OK, so what we have here can be called a remix. Yes, not just stupid sample changing, or adding two patterns, this is an actual remix. Although I don’t know what kind of a remix this is… We have more channels, more samples, old ones are replaced (all of them). It’s really a piece of hard work. The problem is… it sounds “empty”. Maybe the percussion samples are too short, or the new trumpet has a too drastic ending, but it sounds like a channel or two are missing. Besides that, everything else is very good… Maybe all that goodness isn’t combined well? Anyway, as for your first work, I will rate this 7.5. Just keep on practicing, and I hope your next work will be astonishing!
I promised a review so here I am.
Now for the review itself i find myself in a difficult position.
I like the tune, melody is catchy and I liked it the moment I heard it the first time. But nothing has been altered here.
I have no clue if the speed has changed but it sounds a little bit too slow to have ingame, if it was ever meant for a level.
The instruments are chosen nicely, although I would have chosen the trumpets differently. And in the beginning an instrument is being stretched too long.
In remixes I really like when cords (don’t know if the word is correct) are changed and the whole song sounds a little bit different. sadly this was not attempted.
Afterall this is his first mix and it’s a great start. Thumbs up from me
And a rating of 7.5

Alright, here goes:
I was actually pretty surprised with the quality of the music, it reminded me of the original menu remix and had a rux beat, and I liked it, a lot of cool notes and beats. I like how it sounded a lot different and yet still reminded me of the original menu song. Pretty good for a first try. And yeah, next time make the music title a bit shorter. Overall, I’d say this would get about an 8 from me. Good Job, and download reccomended. (I can’t ever seem to do long enough reviews on music =\)
Edit: After a while I’ve grown to like this tune more. Rating upgraded to an 8.2.
Well.. Danyjel asked me to review this but i dunno how to rate music, so ill comment this instead.
Well.. i like this remix alot. its probably one of my favorites. samples and sounds are very nice.. il hope we see more remixes from ya. the end, because im too lazy to write more.
Bjarni, when an author makes the music format in a module file, rather than a .j2b, you can use it for multiple things. If it’s a .j2b, it will only work with JJ2. At its current state, you can use this file in Winamp, and other things. If you want to listen to this in JJ2, Bjarni, include the file extension when you type in the music name.
In this case, you’d have to type…
Jazz Jackrabbit 1 menusong music remix.s3m
…to use this in JJ2, rather than typing…
Jazz Jackrabbit 1 menusong music remix
…without the .s3m at the end.
Okay, Danyjel wanted me to rate this, but I’m not sure what to give it, so I’ll just comment on it. Anyway, this is a pretty good remix. I don’t like the first 20 seconds all that much, but after that, I like it a lot! =) Good job, keep up the good work. I hope to see more remixes from you in the future. =D[This review has been edited by labratkid]
What are you talking about Bajarni S3M is one of the most common and workable formats for JJ2. Your crazy.
Now onto the review:
It has a nice base to it. It really brings out how catchy the theme song is. I’m listening to it right now and bobbing my head. I don’t know much about music but I know whats catchy and what I like and I like this.
Overall I say this is a wonderful remix of the Jazz theme because it portrays how catchy it is and is arranged nicely with good instrument choice. Good job Danyjel you get my thumbs up and an 8 outa ten!
I’m getting tired of this! Please make your musics in “.j2b” this doesn’t work for any JJ2 versions, for example mine!
sigh Do I have to do everything myself? :p Or I just have way too much free time on my hands…
To be honest, I have no words for this remix. For a first track it’s pretty impressive. It sounds pretty decent, it shows the tracker has potential. He didn’t go overboard trying to make it the best, instead he stayed level. The track has a steady tempo, like 1, 2, 1, 2. I’m not an expert on instruments, but they seem too … mellow for a tough bunny like Jazz. That’s forgivable for a first try, as long as he’s prepared to improve on it. The nicest thing is the added tune in the “silent” area (0:57 to 1:06), which is actually a part of the menu song, not made up. The melody is completely preservedOne thing bothered me tho: the very long file name. I had to shorten it because it screwed up the file selection window in my player. Names like “JJ-menurm” would have worked better.
Verdict:
A good remix, but it could use some minor improvements on the instruments and the steady tempo. But since it’s the tracker’s first try, it’s understandable he wanted to stay level, so I won’t hold points back for that. Recommended download, with the reservation of the long file name.

