JCF thread

Toxic Bunny has posted a look at an open source implementaton of JJ1 that he is working on. It is currently in its early stages and has a large number of bugs, but is still playable. Since it uses the jj1 content, you will need a copy of it to play this. The source code has not yet been released, but as the name of the project suggests, it will eventually come.

See the thread for more details.

If they release the JJ1 source code and are impressed with what people do with it, then they might also release the JJ2 code.

Very cool :D Even though I lost my Jazz1 cd somewhere, it sounds really cool that someone has the source for Jazz1.

Yeah, this should be news.

To program: I don’t think it’s for anything. Yeah, it’s interesting, I like the 1024×768, but… Nothing more ;)

@Michael: OpenJazz is a whole new game by itself, except it uses the originial JJ1’s graphics. Only OpenJazz’s sourcecode will definitely be released, and we know next to nothing about JJ1’s actual source code.

JJ1 was written in Pascal, so even if we had the source code to JJ1 I doubt anyone would want to go anywhere near it. ;)

I still have the Borland Pascal language at some floppy’s. But I didn’t really get used to it and I can’t find them in my trashy room. But I’m really interested into this project, this can have a huge effect on the popularity of Jazz Jackrabbit and may more people with programming experience would come to this community. Altrough I’m still more interested into the release of the JJ2 source code.
