New JJ2+ Release

BlurredD has released a new version of JJ2+. It contains a huge number of fixes and additions; too many to list here.

The biggest addition is that servers can now support a maximum of 32 connections (the previous limit was 16). Note that for this to work perfectly, both the client and the server have to be using the new version. This will be important if the bash server decides to allow 32 players.

Other additions include a Lori Start position event, improved server admin functionality, and the display of pings in the player list.

If you encounter any bugs, please post them in the JCF thread.

Blur, can you make chat in level download progress?

Very Cool, but this updated one has worse C’s bug than old one :P

I suggest “gag” function. If is someone spamming, admin can gag him ex. /gag (value must be in seconds). I know that there is a forum, but can’t visit it atn ;)

32 connections?! OMG!!!

FawFul on 11 Apr 2010 at 09:24

as the jj2 chat is small and spammed i wonder if it could be better to filter any kinds of stuff, like an spectator chat and /msg’s.

Ninja on 13 Apr 2010 at 22:42

Like JJ2 would be anything but a chatroom with 32 people playing at once. :P

FawFul on 14 Apr 2010 at 12:33

Still, those additions could be awesome and even no-one wants to chat. There is no way you can find out that someone scores or if someone capped, also CTF codes and loads of more messages are things you can never find back in that huge mass of chatspam.

EvilMike on 15 Apr 2010 at 08:09

There are some rather large levels which could work with 32 players. CTF would be hard to do, but still possible. Though 16 would still work better. LRS would work well though, and so would elimination tournament formats, or pit fight (where you have lots of spectators).

I think a spawn delay would help a lot for regular gamemodes. But right now the only way to do that is to edit levels.

I want to make my singleplayer level working in MP. The 800×800 one. I’m worried if 32 players will be enough.

blurredd on 15 Apr 2010 at 14:37

LRS barely works with 16 players as it is. Either the game starts out excessively chaotic, or it drags on when there are two players left. In my opinion, the only situation LRS with a lot of players can work is if it is used with a timed game in a moderately large level.

EvilMike on 15 Apr 2010 at 22:21

Yeah you’d absolutely need a time limit and a large level, I was just assuming that would be the case.

3h would also help, once the initial chaos is over. When I’ve hosted LRS games, I’ve often decreased the maxhealth as time goes on, in order to speed things up.

Still I think it’s far more suitable than regular battle, due to how large scale games can devolve into a bunch of people sticking to one corner of the level in order to get the most kills. Plus, LRS means that you will only have the full 32 for a short while, since people will get eliminated.

I imagine Ground Force would be good with 32 players, if you could get someone to make a level huge enough.

I want to see what happens next time Tower of Death SE is used in an event…

SPAZ18 on 16 Apr 2010 at 17:24

Will JDC servers use 32 connections or stick with 16?

Superjazz on 16 Apr 2010 at 19:10

I guess that will depend on planned event types and lengths.

Vegito on 17 Apr 2010 at 09:41

And above all: Lag

Slaz on 30 Apr 2010 at 11:14

Even with lag, it could be a cool ‘experiment’ of some sort. a 32 player zombie game perhaps.

Umar on 1 May 2010 at 11:38

give me jazz that will realy hit me without pain
