I felt bored so I decided to use random level to review this!
First thing I notice is the backround. Looks pretty cool in 16bit actually, and I have never seen a level with the labrat bg warped before (or dont remember at least). The bg looks horrid in 8bit though, but I dont play in 8bit so ;d.
The author of this level must’ve had an obsession with hooks and spikes or something, cause there are a lot of them in this level. Tile placement is rather bad, reminds me of some of my early levels. At least some parts look alright, and it couldve been a lot worse.
One more thing, why did you include hurt events in battle? =P. Only the server will actually get hurt by them, otherwise they’re just a good way to get your character flashing so you wont get shot by anyone else. And plus there’s like hurt events throughout the entire level, not just one spot.
Ammo placement needs work, and I’m not going to bother going through all the extensive detail and bringing up things like the +15 freezer boxes and the sparcity in the ammo and stuff. Carrot placement also needs work, since you even have a full energy in here. All this is also sealed with a nice, great fact that nothing respawns :D.
Layout is really strange. You’ve got some annoying warps, dead ends, places that are too open, places with random platforms, and places that need one ways. The level also seems to be divided into two halfs. The warp that brings you to the 2nd warp and back is fine, but why do you have that warp that just warps you a few tiles down and left, as well as that tile that I think should’ve had a warp on it or something (17, 20 in JCS, although it has a warp target on it which makes things confusing because not all the blue warp stuff in the level have warps over it cause of that etc blahblah). Music doesn’t really fit the level either. Dunno why I mentioned this now, but it just came up.
As expected, level uses only layers 4 and 8. The gameplay is also very horizontal too. (Farthest down level goes is only 36 tiles, but it stretches up to 180 tiles horizontally. Meaning the bottommost occupied space by a tile is xx,36, and the right-most is 180, xx.
Anyways, this review is pretty much done.I can’t really imagine this taking 12 hours but if you say so alright.

It seems like you are still a beginner at levelmaking, so these levels are acceptable right now. Eventually, if you practise, you’ll get better and will be able to make better stuff. Right now this gets a 3.8 and no download reccomendation, but keep trying!

You used the 0% lighting again…. Come on, I HAVE TO SEE SOMETHING. All of the enemies are in the beginning except the boss. There is one enemy in the mid-part but it doesn’t do anything and you can’t kill it. The eyecandy.. again.. IS AWFUL AWFUL SUXSUXSUX! Again a normal tileset with normal music. Tile problems.. You NEVER use ANY tileset correctly? Your both levels used simple tilesets. They both sucked. If your next level uses Tubelectric and it sucks, I think I am gonna say it again. This beginning review text said it all so just the ratings on the different places are visible. Wee.

I saw the level’s average rating and I decided to read each review. Well, I need to agree with them. This level is now on my recycle bin. Wee. The level maker doesn’t seem to know that swearing is not allowed in here. I saw it in the filename and after killing the boss. The enemy placement is kinda sux. Fat chick and a dog aren’t carrotus stuff. And dragon on top of the pumpkin. Author probably didn’t test this level. You can jump right from the top pumpkin, break the trig crate and go to the boss.
BETATESTERS PLZTNXFUN. This level is more a beta of an average level. And yes, the TILE ERRORS. You made this level in 6 minutes or something? This level is face. Although filesize is suparsmall, if you are downloading it, stop it. Now. Or you are wasting your playtime for downloading this stupid piece of (fake trafton edit). And yes, wee. No next level. It’s a basic carrotus level. Carrotus is overused. Music is the default carrotus music. What’s original then? Why 2? Because I rarely review stupid suxlevels. Ha.

Try to spend more time working on your levels and be careful and always use right tilesets, and next time download some tilesets from this site which have a high rating and try to use theme – I suggest to choose some Disguise’s tileset which have a rating at least 8 – his tilesets are great and really easy to use :)
Try to do as I said and I will be happy :)

Well, this is your made, but the tileset is basic. But do you think that I would give an 8 just because it’s your made? No, I don’t judge in the ORIGINALITY-section only the tileset and the level-maker. There also have to be some, eh…It’s hard to explain, but just some kind of stuff. Example if there’s falls where is nothing at the down, isn’t original because the area is always empty. Well, by this case, this couldn’t even get 7. Cuz it even looks like it would be unfinished. It deserves maximum 5, but because music is also basic, only 4.

ENDING COMMENTS: Wow! For a long time I see again a sp-level like this. You’re not gonna receive high ratings by that way. You have to be more careful with the tiles, make longer ones, and put always something to under you. I don’t want to fall to the emptiness. It looks unfinished in that case. 9 points is a very small amount of points, since you also got alot of minus-points. It’s only about 20% about that what you could have got. And I think that others here overrated this a bit. Or then I have began to see always so good eyecandy and careful work, that this has been a really miserable thing in my eyes. You have to learn to making them better. Practice! Make levels for practice, but upload those levels, when you think that you’re in the top. Or how could I say that :). I think that I anyways should add a 0.3 to this rating, because it’s xmas, but that would be unfair. Eh, 0.3 more? Well, not this time.

This isn’t any good. These tilebugs make me so angry when I see them, so that I quickly deleted this trash from my PC. They’re everywhere. Litenante_91, don’t you know that in 8th layer properties is box called “Textured BG”? No layer 7/6 eyecandy. (You wanna to bleed?)

