There’s so much bad here, that I don’t know where to start. Eyecandy, background, gameplay- all BAD. And the title doesn’t go eather. I don’t think, that Hogwarts youses something more, besides magicwands, to practise.

PITIFUL.

Well, it has a gameplay, not so good, but it has a gameplay. Work on your event stuff, as chandie said. Good weapon placement, but the levels are to small. You have to work on your eyecandy. There are vines obove carrots and the vines doesn’t even have the event “vine”. The eyecandy is flat, it looks if no attention payd on eyecandy but only on gameplay and pickups.

In overall shows this level a lot of promise, and that’s good. The only thing left to do for you is practising!

P.S.: If you don’t know how triggers work go to JCSref. That’s a site with info about it. :)

According to your level, there’s a good idea. The enemy placement was good also. There were few bad points that:
*The first level hasn’t got an ‘Area End Of Level’ event.
*In the first level, there’s a warp, which sends you to an area that has no way out. Also, there’s a trigger crate, which doesn’t have a trigger ID.
An 2.0 is good for the gameplay and enemies.

The author seems to not enjoy the above reviews, so I hope that this review might be considered slightly more acceptable. Regardless, I will not modify my score because of the author’s aditude, whether positive or negative.

TILESET/TILESET USE: I only have the tilesets for the first two levels, which use Carrotus and Castle. Tileset use in both of them is more or less poor and badly done. There are a few areas which look okay, but most of it generally by rule of thumb is bad. These small areas of quality do, however, show some promise, but unless the author picks a better mood when responding to friendly criticism, this potential will probably never be reached. Still, mostly, the levels feature bad eyecandy.
Pros: A few OK areas.
Cons: And quite a few really bad ones.
Rating: 2.0

WEAPON/ITEM PLACEMENT: Definitely the weakest aspect of this pack as a whole, weapon and item placement was overall quite poor. There was quite a lot of clumping going on here, and multiple powerups in the same area. There was vast underuse of basic weapondry, which makes the levels look poor as well as hurting the gameplay value.
Pros: None really.
Cons: Clumping.
Rating: 1.2

ORIGINALITY: Not original at all.
Rating: N/A

GAMEPLAY/DESIGN: Gameplay and design need work and quite a bit of it. The levels feature some fairly basic layouts in addition to being generally poor in nature. The other factors here further damage the quality of these levels, as weapon placement is somewhat important to gameplay. The level quality is poor, as well, and there are only a few areas in which much skill was demonstrated. With work, however, the author could show promise. Above all, though, they need to calm down and accept criticism on first levels, which are very rarely of any quality whatsoever. And this is no exception.
Pros: No.
Cons: Yes.
Rating: 1.2

REPLAY VALUE/FUN FACTOR: Not very fun to play.
Pros: Not really.
Cons: Yes.
Rating: 1.0

OVERALL (not an average): All in all, this is a fairly poor pack. This, however, is acceptable on the first upload. No one can be miraculously talented the first level they create, nor the second, third, and rarely fourth. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but they are rare, and generally with their own exceptions as well. Practice, as the old saying goes, very well does make better, but never perfect. If it was to make perfect, after all, my job would be significantly more tedious than it already is (aside from the repeated carpal motions it entails). This, as any first pack, shows quite a deal of untapped promise. However, it is still in nature a poor pack. More effort, and a great deal of a better position on the receiving of criticism, is required before the author can receive better ratings and improve their skill.
Pros: Shows some promise.
Cons: Poor overall.
Rating: 1.7

Now now, don’t go put oil onto that fire.

Leole, I think you’re missing a point here. Creating good levels requires a lot of patience. Do you honestly think good levels can be made in an instant? No, a good level takes about 15 hours (at least!) to make, levels created with in that time are generally speaking not that good (there are exceptions, trust me). I believe there’s an article about making good levels, if I find I’ll gave you the link.

- JelZe GoldRabbit

P.S. I’m doing not to tease, I just this fight to end.

P.P.S. It seems there was no article about making good levels, I got a even better link:

First: ALWAYS INCLUDE TILESETS WHEN THEY’RE CUSTOM!! I’m getting tired of people who don’t understand that we don’t all have everything.

I only rated the two levels that use carrotus and castle, since I didn’t have the other tilesets.

Both the levels were very bad. Tileset use was horrible, layout disgusting, I won’t even talk about event placement.

Spend more time on your levels, leole. Cuz this really won’t do. A good level at least takes 3 hours to make, mostly even much, MUCH more.

EDIT: Calm down, little man, calm down. 10 levels in 5 days and get 10 is impossible, even for the best. i’M NOT an expert, but, I’m far from beeing the worst member of this society, so I know what I’m talking about(look at my rank. It’s not the first time I rate stuff), and I know that you are new here. And it’s not because I’m not an expert that I won’t give bad ratings. Even the real under-rookies rate low. These bad ratings I give are nothing personnal against you. You must understand that. And don’t expect people not to rate when they don’t like your stuff.

Since you’re new here and you seem mad that I gave you a bad rating, I’ll remove the rating this time. But, next time, I’ll have no mercy. Just spend more time on your levels. And take my advice: begin with easy-to-use tilesets. Like MEZ01. And view the “help” files if you don’t know the things you need to know.

Bad.

“Battle room”: this is a horrible level. You must defeat a few queen bosses. No eyecandy, and a horrible layer 8 background. It hurts my eyes when I play it, really.

“Devil Traps”: not worse than the first one, but horrible anyways. The goody placement in this level really sucked.

“The lvl1”: It’s probably the start of the story(I didn’t play the levels in the right order, appearantly). I won’t take this level in consideration.

“the poke joke”: “a joke level”, as the author calls it…

Overall: just bad levels. Bad event placement, bad backgrounds…

I’m sorry to say this, but this stuff really sux. I can’t say anything else about it.
You should spend more time on your levels.

