Well, almost a year after the release of the first beta version, the future evolution is finaly here. Counting 10 levels, 10 tilesets and 10 music files, this one one of the best CTF packs i have seen here yet.
Eyecandy is without doubt the strongest aspect in this pack. Each of the tilesets was pushed to its very limits, and with a great result: each of the levels looks outstanding, and is makes nearly perfect use of the chosen tilesets. Space stations, other dimensions, chemical labs; you’ll find it all in the future evolution.
Gameplay and layouts aren’t as good as the eyecandy, but still way above average. The first 7 levels are way big, and have very good layouts. Springs and waprs are well placed, and every level has some interesting details and secrets to discover. There are hidden tubes, warps and other fun things included in each level. Gameplay was a bit nasty in some spots, because of some useless obstacles and wrongly placed springs or platforms. The things that kinda anoyed me was that the last 3 levels, Ext-morse, Deeply Rage and Astroni-Ave where a bit too small to my liking. It would have been beter if the smaller levels would be mixed with the larger ones, creating a more enjoyable level loop.
The ammo placement is pretty good in this pack, and i don’t have much complaints or other coments about it. Ammo has been well devided across all levels, making it unlikely that you’ll be runing around with only your blaster to defend yourself. Powerup placement is very good as well. Powerups have all been placed a good distence away from each other, unlike in some other levels I’ve seen, in which you could just see 2 powerups on your screen. Carrot placement i consider a weak spot in most this packs levels. The best way to place carrots in a CTF level, imo, is to put in 1 to 2 full energys, and 1 to 2 normal carrots, in case you use only one full energy.
I’m not too much of a fan of some of the music choices in this pack, but the music selection of especialy the first 4 levels is very good. The pack includes some awesome music files like Skaven’s Return of the cats and Necros’ origenal version of the No Regret song.
To sum it up: the Future Evolution is really a MuSt DoWnLoAd for every Jazz2 player. Like Aiko once said: If you don’t download this, you don’t download anything, because you can’t be a jazz2 player in that case.[This review has been edited by >CelL<]
Well, what Violet said. And:
The drawn things are sometimes a bit ugly IMHO, the masks are pretty bad..
Nice tileset
Edit: jup, a short review.. just read Violet CLM’s and take a little bit of the positive things off.. or something…whatever..[This review has been edited by Piccolo aka SoulFire]
Good! I didn’t have 404 error. (I don’t know why.) It’s pretty good. But not too much eye candy.
Lvl design is so good and there’s good eye candy.
I love Super Mario Brothers! You must continue with World-2
Story is good but there are too many text files and it made me got bored.
Wonderful! Lvl design, enemy placement and all of the others are super!
This stuff is kewlzor, but it would be really nice if I could get the Long Names option in TSF…! :(
Just an idea for a remake of the prog… no criticism…
All my 9.2 are belong to CoolText 6.6.3!
Contrary to my expectations, (my expectations being because “Pyramide” is spelled wrong, the first letter of the author’s name is lowercase, and the pack is in TSF), this consists of good levels.
They all, except for the last one, use Kejero’s “Tomb Rabbit” tileset in a good way. Some parts have bad tileset use, but it’s mostly good.
One original thing is in the second level, the main enemy is the elusive Pacman Ghost, which Jazz/Spaz/Lori does not appear to recognize. They come out of spinning triangles until you shut them off. Fun fun.
At the end of the third level, you get to fight Bilsy. He’s got a working battle arena that looks good, complete with “Morph Machine”, which seems to revert morph you.
The design is pretty good, you have to keep finding keys to open doors, etc. Very nice.
The gameplay has a few problems, such as a few places to get kind of stuck in, and how it gets infuriatingly dark at times, but other then that.
In summary, The Morph Machine is a quite good single player level pack that you could do worse then download.
“Cracco Island” is a 690 (I guess) tile tileset depicting what seems to be a tropical island, complete with beach, dead pirates, and volcano.
