New Ranks and Quick Reviews

It took a while, but there’s now a new ranking system not based solely on number of reviews. See Reviewer Ranks to learn more.

In addition to that, users are now allowed to write quick reviews, as originally suggested by Lark (Labratkid) here. This means that reviewers now have the option to reviews without any explanations. Quick reviews just aren’t worth as much as normal reviews, and they don’t count towards a reviewer’s rank. For more information, see Review Rules.

How the Download Information page is displayed was changed a bit, as well as several other pages not worth mentioning. Also be sure to take a look at the Top 40 Reviewers and see your competition!

This all looks wonderful. Hopefully we should start seeing a lot more orders for new keyboards pretty soon.

Today is Unofficial Programmer’s Day, the day in which programmers should be honoured. What better day to release this? Three cheers for BlurredD’s awesome coding work :o

The purple missile stands for the number of reviews you have, the gem is for the number of featured reviews, and the carrot is for?

FQuist on 14 Sep 2007 at 12:10

Average helpfulness of your reviews.

awesome :) i’m really glad you guys took this into consideration. and that top 40 reviewers thing looks tempting, i kinda wanna be #1 on it hah. maybe i’ll start reviewing good stuff again.

haha, i was just browsing the website and i went to click on downloads and i like just glanced over the news paragraph, and i was like, wait, it says my name!

Very nice! Good reviews are very rare lately, so this is a wonderful change. My old account is in the top 40. ;p

Once again, thanks for your work blur :)

Hey… I apparently have the most featured reviews out of everyone. Neat.

Blackraptor on 17 Sep 2007 at 12:48

660 points? This system makes me look almost godlike.

I will miss my custom title, though :(.

blurredd on 17 Sep 2007 at 15:02

Aside from points being easier to get compared to the old system, the minimum for a custom title was changed to give older reviewers a little extra incentive to write reviews again. Blackraptor, you could get to 1000 if you write around 200 more reviews, and much fewer than that if you write a lot of featured reviewers.

Blackraptor on 17 Sep 2007 at 21:19

Seeing as I’ve only written maybe 30 reviews in the past two years and I’m not getting any more active, that’s never going to happen ;P

ZAPPER on 27 Sep 2007 at 21:50

I think the way you are ranked helpful is unfair because nobody has to give a reason to call you unhelpful, and then your reviews are looked down upon.

Superjazz on 29 Sep 2007 at 08:03

Very good point Zapper. I will hopefully start reviewing a bit again soon.
