CONCEPT:
Just a plain hotel. No original ideas involved, except for the Idols show maybe.
RATING:
2.0.

I like squeals!
The first thing I noticed when I loaded the level was that it had no name… Untitled. Unjustifiable. The level itself is quite simple: both graphically and in its structure.
Graphical aspects: everything is fairly poor simplist and gaudy (well, the background is not gaudy – there are only gray brickets).
Organization: this level is very small, but it was not done randomly. That is what made me give the positive rating. There are already some problems: the powerups are regenerated almost instantly, it’s easy to get stuck in a corner near the toaster powerup, two long straight lines (quite significant owing to size of the level). And I couldn’t figure out how to get to a place where there is ammo (perhaps I’m just a little stupid).

You can make any event hurt by placing a “Bees” event over it (Or maybe it’s “Bee”…it’s one of those). I was torn between making the flower monster things scenery or enemies…
I will add Bowser/Other of those bosses stupid heads in a future version, plus the magical wand thing.
There are event tiles in here, despite what Trafton said. There are tiles for hooks, vines, poles, blah blah. There are also vine things that work as ‘ladders’. A lot of tiles WERE modified to meet Jazz2’s standards.
And that’s all I have to say.
Argh. Argh. Argh.
This isn’t rocky roads. This is a bunch of brown ground, a sun and cloud, ripped poles, destruct blocks and BG, and, well, nothing else. There is no:
Water(Well, you can use the JJ2 water, but that’s not what I meant)
Mud
Bridges
Eye candy (no trees, no rocks, no nothing)
Possibly some more detail on the ground would be nice, too.
You should use a better program than MS paint. I’m sure a lot of people would be happy to reccomend them, while I myself reccomend Paint Shop Pro, if you can buy it.
The mario tilsets is most of the time hard to use. but this one is actually so easy to use that the levels using it are almost guaranteed too sucsses.
The few things that really irritated me is that all the “flowers” and that kinds of stuff cant hurt u! so when u make a mario tilset, please mask the flowers and fire things etc.
But the flowers have almost no effect on the ratings . its just that I dont like the mario tilestes as much as the others. Whort to download? Yes, Yes, Yes!!
It wasn’t generally bad. :P The enemy placement was odd at times, but not unbearably. The weapon placement I really did not like. Powered up bouncies are fine in their own way, but you put too many bouncy ammos in. The seeker ammo was ok, though I didn’t use it really. The tileset useage was OK, though you didn’t have nearly enough eyecandy. Beyond that, good for being the first level I’ve ever seen by you.
Umm, you just said everything but the gameplay and layout is bad and you give it a really high rating.. Okay.
Anyway, there eyecandy wasn’t good, the layer usage was bad. Enemy placement was okay, and it was challenging. You should definetely download this level, but it’s kind of boring to play because it has sort of a linear feeling to many parts.
Exellent? Give a better reason for that kind of rating, Flash.
This level was at least above average, and rather big. There were a tiny bit to much ennemies, and there was a bad weapon placement. Eyecandy was also bad. But the layout was great! And there was a good gameplay. To bad there’s no background scenery on layers 5-7.
Anyway, a good level, worth a download, just to see it.
I give 8.2.
after all those poor reviews, I feel scared to review this :P
man i hate j2o smileys. turn them off.
now, as a side note, the review.
The first thing i thought when i saw this was ‘ugh, another poor Mario tileset’. So, i instantly clicked ‘download’. But i was very wrong. this tileset is not bad at all. It is a very, very good conversion of the classic game. However, i would suggest that, in order to improve graphics and the tileset in general, the author should have used the Super Nintendo version of this game. however, the graphics aren’t Spaztic’s fault at all; it’s an OLD game. The tileset includes all i want to make a perfect foo race. And i’ve already started making a foo race with it. expect that out soon. But i’m not here to talk about foo races. since i’ve talked about how good it is, it’s time to talk about Spaztic’s flaws. There aren’t any, although i still want some Koopas (not just Bowser).
All in all, this tileset is very good, and is definitely worth a download. Get it. Get it now.

Eh, I don’t like it. It’s too hard to see yourself with all the foreground stuff..
Please include some documentation. This has the looks of a very (overly, in fact) complicated level, but you give no instructions whatsoever, so it’s a little hard to review/rate.

Give some credit to mikeejimbo.
[Response by a random person: mikeejimbo did not create this gametype. It was created long ago in a hotel level. -Trafton][This review has been edited by Trafton AT]
Don’t put passwords on your levels. No one will try to edit them. Anyway, I can’t rate this. It doesn’t appear in my homecooked level list. And I can’t look at it in JCS.
—Try launching it using the command line
