Again bored out of my mind so it’s time for another round of Rate that crappy download!

The review
Normally I split up my review to make it easier to read, but I can sum everything up here. It’s just a bunch of random pictures put in a tileset with the email of the author. The message says to email him on how to make a tileset but how are you supposed to learn from this. He doesn’t know that much as you can tell because there’s no mask and the black isn’t replaced. If I wanted to learn, I’d talk to a professional tileset maker like Blade.

This “Tileset” doesn’t help people make tilesets at all. It is just some pics of a dog, a person and a mouse. This is nothing to do with making a tileset. It just shows that you can use ripped images in a tileset. If you want some images then download this, otherwise don’t download this.

Ok, I saw that someone gave the first review with a 6, well, I’m going to find out if this is really a 6.
Gameplay: Bad. The gameplay is really bad. I saw only a few springs and some unnecessary events.

Eyecandy: Very bad. I saw almost nothing, there was a background but it was not complete. That makes it very bad and there were no other things here.Rating: 1.
Pickup placement: Bad. The ammo was way too many and the powerups were ok placed but there were 2 RF power-ups I dont understand that. There were some carrots and full NRG, but it was too many.

I’m sorry but this level is way too bad for a 6. There were many bugs but for its size it gets a 2 instead of a 1.5

No, I don’t like your Hotel Parika.
Barely any eyecandy tiles, nothing to build with, no background, ugly, and just awful overall. No download reccomendation.

I tried doing something like this not so long ago, but I gave up because the results weren’t very pretty. I give you a 3 because I pity you.

Useless. How can we learn to make tilesets with this ?

Trafton has covered most of the points here (as usual :P)…

The background is pretty good. It would be nice if you could mix and match the background tiles to make some sort of spaceship or something.
The foreground part of the tileset is mainly ice, with it being Frozen Planet and stuff. The ice actually looks quite nice – there are floor and wall tiles, and corner tiles. I was slightly annoyed by the lack of the inside corner tiles to make rooms with.

I know you said not to say that it needs this or that… but maybe that’s why all the reviews have been so short. There is a complete lack of anything except the foreground ice tiles. Add some more stuff. You’re getting there, what’s in the tileset already is good and it has great potential – but it just needs some more stuff.

Also the example level is weird – you can drop to the bottom easily, and there’s a load of little bits of level floating around the place. This needs work.

Overall it gets a 2 and no download recommendation…yet. Keep at it.

Not good, I wont even rate it…

I made this tileset for trying to make tileset with many colors not in 256.And this one is my first with many colors.

EDIT: This is not TSF. I recommend you do not label it as so.

When I downloaded this, I was not expecting much. After all, the above reviews are a bit short of glowing to say the least. I was disappointed by this tileset greatly, but it still shows some promise. The tileset conists of only two types of tiles. The first is the background, which is black with small white stars. The second is the apparently frozen ground, which consists of somewhat nicely textured blue tiles that sort of look like a stirofoam (sic) cup. These ice tiles, when used, did not actually look half-bad. In fact, I would not have objected to this tileset at all if there was just a lot more eyecandy. However, with this tileset, that is all you get. There is not any background or foreground eyecandy at all. There are just stars and then ice. Nothing more. This tileset does not show very much effort to speak of. Aside of the high-qualityness of the tiles, there is not much to be surprised about. The tileset is way too small, though it looks OK. Overall, I can not say that I hate this tileset as much as the other reviewers. Still, it is really, really bad and there is no way I could possibly recommend download.

+ PROS: Hey, the ice actually did not look bad. The tileset included wallside tiles.

- CONS: There is not much here. It’s really small, and there isn’t any eyecandy.

VERDICT: This is not a notable tileset. It’s small, eyecandy-lacking, and really not that good at all. Some of the design techniques show promise, but overall this tileset is nothing but a large disappointment. If you are really set on making a tileset, try to spend more time on it. You might not be half-bad some day if you just make larger, more effort-based tilesets. Sometimes a bad start can mean a good end, especially in tileset making. I give this a 1.7 and no download recommendation, but keep trying. You could be quite good someday.[This review has been edited by Trafton AT]

Poor. Not really worth downloading. Wouldnt be possible to make a good level out of this.

The basics of how to rip usless pictures and put them into a tileset.

A small tileset. Very simple. Green background. Yellow ground. It’s boring. No eyecandy tiles. No stuff for layer 7.

I give it a 4.5.

No download reccommandation.
