Paul already mentioned most of the downfalls of this level (except chatrooms; i think they are okay if used properly).
The eyecandy is decent and there really are some interesting ideas but unfortunately it’s too small and it uses the easy-to-use and extremely overused Diamondus tileset.
This level is very slightly below the average, i guess (4.5).

P.S.: Never name your ZIP files battle.zip. I have the feeling this will lead to problems in the future :-)

This level isn’t too good and there is a place where you can easily get stuck if you dont get freeze ammo.

There is a shield in this level and that isnt any fun when playing batlle levels.

KJAZZ, I hereby award you the “most improved” award. Compared to your old stuff, you have improved by LEAPS AND BOUNDS. I am quite impressed by your fast improvement. Your eyecandy has improved signifigantly. There are several aspects of this level that I would like to draw to your attention because they detract from the gameplay, though. A chat room is pointless, I think. It detracts from the gameplay in that this game is for battling..not chatting. Besides, if someone wants to kill someone else in a chatroom, they’ll do it, if they really want to :P

Shield = evil. Ammo is good, but a shield is basically like a temporary JJGOD. I don’t like them, and I think they take away from the gameplay.

There aren’t enough coins in the level, I think. Add a hidden gold coin somewhere…and then you’ll have yourself a good coinwarp. With so few coins in such a small level, you’re sure to get roasted before you get enough coins for the warp.

The multiple ammo boxes I don’t like either. Scatter your ammo around..make people hunt for it. You also might want to put a single powerup somewhere to create some nice conflict around an area.

I don’t quite understand the pinball area. I don’t think it fits in this type of level either :P

Use the backround layers a little more too :)

Overall, not so great. But, as I said, compare this to your old stuff, and you’ve made great progress :)

I made a Version 2 of it, but I didn’t post it because most everyone here hates that kind of level.

But yeah, Krusty’s Show and Homer’s House might be in a version 3….

P.S. The reason I didn’t include them, was because I ran out of text events.

Its a pretty nice tileset and level, but im missing the actual characters from the Simpsons.

The music is pretty cool and the level does have all important simpsons stuff (exept Homers house, Krusty the Clown show and some others)

I’m giving you a 5.5 because of the great improvement you showed. You look at your old stuff….now you look at this and you see that KJAZZ is getting better and putting forth some effort here. Good job KJAZZ. Keep at it and at this rate you’ll be a good levelmaker in no time (;

I don’t think it’s as bad as all that, guys..

Although I’m not going to recommend that somone d/l this, I think it’s better than some of KJAZZ’s other stuff.

For some reason, i don’t feel like writing another long review on this.
It’s a bunch of thirteen levels, two custom music files and the J2LC "easter" tileset. The author tried to write a story around it and used loads of text events to explain it.
Unfortunately, the design of the levels is, apart from some interesting ideas (Frog, witch etc.), quite boring and below the average. But there are also some very annoying "bugs" like the "Type JJNXT to complete" idea, bad tile placement, horrible enemy placement, the supermarket level (nice idea but annoying because it’s overdone) etc etc..
Same with the layer work. KJAZZ used three of the easy to use and extremly overused tilesets: Carrotus, Castle, Diamondus (apart from the one Jungle level :-).
The background music is weird, somehow, and the music selection doesn’t fit in all places.
And yes, it’s seems to be inspired by stripe’s AS. I didn’t find the "Credits level" by the way.
As you can see, i pretty much agree with iCED (as always).
I don’t recommend to download this pack.

KJAZZ: gradually it gets boring. I only can repeat it one more time: SPEND MORE TIME ON YOUR LEVELS. PLEASE!!!

Erm, there isn’t much to say about this, except…

1. This is WAY too short and boring, contains some unoriginal ideas (mixed with a few original ones which were not exactly interesting IMO)

2. The eye candy/weapon placement is weird. It looks pretty dull.

3. This is basically a copy of stripe’s AS idea…

Um, to sum it up, no d/l recommendation from me. Sorry. :-)

I usually don’t review levels, but if someone gets bad ratings all the time i’m gettin curious and I check it out for myself.
Came to the conclusion these guys are right.