It also comes (I think I’m repeating something here) with 5 other versions of the tileset, with small palette changes. Seeing as the textured background doesn’t work properly in the ordinary edition, I doubt it does in these other versions.
Although there seem to be no spikes or sucker tubes, there Are V/H poles, vines, hooks, *, !, ?, Speed and certain weapon blocks (in three colors, each including the mysterious X-Blox), text and exit signs, a rotating warp animation, (non working) textured background, etc.
In addition to the tropical island bit, you can have a beach area, along with what I guess is supposed to be molten walls.
There’s also lots of stuff to lay around on the ground, colorful blocks, some beautiful clouds, animated creatures like in a tileset by _Jaws, water and stuff.
Sadly, quite a few tiles need to be flipped (say goodbye to some of those trigger scenery vanishing walls), some occurances of quite bad masking, as I said the textured background doesn’t seem to work, and the tile placement is a bit annoying at times.
Still, overall, Cracco Island (along with the other five versions) is a good tileset, which I would recommend for the next time you’re making an epic storyline pack.
Edit: Oh, and it’s a tileset, not an “Other”, BTW.[This review has been edited by Violet CLM]
Agreed I tried to edit the post, I can’t, well, sinice I signed up for a new acount, I can use the change for review your level fair.
It’s a fun and different from other CTF levels, I like the gameplay, download recomed.
So Reddy,let’s start.
The tilesets are guite…mmmmhhhh…
useless(‘s that too hard :\ ?)
It doesn’t really make sense calling one of them Bluemania when all the tilesets are nothing but blue.
Levels are nice(I really mean it!:)
If this really is your very first tileset, you will be some great master if you keep training(it’s the Dragonball stuff making me speak like this:-)
Keep it on!
PS:Stop stealing tiles!
This level would seem to be fun to play in (I still haven’t got a chance to really play it yet). It has nice flow, good weapon placement, and the eye candy is alright (but that’s just because I don’t like some of the tiles in the tileset). Everything is good, thus making this a good level.
So go download this and play it online now.
One word overall: WARGH.
The eyecandy is bad. There are some layer 6&7 things, bad use of 5…
Weapon placement is too ***. There are only 1,2,3,4,5,6 normal weapons. And 5 powerups.
Gameplay is bad. You can only go to right, or left poopoo And that is err.. yeah, bad.
Other thingys: Music is a Junglelish music, but i cant say, you don’t may rate the music D*mn! :D
There is a crazy bridge. Some weird text strings.
No, this is like more a Single player then battle, and then is it soo bad…
A 5.5 for the nice tileset.
FQuist is right. It is no problem to host a server that won’t be listed. Just start a TCP/IP game…
Sorry, but something like that programme is quite useless…
Um, isn’t this exactly the same as tcp/ip hosting?
I have the privilage of being the Beta tester. Ha ha ;P neway about the program, this is a nifty prog that allows you to host a level or server without being listed on the Jazz2 server list. This is also handy bcuz if a person guesses your password in “private” then it spoils it. but u can just type in the address and ur there. i rate this prog 8.7.
KILLERRABBIT
Iced Killer

Alright! very good lvl Snow!
I wonder how d’you put that jazz in a crate
good use of the layers and very original stuff in it i only cant find it in the home cooked lvl list so i recommend to fill in “dimension” in the “what level do you want to play” box when being server to play it.
If only he didnt said acces violation so much…
I recomment downloading this.
Imagine missing this lvl, thanks for warning me via msn snow:)
Wack! First 2 bad levels, and now THIS! Wargh!
Let’s see. Very very nice eyecandy. That’s the nice Agama style.
It’s not a test level, but who care? Level outfit is verygood.
It shows good the tileset, what you can do with it. What a nice thingz! (:
Overall: Soeperdapuper nice! :D
And Snowbarf, you can’t say that everyone MUST rate it. That’s too many.
Download thiz.
