Very well put together tileset, Moonblaze. Especially like the spooky background. Ill try making a level with it soon, looks like it could produce good quality levels. Download recommended.
A nice and well done tileset by mooblaze
The ground is blue and nice, reminds me of Diamondus though. The slime falls look weird and could of been done better, but they are ok and make the tileset more strange. The backround is grey and dull, doesnt really fit in with the rest of the colorful tiles here. Mountains are good, same with all the basic stuff. Has an exit sign. This is definately one of the stranger tilesets on j20, but that does not take away from the uniqueness and quality this tileset has. Its good for a 2 day tileset and deserves a reccomendation.
Looks nice to me. Most of the basic stuff are all in it the Tileset. Extra stuff like mountains and textures, all there. The colours only irritated it me a bit, blue, black and similiar colours. But I can understand you have made this for Skulg so I will shutt up. ;P An eight from me and a download recommendation.
Lets start with the mini-tileset aka Dark Marshland. It has a nightish theme which i like, and moonblaze tried his best to make the backround layer eyecandy fit into the tileset. The backround, considering a warp backround wouldnt fit, is ok, and fits into the tileset. There are very nice and blue sucker tubes included, and some blue distruct blocks, which look cool but sometimes hurt your eyes. Other than that, there is some strange, but well made ground, although i wouldnt have used that brownish color. As well, there are interesting hooks and poles in the set, and brown arrows (to bad moonblaze couldnt make ones pointing down or up), and ropes used for vines. There is a text sign, and an exit sign, with a color that fits into the set.
Now, for Dark_MarshlandEX
The warp backround is ok, not the best it can be, but still very well done. The stars and moon look a bit cartoonish, and the clouds are carefully done. The black backround eyecandy is good, but could of been better as well. The ground here is donewell, i like the color, and there are strange eyecandy things that can be used to decorate the ground. The set includes the important tiles, and has rain in it. It also has invisible tiles, and some colored text. In this set, the up&down arrows are included as well as the left&right ones, and it has green animated bubbles??? Whenever i look at the blue ground, it reminds me of a well textured waterfall, and its a shame there isnt any waterfalls in both sets, but you cant expect everything in a set… There are green and blue animating circles which can be used for warps, and text blocks.
OVERALL: Both of these tilesets are well done, and both relate with night. Although they have some downfalls, they are still a good addition to any tileset collector’s jj2 folder. Good work moonblaze and keep it up.
I am very excited about Disguise’s contest. From the various tilesets I have seen come out of it, none of them is anything but excellent. And this tileset by Moonblaze is no exception. “Dark Marshland” is not, despite the name, really a marshland. Rather, it seems like to be a dark, slightly swampy, forest. And boy is it dark. Looking at this tileset in JCS, you would think that it would be impossible to see any of the eyecandy if you made a level with it. That is not true at all. Rather, levels using this tileset do come out looking quite dark, but that is not a bad thing. In fact, the demo level I made did not look extremely dark. The few bright tiles more than make up for the somewhat depressing vibe that the dark tiles give off, and it is very well balanced. Moonblaze does the forest tileset type better than anyone, and it definitely shows here. Included are exit signs and pretty much anything you would ever need in a full tileset. There are two tileset versions included. One is Dark Marshland and the other Dark Marshland EX. Note that Dark Marshland is the entry for Disguise’s contest and Dark Marshland EX (EX possibly being extended?) is the full version of the tileset with all the features. This is an excellent tileset, though I recommend you use the EX version as opposed to the tiny one for Disguise’s contest. Still, this is definitely a good entry to the contest, and I hope to see the results. I give the full version an eight point two and a download recommendation. Great job, Moonblaze. Keep the good work up and make more tilesets.
Please make longer reviews or it isn’t a really review. Anyway, here’s the review:
Dark Marshland (without ex):
This is a really mini tileset of 80 tiles (10 × 8). It haves all needed tiles, destruct blocks, arows, and vines and hooks. Also some 6&7 thingies. The music fits really well with it. The tileset itself is a blue tileset, dark blue, with golden things in it. There are some (Uh, blue) sukckers in it who i like, and some mountains and clouds fit the layers 6 and 7 and perhaps 5. I don’t rate this tileset, you maked a expansion who i rate now.
