I like the idea of this, but it hasn’t been carried out in a very good fashion. There are no instructions, and the interface isn’t very easy to understand. The point of this program (I think) is to select specific levels to hide in ones home-cooked levels list.

Basically the user selects specific levels, one at a time, using a file open dialog, and then checks a box if they want to hide it in the home-cooked levels list. Then the user must click “Apply”, and then the user must click “OK” to a “Ready” message box. For people who have 1000+ levels in their JJ2 folder, this is way to bulky and annoying to use.

This program would be much better if you could view a list of your existing home-cooked level list, and then select levels to show in it, not select levels to hide. The common dialog shouldn’t be used, and instead there should be a listbox with checkmarks, or some other way of selecting more than one level at a time.

I don’t think that very much work was put into this program (relatively), and I think that TK, you could spend a bit more time on this to make it a wonderful program for everyone.

What is the correct filename for the tileset?

When you upload levels, don’t change the filename of the tileset. When I try to play it, it says it can’t find the tileset. When I try opening the level in JCS to find the correct tileset filename, the level has a password. That’s another thing, don’t put passwords on stuff when you upload them.

What is the proper filename for the tileset?

When I try to run the level, it says it cannot find the tileset (although you did include it). What should I rename the tileset to?

I would check myself, but there is a password on the level (passwords are NOT a good idea when you want people to review levels)

I think this is one of Bjarni Cool’s best levels. You are getting better! :)

I really liked the idea of the level, having the enemies as Pokémon. The use of the tileset was good (I couldn’t find any mistakes). It is still pretty boring though: Very linear, except for the drop at the end. The background was just plain blue sky, and there was no music. No weapons or food, and the boss ran away at the end before I got a chance to beat him (I don’t know why this happened; I’m not very good at the use of bosses. But you should fix that.)

One more thing: change the invisible blocks into stop enemy events. I know you have trouble with those events, but just try and figure it out, because the invisible blocks were very annoying.

And Bjarni, don’t rate your own levels or you will get banned from here (I think).

This is the most useful tool I’ve ever seen for JJ2. Thank you Cheeze, for making this :)

Basically, this script connects to a JJ2 server and finds out what level is currently playing as well as all the players online. It is very easy to use, with a simple menu interface. You can select what list server you want to use, and then you can view the server list and pick a server right from it. Then it will connect to the server, and retrieve the level filename and the names of the players on it.

I only found one bug: When a server has timed out or something, if you try to connect to it with jj2srvinfo, the program will just sort of freeze (requires a Ctrl+C to get out of it on Linux; I haven’t tried it on Windows yet). But other than that, it is good! An upcoming J2HG project, codenamed XJJ2-2 will probably incorporate this into it, for ease of use without an interpreter, and a nice “Windows” look instead of text-based.

Hawkin, don’t make fun of people.

Well these levels were ok, but I liked your garden ones better. These had very little background detail and were quite short. The same enemies were used in excess in each section, making it boring.

The second level seemed to be a modified version of an official level, because the title was the same, as was the background and the music.

The third level was either unfinished or you didn’t test it, because I fell to the absolute bottom of the level (where you get stuck) after I went up the ladder. Even after I used jjfly, I couldn’t find any end to the level. I had to type jjnext to pass the level.

There was no eyecandy or extra events (like food or carrots), except for a whole bunch of flamethrowers at the beginning of the pack.

So…sorry. I gave you an extra .5 again for effort and because you are new to making levels.

SHORT!

The first level I finished in 9 seconds (I timed it the second time). The other one was a bit harder, but still really short.

No start positions.

The backgrounds were good though; use of multiple layers and parallax.

All the weapons were placed at the beginning, and both levels involved flying with an airboard over a bed of prickles while dodging heli-lizards.

The boss was hard…but why was the next level setting for Victorian Secret (colon1.j2l)?

So the level rating is 4, but I gave you a .5 extra for effort and since it looks like you are a first time level builder.

You people don’t understand…this was supposed to be a JJ2 REMAKE of the JJ1 Episodes. Not a copy. That is why he didn’t use the JJ1 tilesets.

Well some things were missing, like right at the beginning there was no one way on the tree so I couldn’t get up to get the bird. Also some secrets weren’t included.

But I really liked the secret level. It would have been more fun as a bird though (and then just have a morph back to jazz for the boss).

On the boss level, the underground weapons were missing. I also think that the boss chosen wasn’t the best one (too hard for the first episode). I would have used that octopus with the mines spinning around him.

Some things were just perceptions too…like how everything looked smaller. But I played it in fullscreen 320×200, and it seemed a bit more like JJ2.

The blocks were spaced properly, and it looked just like the JJ1 Diamondus, Tubelectric, and Medivo (other than the tileset). It is too bad they didn’t include those turrets in JJ2, though. I can see you put a lot of effort into this, and it definetely gets a d\l recommendation from me! :)

Sorry about the | thing. I’ll figure out what is wrong and re-upload it as version 1.10 ASAP.

TSF compatibility will be in version 2.x, because I have yet to find the memory addresses.

Ummm…you didn’t include a readme file, so how do I know which level to start with? I tried entrance.j2l, but its next level setting is missing, so I’m assuming it is the last level. I looked through some of the other levels though, and I can’t figure out which one to start with. Did you test the whole pack before uploading it?

Really good… It is easier to use than the other cool texts, because you don’t have to enter in things separately.

And Executor, this program isn’t for colour only; it can do stuff like çþßéñ etc…which you can’t type in chat normally.

I really like this tileset. Everything is covered in green slime, and I like how the purple background is falling in the example level. There are those background slime things which are like upside down drips and a few other slimy things like the stalagmites (or is it stalagtites).

I think a few more eye-candy things would be good (one thing I think would be good is bubbling pots of slime, as well as some drips that you can animate).

It would have been nice to make this tileset for 1.23, because I want to use it for a level for 1.23, so that might be something to consider if you make a new version of it.

But overall this is great, and I also got a new music file to add to my jj2 collection.
