Downloads related news Posts

News has always been a little slow for jj2, and it seems like a lot of things deserving of attention go unnoticed. This is especially present in the downloads section, where a lot of very good content goes ignored.
To try and remedy this, we are going to start making news posts relating to good content in the downloads section. This will not be a regular “feature” like the featured downloads, rather, this will simply be news. Any downloads that are of high quality, good effort, or anything else like that, will be deserving of mention in the news.
Hopefully, this will make more people realize when something good is uploaded, and encourage more people to review it. I’ve made this news post just to get the word out to people, since j2o hasn’t really done this in the past and I want everyone to know what’s going on.

How often will theese be posted?
And will older downloads gone unnoticed still be mentioned?

For how often, I’m not sure. It depends on how good the stuff uploaded is. The news posts themselves won’t go into huge detail though, and their tone will be rather “neutral” compared to the featured downloads. The intention of this is to create attention for stuff, rather than give a specific review of it.
Also, since this is downloads related news, older downloads won’t be covered. Old things aren’t exactly “news”. Ideally, the news post should be made within a few days of the upload being put on the site. I would, however, like to see older uploads covered by some other sort of feature. To me, the more coverage of stuff like that, the better. I think the downloads section has gotten a little stagnant, and everything we can do to help it is good.
Another thing I’d like to say is this isn’t a one admin thing. Anyone who can post news should feel free to post news related to downloads, whereas with features (such as featured download) it’s pretty much limited to one person. This isn’t meant in any way to interfere with featured download either: where featured download covers the absolute best upload of the month (or two months, or whatever), this will just focus on anything that is merely “good”.
