G4tv.com recently aired an interview with Cliff Bleszinski, Jazz Jackrabbit 2’s co-producer and Epic Games’s lead designer. Near the end of the interview, Cliff answered viewers’ questions. A viewer named Shan D asked, “Where is my Jazz Jackrabbit 3?”

In response, Cliff stated that Jazz actually had a new pitch which was presented to his team members. After a while, however, talk about this new concept for Jazz Jackrabbit died down within the company.

However, Cliff says that he really wants this to happen, and the G4tv.com hosts agree.

To listen to the full interview and learn more about the new pitch, you can visit G4tv.com and click the link to download the full audio clip of the interview.

I recall Cliff mentioning this in some XGR (Xtreme Gaming Radio or somesuch) interview from a while back. He described the pitch as a “modern take” on the old Jazz formula.

In other words, Jazz has become a ninja. No questions asked.

The interviewer also repeatedly referred to the game as “Jazz the Jackrabbit” and sounded nothing short of the Half-Life G-Man.

FEMALE: Actually, Shawn Dee (probably ShanD) writes in, and she wants to know… “Where’s my Jazz Jackrabbit 3?”
MALE: Where is…
MALE AND FEMALE: Jazz Jackrabbit 3?
MALE: We actually have, a uh, a Pitch for the new Jazz Jackrabbit.
FEMALE: (gasps)
MALE: Yeah.
OTHER FEMALE: Oh, Johnny’s gonna be so happy!
OTHER MALE: Oh here’s the pitch that you’ve shown me before,
MALE: It is the pitch. It was like, Ja—
OTHER MALE: You know, sort of like, the…
MALE: Jazz has kind of evolved into this almost like,—
OTHER MALE: …jackrabbit, apparently right?
MALE: —super-Uber-pimp character.
FEMALE: (giggle)
MALE: You showed me these drawings probably, like, two years ago?
OTHER MALE: Yeah. And he’s going, he’s going against the turtle Mafioso, right? Whereas, like, y’know, Devan Shell, who’s the enemy in the original Jazz Jackrabbit, has kind of become this Uncle Junior type figure, wearing like a y’know, a Sweatsuit and everything, and uh, we pitched it around town, we got a couple nibbles, uh, everything’s kinda gone quiet on it. (quiet) But I want it to happen.
FEMALE: We all do!
OTHER FEMALE: We all do.
FEMALE: We all do. Shawn Dee, I know you do.