Review of Crazy Aztec:
Introduction:Okay, a test level. I dont like about tests too much, but anyways this is 4 times better, than a normal test level were you just have to jump, use your specail skills , like copter ears, or something else like that, and i must admit that this one of the goodest skill testing levels here, eyecandy is bit strange sometimes though…
EYECANDY:Okay eyecandy here is pretty good, tiles were used right like those blocks and vines, there were some weird tileset use, especailly with those signs, but after all , eyecandy is good , goes with the tileset , no major complaiments.
Pros:good eyecandy, original.
Cons:weird tileset use…
GAMEPLAY:okay , i must say that there is no good gameplay in test levels thats why i usually hate them, but this level has second best gameplay (of test levels) what i have seen, but gameplay is ok…
Pros:okay gameplay sometimes.
Cons:not much gamepaly here..
CONCLUSION:This is good test level, maybe download recommedation, if you love tests.
So, what can my ears hear? A test for brains. ummm, yeah! I’m very clever, more than einstein, no, I’m just a noob. No I’m not, I’m just what I am, just joking. Heh. Lol. But now let’s see what does this “brain-test” get.
Oh, no no no. This is an test, so I couldn’t rate this like any sp-level. So, let’s say it straightly.
Ummm, Good eyecandy, But some layers are missing, well there’s some secrets too, and Without them, the lvl is impossible. Well, those Tests and tricks weren’t even very hard, only the last one a bit. So it doesn’t yet need very much smartness. It took me about 5 mins, and could have been taken lesser. Level wasn’t that long. So, level uses Blade’s tileset. Ummm, yea he makes good tilesets and they are easy to use. Good that this is originality also. And what the heck is that readme?

What does this text above mean? Eh, The author could have been told more clearer the idea. Good that you also included the tileset. But this readme, eh, I couldn’t give + from it. Well, Music is just the jj2-menumusic. Well, kinda simple.
Even puzzles were hard, they were nice. So make a level pack, but not levels that only contain puzzles and labyrinths. You have to use power and smartness. Puzzles, and enemies, traps, etc.
Well that was kinda all. Let’s see what rating does this level get.
Thinking…Thinking…Thinking
Ummm… Hard to say but I think that this lvl receives a 6.7! There were some puzzles and the level wasn’t very long and all that other. So you need to practise even more. I didn’t like this level so much than others but it’s a good rating anyway.
Becuz there is something in your levels that is missing. Maybe a little more careness and make them more longer. Puzzles too and a good design with readme. That’s all.

Ok, here is my review.
Eyecandy: Very Good. 9
Gameplay: Good too. 8
Other Layers: 2 and 5 miss but 7
Enemy Placement: Good. 8,5
Ammo Placement: Good with many secrets in it. 8,1
Length: Its long because you use your brains but fun. 7,8
So its a 8,2. Very Good

This was pretty cool and chalenging but to short make it longer :P.
Great job,- it isn´t classical “gotta kill them all” but this level is testing brain, not only keybord and fingers Daniel, if you make longer level of this kind,I’ll give you ten (to the longer game, certainly)
No offense Dany but this lvl is not good. Or maybe I am not as Smart a einstein. Dunno. I can not even get through the FIRST part. =( This is a Level that Geniuses could play and do well. But since it is Original I will give it a 2.

Test your skills at JJ2? Einstein could beat this, and Einstein has never played JJ2. You need supreme concentration, you need to be very smart, and need no JJ2 skills. I hate this kind of level, so no rating.