Well…It looks like your first level.
my 1st impression about this level was that I thought that this is somebody’s 1st level.
Background isn’t used correctly – that looks REALLY BAD!!! I can’t accept when people are using incorrectly such a simple to use tiles!!!
When I fall down (ofcourse on purpose to see what is placed there) I got stuck because there is nothing!!!!
In this place should be located some spikes or warp or maybe some secret passage full of goodies and food or whatever but not an empty space!!
Level is very short, level isn’t so bad – there are places located logically and even some parts of this level are nice.
Gameplay is a bit better then bad, there are no food or goodies , some places are empty and only somewhere are putted enemies.
You did lots of mistakes in your level, there are almost no eyecandy :(
It would be a 4.0 but because you used vulgar word I will give you 3.7
Come on guys and let’s not use vulgar words in here because very young children might be here and might downloading this stuff :)

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:okay, its a very short level, using caarotus tileset. Background is freaking ugly (no offence) and there are some tilebugs. Well, i have seen worse. but lets continue.
EYECANDY:
Hmm, there is not much eyecandy. Just basic tiles of carrotus, caves, some poles. That’s what i remember. Nothing awesome.And there are some tile bugs. Put more eyecandy on your levels. They will get better ratings.
PROS:Well, lets just say that there are worser levels. ;p
CONS: not much of eyecandy, only basic tiles.

Okay, lets just say that tileset is rightly used. But, there are tile bugs. look at the background for a good example. Well, i think that this level has basic tileset use.. no more comments.

GAMEPLAY:
Well. Gameplay is ok.. but the level is too short. You just have to smash twwo trigger crates, and walk to the cave, soon, you will fall to small room, and you will encouter a schwartzen guard ( hopefully i spended that rgiht, ;p) and kill him. Make longer levels, they’re more fun to play. And gameplay is usually better on long levels. ;p
an ok gameplay,but it is still quite linear, and but could use work. by the way, when i played this and falled down, i noticed, that there were no instant death event in the bottom. the result is that jazz will just stay there, until you use an “JJFLY” code.

Okay. First of all, there are enemies, which are averagily placed, and there should be more of them, so level would be harder. ( it was too easy )
There are feew pickups, and there should be more of them too, ;p , so player would get sugar rush in your levels. Anyway, you shouldn’t overuse foods though. Food placement is fine.
Well, i saw no ammo, but level like this is beatable using just regular buttstomp. ;p
But, levels should have always some ammo.. so boss would be bit easier.
PROS:Well, atleast there are events.. ;p

Not enough enemies and the level is just way too short, I mean, it’s okay to have a semi-short level but this one is just ridiculous. However, the tileset use wasn’t bad at all, but that barely pulls the rating any higher.
I seem to get a fatal error when I try to run this. It’s an error in the tileset. Oh, well.

GAMEPLAY/DESIGN:
The gameplay isn’t too much original, you just jump around and shoot some monkeys. There are a few secrets but they are bad designed at all.
PROS: nothing great to mention
CONS: Boring, too short, bad secrets

TILESET/TILESET USE:
The tileset the author used was the jungle thingy from epic. I like that tileset but I don’t like the way the author used it. The background is bad and the foreground wasn’t used very good. Look at level ‘Thriller Gorilla’ and look how Mr Bleszinski made the thingy with the trees, Litenante. I also saw some minor tile bugs.
PROS: okay tileset use (+0.3)
CONS: bad eyecandy (-0.3), foreground layers are used wrong, doesn’t look like a jungle

WEAPON/ITEM/ENEMY PLACEMENT:
The weapon placement wasn’t bad, item placement was. What about coins or gems? Also there has to be MORE food. Man, you are in a jungle, right? The enemy placement was…hm…..okay. The author only used one enemy, the monkey. That’s bad. Good thing is that the monkeys are okay placed I think. Again a bad thing is that there is no easy/normal/hard setting. Set more food on easy mode and more baddys on hard!
PROS: okay enemy/ammo placement (+0.5)
CONS: no easy/normal/hard settings

Here I got some tips from Jazz2 Level Designer Cliff Bleszinksi. You can also read them in the JCS faq.
1. Look Out Below!
Never let people fall on enemies they can’t see below them.
2. Make ‘em Work!
Make people jump for items, or shoot crates. A little bit of effort should be required to collect stuff instead of just running through it.
3. ARGH!!!!
Set up cool situations where you get bounced all around and you can’t control where you’re going. This is both wacky and fun.
4. Let Them Live!
Never teach the player how to play by killing them. Always give the player a chance to figure things out without dying.
5. SHOOT THE BLOCKS!
Destroyable scenery is your friend. People seem to love shooting those exploadable cubes, and you can set
up great puzzles with ammo-based blocks.
6. What Do I Do?!?
Leave clues to most secrets. If you have a butt stomp gem secret put it between two decorative tiles so people just might try stomping there. Otherwise no-one will find you secrets!
7. Keep the Party Going!
For Party Mode levels, make sure and keep the level “circular”. That is, a player can easily zip around anywhere in the level without encountering any dead ends and having to backtrack.
8. USE VARIETY!
Alternate the scenery! Don’t keep the player entirely inside or outside, use a nice variety of all types of scenery in the tileset.
9. I Can’t See!
Dramatic lighting is great, but don’t leave the player in a dark area without a clue as to where to go. This is frustrating!
10. TEST YOUR LEVELS!
Playtest your levels, and have others playtest them! Sit someone down, have them play through your level, and don’t tell them anything. You’ll be surprised by the results.
