A fix for connections timing out?

Do you find yourself still getting the Connection Timed Out error in JJ2, even after hours of messing with the router and dozens of attempts with the JJ2 UDP port chooser? BlurredD’s newest announcement might be your chance:

Cpp and I are trying to figure out why exactly some players timeout after joining a server, but we need testers to do so.

By helping BlurredD and Cpp (formerly Overlord) test their new work, you not only have a chance of properly playing JJ2 online, but you also help out other people troubled by timeouts :o

How can I help? (I currently CTO without JJ2UDP)

you know what’s really weird? i don’t even talk to blurredd or know much about him anymore, but last night i had a dream and there was some fat kid in it who i knew was blurredd who said something cocky to me and i grabbed him and made him understand we could be cool but he wasn’t going to run his mouth and he’s all like “ok, man, i’m sorry!”

weird.

I remember some kind of similar dream involving community members, but that was at the time when I was still part-kid myself and began to learn proper communications on websites like J2O. Hmm.

And I always CTO without using JJ2UDP, it doesn’t really matter which port number I use with it as long as it’s forwarded. I’ve been experiencing this since 2004, and it appears that at least Sweex, SpeedTouch, and Thomson routers are conflicting with JJ2 as I’ve been using various models of those brands since then. ADSL or Cable internet doesn’t make a diffence either, but I guess that speaks for itself.

Oh boy.

I get the error on any game I join, in JJ2 1.23 (<— I think that’s a custom patch) and 1.24 (original, though someone may have tampered with the CD).

If you want to help, post in the JCF thread. We need as much input as possible.
