CliffyB has "moved on"

CliffyB posted an FAQ on his new tumblr account yesterday. The money quote:

Q. When will we see Jazz Jackrabbit 3?
A. That’s in Epic’s hands now. I never really cared to make another, to be honest. I loved Jazz, but I’ve moved on.

It’s unclear how this jibes with, say, missing Jazz back in March, or wanting to see Jazz on XBLA in 2007. But maybe all those times in the past he’s said similar things he was operating under an offical Epic Games policy to think a new Jazz game would be nice, even though they have no plans along those lines, and now that he’s not working there he’s free to state his mind? Who knows. Point is, if you’d been planning on capitalizing on CliffyB’s leaving Epic Games to try to convince him to make JJ3 on his own, don’t do that.

To be honest, this post has actually got my hopes UP, because I thought that Cliff Bleszinski owned the rights to the Characters, and that without Cliff, Epic had to have permission to make another Jazz game.

So yes, I am now happy to know that Epic could do something Jazz related if they wanted. I mean sure, this hasn’t changed anything really, but it’s given us conformation that it is a possibility, and not just a pipe dream.

So it turns out all that time he didn’t care at all? He gave us the finger now? WTF?!? That makes me so mad! #@%$@#%#$@%!!!

And I agree with Robo4900. Now I think he’s leaving is for good. He fell of the cliff, as it seems.

But most importantly, what’s Epic’s response to that question?

they’d lose money if they made jj3, guaranteed. rofl.

++bitter newsposts

I was not in a good mood when I came across that post and it really didn’t help. :( In retrospect, it does come across as kind of bitter, yeah.

Grytolle on 9 Feb 2013 at 20:08

A perfectly normal reaction, though! I felt the same, eventhough I don’t give a damn about JJ3, but luckily I didn’t have to write any newspost about it. :)

I don’t take this comment too seriously. He probably wrote that FAQ during one of those days he woke up missing the industry.

If you’d personally meet him in a cheery mood, and ask him if he still loves Jazz, I believe a big YES would be the answer.

ShadowGPW on 11 Feb 2013 at 12:19

He is not saying anything new. In an old interview that i had with Cliffy he is basically saying.. ‘‘I don’t care, i’ve got new projects now”

Where did you hide Jazz Jackrabbit?

The fans are almost killing you with the blaster! It’s been almost 10 years since we saw Jazz Jackrabbit 2!

We’ve been busy making bloody games with chainsaw guns on them. The kinds of games that I’ve worked on have been a reflection of what I’ve loved at the time. When I was working on Jazz I loved Sonic and Mario.

Let’s think about this. CliffyB, one of the only people who would actually care about the series doesn’t give a fuck about it anymore. Epic doesn’t care about it because JJ2 was the only game they’ve ever lost money on. There will never be another JJ game. If you want another one, work on a JJ-inspired fangame. KKpzl8

Aliens have invaded earth

Love & Thunder on 27 Feb 2013 at 16:58

Except Nick Stadler wouldn’t be able to make an entire game by himself(As far as I know anyway).
Although he is a great artist, and I am not denying his hard work on both Jazz games he worked on.

I want JJ3!

Beyond the initial shock, I can’t say this surprises me very much. Cliffy B has long been the last significant Epic Games advocate of the “Jazz Jackrabbit Revival Movement.” I’m sure he’s sick and tired of all the angst surrounding this issue.

Here. Just for comedy’s sake, I couldn’t resist. And yes, I know the audio quality could be better.
