JCF Thread

Anyways, I was going to work with j2nsm and j2o about how to do this correctly, and then realized I really don’t think anyone deserves sole access to [the source code], so I decided to share this with all of you. -Nimrod

Nimrod and Digiex partner Insanenutter have, after a visit to Epic Games, unexpectedly received the source code to JJ2 (v1.20) by email. It’s not perfect, obviously, there’s no Lori or trigger zones or stuff like that, but this is a tremendous step forward for the JJ2 community. Expect to see all manner of discoveries being made in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead, and if you know the language, please help the community and make some of your own!
Read about the release here.
Download the source here.

I“m downloading this right now to see what it is. Probably an April Fools Joke.

sonicnathan 1 on 1 Apr 2008 at 03:00

Sorry for the double post. I have no clue. i can’t get the .EXE to run and the thing is missing lots of resources. I’m probably not doing something right so if you could help thanks!

sonicnathan 1 on 1 Apr 2008 at 03:05

Again you can delete these but it’s an April fool joke! in the things like .net it repeats April Fools. Don’t download. A well though out prank though!

DanYjel on 1 Apr 2008 at 03:54

you got me. again.

Slaz on 1 Apr 2008 at 06:19

When I started up my PC this morning I thought by myself ‘Hey it’s 1 april let’s check J2O to see what they made up this year..’ and I was surprised that it was about the source code, even worse than the 1.25 fix. MyRabbit joke was kind of funny, but this one didn’t made me lol out too bad..

Why is the file 43.8MB though?

EvilMike on 1 Apr 2008 at 06:53

someone has a lot of bandwidth to waste

master sven on 1 Apr 2008 at 06:54

I had the same idea as Slaz, it’s getting predictable.:P Maybe a better joke will be to not have one next year. That will make them search.:P

Haze on 1 Apr 2008 at 08:11

Not cool, guys. Not cool…

My suspicions grew when I saw the timestamps. But the kicker was the filesize. When compared to the filesize of the 1.23 sources from Shadow 44MB seems amazingly small. It seemed highly unlikely that the sources grew another 70MB from 1.20 to 1.23. :p

NovaStar on 1 Apr 2008 at 09:25

…yeah. You need better April Fool’s Jokes instead of “OMG JJ3” or “OMG JJ2 SOURCE CODE”.

srsly. At least MyRabbit was SOMEWHAT AMUSING

Vegito on 1 Apr 2008 at 09:41

Well, I for one second thought “what.” However I was prepared for this ;)

BúññyÉlmér on 1 Apr 2008 at 09:45

Thats a very obvious 1 april joke

Lark on 1 Apr 2008 at 10:45

well, I didn’t know for sure, cuz I mean, I saw this last night at about 10pm. But I guess in FQuist time that’s into the next day. Hah I had some hope to be honest.

FawFul on 1 Apr 2008 at 13:39

:l… good joke, you guys got me.
but not funny though.

FawFul on 1 Apr 2008 at 13:42

:l… ok, you guys got me.
but not funny though.
it’s a bit to important to joke with…

Violet CLM on 1 Apr 2008 at 13:59

thank you st louis
although to be perfectly honest I posted this without any idea it was a hoax, I saw crazy files of all sorts that I didn’t know what to do with plus a random epic logo and that was good enough for me. I was very happy and have since had my soul crushed a little.

Valco on 1 Apr 2008 at 15:45

I wasn’t fooled by this. I was actually expecting them to pretend to release the source cod, it’s an obvious gag.

Valco on 1 Apr 2008 at 15:49

Ignore my above post.

Who’s stupid idea was it to tell everyone this on April Fools day?! Seriously, half the community own’t believe it.

sonicnathan 1 on 1 Apr 2008 at 16:01

I didn’t believe.

Nonomu198 on 1 Apr 2008 at 19:12

MSB3000 on 2 Apr 2008 at 04:28
