Cool!!! "Forest: Party" is a great tileset release including all kinds of snowy landscapes, sleeping animals (it’s a cat i guess :-), greyish mountains, slippy ice and funky letters wishing us a happy 2001.
The tileset is pretty large (about 400 tiles) and gives the talented level author some very good tiles/objects to create eye candy with.
To show how that could work, the author also created a very good looking example (battle/treasure) level with funky/weird music playing in the background.
Really, this is not bad…DOWNLOAD NOW (EVERYONE)!

P.S.:
I’m stil undecided between 7.5 and 8. Maybe i’ll re-rate!

Well, "Commander Keen" was one of my favourite games at the beginning of the 90s because it had real exciting 2D platform action and a weird background story (in other words, Keen is a direct ancestor of Jazz :-).
Now, Talec made a tileset out of it and it really looks spiffy. It has most of the graphics that were in the first levels of "Secret Of The Oracle" (platforms, houses) and some funky additional stuff like spikes, a "Spaz ate the Dopefish" animation as well as errr…a mobile phone? Not to forget a large palm tree, fire and the like. The masking is very good, from what i’ve seen.
The pack also includes a small example level, which gives a good impression of the look and feel of the set.
Unfortunately both, the example level and the example battle level, which is pretty nice by the way, didn’t have a correct next level setting.

My conclusion: a MUST DOWNLOAD for all Commander Keen fans and EVERYONE ELSE :-)

First off, the music choice. You didn’t like it? Oh boy!!! "Keen on Tubelectric" includes background music by the one and only, the master himself, the king of tracking: Purple Motion, member of the legendary Future Crew straight outta the woods of Finland. Well, you noticed it: i really love the background music!
However, if i take the level design itself, it isn’t bad either. It has lots of sucker and trigger events and the eyecandy is pretty neat. Only real downfall is that the navigation can get a bit too confusing after a certain time, as iCED and Fireclaw mentioned.
But overall, a very good single player level, which gets a clear DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATiON from me, not only because of the music ;-)

Hint for Jelze: ever heard about the program "Jazz 2 Organizer"? :-)

After a long time, finally something from good ol’ Germany (thats where i’m from guys :-).
"Elektrivision" is a small level pack containing two pretty short single player maps, both using the "Tube electric" tileset.
The level design is okay, there even is some eyecandy in the second level, but unfortunately i found some bad tile and ESSPECiALLY enemy placement (too many of them in many places :-). Also, the music (freeze.j2b) doesn’t fit at all.
Oh, and guys, don’t try to instruct JelZe when it comes to languages, he knows them ALL. However, i can assure that the text events are german und ich muß es ja schließlich wissen…
Leibi: ist in Ordnung, kann aber noch besser werden :-)

Useful for all you guys who coded some neat Pascal progz some years ago (like me and some of my weirdo classmates). It fixes the Runtime error on fast PCs, that was generated by a "division by zero" bug in the Delay(X) command. Made by a german coder, of course. Not that i would care…;-)

P.S.:
i had to rate it 1 because reviewer "Lamer" gave it an inappropriate 8 (to "normalize" the rating).

Hmmm, i don’t know what to do with this. I have to wait for iCED’s opinion and then re-write the review, i guess.
From what i’ve seen of the level, it’s not exactly great.

P.S.: Truckloads of levels? Uh-oh. He seems to be making levels all day.

P.P.S.: Splash is right, TSF box is useless. Better do some useful things, admins (hint, hint)!

"Tsunami/Volcano Ruins" is not a bad pack of levels: the Medivo tileset is still underused and the design and eyecandy is good in most places. The idea of "mirroing" the level is interesting (same idea as in "Parallel Worlds" by Jeh and some other levels).
Unfortunately, i have some minor complaints: the level is too small, the design needs to be a bit more…you know…circular and i don’t like the "Lava" idea (3d background used as "lava" in the foreground!?) in the second level.
Everything else is fine and could be worth the download, esspecially for Battle fans.