A 1.

So I don’t write any comments or replies, because seems that others have said those for you already so I just give the points. And now new point in my point review: Difficulty!

Design 2/10
Eyecandy 1/10
Originality 1/10
Gameplay 1/10
Difficultiness 1/10
Including 2/10
Weapon and enemy placement 2/10
Effects + other 2/10

+ or – extra points
-1 points because there are places where I can fall down and then I can’t get back to up.

Overall 1.375 Rank: Poor level

Don’t use too simple tilesets. Use better tilesets and practice a lot, I don’t think those levels are good. 1.5 anyway.

Indeed, it is rarely a good sign when a level author boldly claims that his or her creation “may work in multiplayer.” So I entered this level with modest expectations and I still was disappointed. Personally, I think the “1 person bud i dont now his nickname” person who helped with this level took a very proactive step in remaining anonymous. This level shows a lack of effort, among other things, and one of the most unintentionally funny plot lines since Plan Nine from Outer Space. If you are still interested, read on. If you dare.

STORY: The story is possibly the best part of this entire pack in the sense that it is the most entertaining, though not intentionally. The story starts with you, Jazz the hero, learning that Devan (as in, Devan Shell) has captured the “Pinces Chip” (sounds like a seafood dish.) After that, you run off into “P*k*m*n land” (Pokemon, perhaps?) and battle a few Queen bosses who just happen to be floating around. One does wonder, however, what Pokemon Land and fighting queens has to do with recovering the seafood platter (or whatever it was) from Devan Shell. The entire story comes off as boarderline funny, but not good enough to actually be that humerous. In retrospect, though, it is pretty entertaining indeed.
Pros: There is a story, more or less.
Cons: The story rivals that of some low-budget science fiction movies.
Rating: 1.2

TILESET/TILESET USE: Two different tilesets are used across the four levels that make up this pack, “Chip’s Challenge” by Link (which, unsurprisingly, is not included in the ZIP) and a Pokemon tileset by Splash. The tileset use is…well…dismal. The levels consist mainly of badly placed tiles and a background that is both disturbing and odd at the same time. Tileset use just is not good.
Pros: No.
Cons: Yes.
Rating: 1.0

WEAPON/ITEM/ENEMY PLACEMENT: First the player gathers a lot of gems, ammo, and so on. And then you fight queens. And just as you are feeling some degree of accomplishment from beating the boss set, you get a fantastically ungratifying no level found error. Why? Because the next level setting is non-existant. So you loose everything you collect. Oh well.
Pros: Things exploding like gems are entertaining to a certain degree. Kind of.
Cons: Everything else.
Rating: 1.2

ORIGINALITY: Well, uh, it’s…original…in…some ways…I guess.
Pros: None.
Cons: Tons.
Rating: 1.0

DIFFICULTY: This level is certainally difficult, but not because it is hard. Playing this pack through is really the challenge.
Pros: No.
Cons: Yes.
Rating: 1.2

REPLAY VALUE: Any humor or entertaining “wow, this is so bad, it’s good” sentiment will probably fall apart about two minutes into play, leaving you with a bland, unentertaining level pack.
Pros: No.
Cons: Yes.
Rating: 1.0

OVERALL (not an average): I’ve made my point clear. Even for a first upload, this is poor. Avoid this pack.
Pros: No.
Cons: Yes.
Rating: 1.0

This just is not a good level. Put a lot more effort and testing into your levels next time. Good luck with further level making, but remember – perfection takes patience, practice, and possibly bribes. But mainly the first two.

I’d just like to say this is the perfect example of how not to upload a level. Not to mention how not to make a level. Four of them, in fact. The author claims the levels may work in multiplayer, and yes, that is a bad sign.

STORY: The story, I think, is this. Devan (one of the few words spelled correctly) has captured Pinces Chip, so you run off to P*k*m*n land and fight some Queens.
Pros: There is a story.
Cons: It makes no sense.
Rating: 1.2

TILESET/TILESET USE: The author uses two tilesets – Chip’s Challenge (not included) by Link, and some P*k*m*n tileset by Splash, and I’m not sure if it’s included or not. The tilesets are used insanely bad, with countdown blocks/blue tanks for ground, and ice/Splash and Ash thing for background. The only thing remotely good about this is that the author managed to get the green mover thingies to line up right. Pity they don’t do anything..
Pros: No.
Cons: Yes.
Rating: 1.0

WEAPON/ITEM/ENEMY PLACEMENT: Enemies? There were.. enemies? Anyway, in the first level, you get a huge cache of gems and ammo. Then you go off to fight a queen in the second level. However, the next level setting for the second level is wrong, so you don’t get to keep it. Anyway, as you might expect, this factor failed miserably.
Pros: I’ll admit shooting tons of super red gems is fun.
Cons: Sadly, it was probably the best part of the entire pack.
Rating: 1.5

ORIGINALITY: Huh?
Pros: No.
Cons: Yes.
Rating: 1.0

DIFFICULTY: There are two difficult parts about this. One is finding your way through the first level. The other is fighting the three queens in a row in the fourth (I believe) level, with no pits between them. Not that you get to fight them – a defeated queen pulls you back and you fall off of the level.
Pros: No.
Cons: Yes.
Rating: 1.2

REPLAY VALUE: No.
Pros: No.
Cons: Yes.
Rating: 1.0

OVERALL (not an average): No.
Pros: There is hardly a good spot to this pack, to be honest. The levels are mostly unplayable, too many queens, practically no enemies, clumping of events, non-working events, bad next level setting.. you name it! This easily beats “ZA’s bad side”, and possibly “Jazz’s house… or is it?”.
Cons: Yes.
Rating: 1.0