KJAZZ has some good ideas, but his levels look more like just the ‘basic idea’; they just look UNFINISHED. The levels are ok, but there is no finishing touch. So I recommend that you work in team next time, or at least have someone do the eyecandy and stuff for you if you’re not good at that.

Probably the problem is PATIENCE. They’re right, it needs time to make a level good. A good idea is one point, but without all the rest (eyecandy, gameplay…) it’s worth nothing. I’ve been working on my ‘Tomb Rabbit’ (release tomorrow!) for two months now, and I’m sick of it! I’ve had it! But I wanted to make it good, so I did spent a lot of time testing, adjusting, adding eyecandy and stuff. Patience is the key mi amigo! (if you see my new enemy, you’ll know what I’m talking about)

4 points for the idea, missing 6 points for the rest. And I’m glad someone is making a storybased game again. Just do try to make it different from Stripes (why is there always a mother involved?).

That’s it (fingers gettin tired). I’m sure you could get your ratings higher. For someone with your ideas this is basically the rule: The more time you spend, the more points you get.

If you think i was too rude, i am sorry.
However, i never mean to attack someone personally. I just don’t like the levels you released so far. They need A LOT more work. And i never said i could do better. Of course, you are allowed to rate and review my levels and programs here at J2O as well.
On a side note, i recommend you, KJAZZ, to read my article on reviews. It could be of interest because it has the same topic.

P.S.: My english vocabulary is pretty limited so maybe it sometimes sounds more rude than it was meant to be. Sorry. Do you speak german? :-)

Aiko, iCeD (iCeD mostly).
Perhaps the level isn’t so good. I wouldn’t disagree. BUT. There is NO reason at ALL to go bashing the levelmaker. Be nice, darnit! The things you said are completely uncalled for.

Give some positive feedback! Your ratings are fine but you need to be nicer about them! :P

About your level KJAZZ (:
You seem to have good ideas, good concepts and ways to enhance the gameplay. You just need to work on the presentation. Eyecandy is very important. Work with the other layers, make it look niiiice (:.
Check out some high-rated levels, as iCeD said.
Vary tile placement, try stuff out. Experiment and spend a lot of time on your levels.
With practice comes perfect (to use the cliche) and I’m sure your levels could become very good (perhaps not perfect (;) with a little time.

I agree with Aiko. This is a copied idea from stripe’s original “Another Story” I can’t say much for this level, other than the fact that it is actually quite ugly. The layer 8 is bad and there is 0 eye candy. The music choice was OK (It comes with MODPlug Player/Tracker), and the whole thing was very confusing. KJAZZ, as Aiko said, SPEND MORE TIME ON YOUR LEVELS! Look at other highly rated levels and take examples from them. What a lengthy review.

Conclusion: NO D/l recommendation from me. Not even worth J2O diskspace.

Hmmm, KJAZZ, no offense…but did you actually notice that you released A WHOLE LOT of levels that got a average rating far below the average. Maybe you should focus a bit more on quality instead of quantity (did i mention "spend more time on it"? :-).
Oh well, here is another one using Everlasting’s cool "Jazzed Realm" set. It is supposed to be a demo of a pack, and to be honest, i hate DEMOs of levels and packs. Better finish your thing even if it takes a long time. If we would all post Demos of our stuff, this site would be even more flooded with useless files.
Now, to the good sides: i like the idea that its story-based. Makes it a lot more interesting. But don’t over do it. The number of text events is limited.
And on a side note: this is very obviously inspired by "Another Story" (btw "Story" is a VERY boring name, KJAZZ).
Unfortunately i didnt managed to find the stomp scenery at the beginning without cheating (JCS :-). Confusing design. And very blocky.
Apart from that, there is hardly any eyecandy. Music is the example file of ModPlug Tracker; not exceptional but ok.

And, this review is too long. Poof.