The first thing i noticed in this pack was a major error in the readme: it wasn’t the dutch guys from Orange Games who published J2, but they did most of the coding (which makes them the actual "creators"). The game was published by Project 2 here in Europe and by GodGames in the United States and…oh heck…i have a level pack to rate! ;-)
Well, it uses a large number of custom files (six tilesets and six bg music tracks) and includes six battle levels using all the stuff.
No doubt, i always like the idea of using homecooked sets/music, but a wise author should not forget about the most important point, which is, you guessed it right, DESiGN. Not to mention the layer work. As you may have noticed, i didn’t like the design of most of the levels in this pack too much. It just needs some more work. The music files are not superb but interesting by the way.
All in all, this could be of interest for people who like custom files and battle levels that are very slightly above the average. I can’t take the decision for you :-)

Despite the fact i love being nostalgic, i won’t give any extra points here.
However, “Crown Castle” is (without a doubt) a neat level that has a very very cool design and some additional eyecandy. The weapon and event placement is very good, too (interesting spring arrangements for example). A small downfall is the background music from the Jazz 1 3D Bonus stages which doesn’t fit too well in my opinion.
Anyways, this is a great battle level for everyone and really WORTH THE DOWNLOAD.

Nice pack including re-made and fixed versions of three tilesets: J1: Decksta, J1: Industrial and J1: Muckamo. The masking is pretty good now. But i’m not sure if it was a great idea to put all three sets into one (kinda confusing and bigger file size).
Apart from that, the pack also includes a nice CTF example level (good design and layout).
All in all, not much too complain about and definitely worth the 91 KB. You, as a true Jazz2 fan, should DOWNLOAD iT NOW!

Indeed, dutch level makers strike back with this very cool pack.
“Putrid Monkey” contains eight brand new single player levels, it uses five homecooked tilesets and four custom music files. Some of the levels are very original (the car chase is fun for example) and the underused tilesets were used very well (J1-Diamondus, Temple, Strawberries!). By the way, it would be very cool, if you could include a readme text file that gives info about who made the tilesets and the music (selfmade tilesets will make me rate it higher :-).
The pack also includes a Jazz 2 Episode file (.j2e) which means you can easily chose it from within the game (you’ll see a new [not-so-beautiful!] button in the episode selection screen which is pretty cool). I hope the guys will release the J2E-Tool sometime to give everyone the chance to make something like that :-)
The eyecandy in all of the levels is on a very high standard, but the design is a tad confusing in some cases (some puzzles are annoying, but hey, its better than one of those 5-minute-run-thru-levels).
The music selection just fits great! Nothing to complain about there.
Unfortunately i didn’t hear music in “Overdose of Sand” (songcd4.s3m?). Authors, please check your files before uploading them to J2O :-)

Overall, this is definitely A MUST DOWNLOAD for EVERYONE, not only single player fans. Great work, dutchmen! :-)

P.S.: Dear Authors, please don’t use this page for discussing internal problems with the pack.

Cool, this is another great pack from Bartman, the creator of the well-known episode “Agent Jackrabbit”. This time its a bunch of multiplayer levels using four different tilesets (namely MEZ01, Cheq, Metropolis Day and Hocus Pocus, all of them are elite sets).
The levels itself are really interesting, because Bartman is one of the most creative level makers i saw. He tries to put new effects and ideas everywhere, which makes his levels pretty original and somehow different.
Reminds me of “Another Jazz 2 fan”, who also created his own (sometimes weird) style. What i want to say is…eyecandy and design are great :-)
Well, of course, some levels are better than others (i didn’t like “Outer Space” for example).
The background music is a good choice, you can’t do much wrong with songs by Alex Brandon, Necros and Unreal Tournament music.

Overall, this definitely gets a DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATiON from me. Everyone should get “Jazz 2 Battle Pack” now and put it in his/her Jazz2 folder (oh btw next time i will subtract one point for the stupid name, really).