Dark Marshland EX:
This tileset don’t have the golden things on the paths, but have blue instead of gold. There are the same suckers, background eyecandy and there is now a lot nicer textured background. The music of it dont fit so really well with it. Barf. This tileset isnt so big too, but it’s double so much like the first one. The ground haves worms in it, bones (how orginal) and some plants. The worm is animated. There is a animated puff of smoke, i really dont know what it means, but it’s a puf of smoke so that’s always lol. There’s a warp thingie like in many tileset like Mez, the animated circle. You’ll also see a moon and stars for layer 6 and 7, or just layer 4.. There’s a orginal Thanks to Disguise and Made by Moonblaze sign, wich lol because you cant see the Thanks to Disguise sign in the example level, the Moonblaze sign is standing in front of it. The hook is nice, it’s one like in Agama’s Egypt tileset, a rope with a little woodstock on it. There is also a invisible masked tile. I like the grave-like Exit, text and water (?) sign. The wall is climbable so you dont need many springs iin levels with this tileset. The poles are blue with golden blobs on it. That was all, i think this is a little tileset without bugs, so download reccomedation.[This review has been edited by Taz]
Interesting- but as JSZ Jazz said, It wont fit the bosses- i agree
Nice and different. I can’t rate this, but if i can: IT ISNT A JB2 FOO! A J2B!!!!!!
zum
Basicly, this patches also boss music for Dirty Landry.
And it isen’t such of a great file.
I prefer this than for the orginal boss music, and wanted to share with other people.
If you don’t like the idea of change your .j2b names, fine, do not download this.
I find it interesting that you have uploaded your changing the filenames of two music files.
These musics are preety different, they won’t fit Bubba ‘n Devan and other bosses…
Yes Moonblaze does like trees, all the better for me, because i like trees as well, and here are a lot of trees, and leaves, so i like this tileset, but the backround is a bit weird, and the branches are short. The moon is cool, and the ground is ok, overall above average tileset and a download reccomendation
Moonblaze must be a big fan of trees, because he sure makes a lot of tilesets with them. Most of them are pretty good, and this one is no exception. The drawing quality is very nice, though it looks a bit cartoony at some points. The moon in the background looks really good, though the edges are a bit rough. The general necessities are there, though (as Violet mentioned) the sucker tubes are limited to straight lines and turns. It’s hard to make trees that are very good, but the tree in this tileset looks like it was done too quickly. Branches are one tile in length at most, which makes using them tedious and significantly detracts from it’s usefulness. This tileset suffers from several medium-sized pitfalls, but is still pretty good overall. Worth a download recommendation, but beware of the trees. ;-P
Moonblaze and Forest are two words which you should associate, apparently. This tileset is a nature tileset with trees and a giant moon for background eyecandy, so it’s Moonlight Forest. (did the author mean Moonlit?)
While it has all the basic stuff, it doesn’t have much else, the branches can’t be more then one tile wide (two if not attached to anything), and the tree is ugly. The masking on the spikes are bad, and the blocks don’t look too good.
There is a blinking eye animation, but it’s not in the layer 4 background, so it looks weird. The sucker tube only supports corners and straight lines, no T or + there, and the textured background doesn’t work in 8-bit.
Still, it’s ok.

Heh. That is from Mad Jack the Pirate. (If you know who it is, you are really strange ;)
Overall nice level, nice layout, good use of tileset. No bad things, but also, it’s not the bes level from MOOnblaze i ever seen. Download recommedation.

@Moonblaze: Yup, CelL IS really strange. (Oops, meh too. ;P)
Not a bad CTF level by Moonblaze, but I can see why it didn’t win the contest. There are a few bugs, but it is a generally good level. The first thing that really annoyed me was base placement. One is very high up and the other is low and very easy to get to. This obviously gives benefit to the team with the high base. As mentioned, I couldn’t see this in JCF because the author put a password on it. Before uploading your levels, either tell the password or remove it so people can tell how you made the level. Weapon placement is fairly good, but a little bunched together in some parts. Eyecandy is very good, though there are numerous tileset use errors that could easily be undone. All and all, this is a fine level, and is worth downloading, especially if you are a fan of CTF levels.
Heh, I like this lvl.
Eyecandy is good, I could tell he worked on it. The bases, one is high, the other is low and they are easily accesible. Kinda hard to get the coins for the warp, but worth it. I think im giving a high rating, but who knoew. I like this level. The only bad thing is that you passworded it, but i didnt take marks off for that couase it has almost nothing to do with the level, but If you wouldnt have passwirded it, I wouldove tooken a closer look at it and maybe boosted up my rating but oh well. Download this if your drive isnt filling up wiht CTF levels or you just want to collect them like I do ;)
BUH!
I like it but everything is already said…
but I hate making empty reviews, so I just write some crap.[This review has been edited by Snowball]