P.S.:
Unfortunately, the third CTF level (bartctf3.j2l) doesn’t work. Maybe you should use the re-upload feature :-)

"An Impossible Mission II" is a pretty decent battle level using one of the sets i don’t like too much :-)
But still, it has a good design and some eyecandy. In my humble opinion, it has too many desctruct scenery events, vines and springs, which makes the navigation a bit uncontrollable sometimes, but maybe thats only me.
Anyways, battle fans may want to add this to their collection.

Oh, just one thing: please remove the carrotus.j2b music file from the ZiP archive and re-upload it. I often wonder if people noticed that webspace isn’t infinite.

Cool, i really like this pack. Esspecially the winter tileset and the two example levels. The “Snowfields” tileset has some helpful basic platform structures and some funky additional stuff like a snowman, flakes, a mountain, a weird tree etc..
And the example level is pretty neat if you ask me (check out the snow storm!).
The other tileset, “OldSands” contains about 75 tiles but isn’t that great, despite its based on “Snowfields” (or the other way round). The mask is, as iCED said, non-existant (“Snowfields” has one btw). One thing made me laugh though, this weird flying duck :-)But the Jazz animations are pretty useless und unfortunately there are too many blank tiles in both sets. I wonder why.

Apart from the very few downfalls, this is really worth seeing. DOWNLOAD NOW! Good work, CTKnux. (Of course, it could still be improved :-)

Wow! For me, "Agent Jackrabbit" is still one of the Top 50 creations for Jazz2 ever made.
The pack features 18 unique single player levels using six different tilesets and six cool background music tunes.
Like many famous releases, this awesome pack has a storyline that guides the player through the single player levels and makes the whole thing much more enjoyable and original.
The levels themselves are full of new ideas and other cool stuff. Not to mention the great design and eyecandy in all of the maps (this pack really showed what’s possible with MEZ01).
As mentioned in the author’s description, "Agent Jackrabbit" was also one of the first releases (if not the first) that used the cimatic movie effect with the black beam, which creates a much deeper atmosphere.
Furthermore, the author included some very elite modules by famous trackers. They really fit great and support the "Agent" feeling.
Unfortunately, the author didn’t include a readme file that could give some important info on the tilesets and music used (who made them?). Another downfall is that some of the levels are maybe a tad too short in my opinion.

However, here’s my conclusion: no Jazz2 fan should miss this awesome episode by Bartman but start DOWNLOADiNG iMMEDiATELY. It was one of the milestones in J2 level making history (i’m very undecided between 8.5 and 9 here).

P.S.: Attention, evil cheaters! :-)

Hehe, this is a pretty original level creation by Splash. Seems like the only purpose of it is to wish everyone a happy new year :-)
However, the design of the map (which uses the Candion tileset from the Jazz1 Holiday Hare) is good and there even is some funky eyecandy (mainly letters saying “2001”). The background music is the very awesome Jazz3 title music by no other than Alexander Brandon. Great choice, but it makes the ZiP file way too big. We will have to find a solution for that problem.

Apart from that, i RECOMMEND DOWNLOADiNG this level, just for the fun of it :-)

"Pshycedelic" (yes, thats the actual name :-) is definitely one of the best battle levels ever made with the underused Psych tileset. Despite it’s really not my favourite set, i really like this level a lot. The design is very decent (open, many platforms = ZA style™) and so is the layer work. And to get the one carrot you have to pass the smoking guy, which is a good idea.

Overall, i HiGHLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE to DOWNLOAD THiS neat level by Distruct: it’s 100% pure battle fun.

Aha. Interesting. Well, whatever…
No matter if the author finds it stupid or not, it uses one of my favourite J2 tilesets (hard to work with btw). The design of the map isn’t that bad actually except the one or two minor tile placement bugs i found. Probably, most people will find the powerups and the full energy carrot annoying. Furthermore, the eyecandy is average.
And the base placement made me say "Hmmmmm" :-)
