In my opinion, "Jackal’s Arena" is definitely a good battlepack.
There is some nice layer work and the design is okay (a bit confusing to navigate), too.
Regarding the weapon placement, i think are too many of them in some places (3 powerups in a row? Um…:-).
To sum it, this is a levelpack thats definitely above the average and a good download for all us battle fans ;-)

P.S.: Level 1 and 2 aren’t linked with each other, which is pretty annoying.

I dont have much to add to Splash’s comments here.
This level uses the great “Africa” tileset by Disguise (which is not included in the ZiP; bad idea!) but there are lots of bugs in the level itself (tile placement, enemies etc.).
Design is below average and there is no eyecandy at all. I also had some problems navigation through the level and didnt hear any background music (thats because “quickman.s3m” isn’t in the ZiP file either).
Unfortunately i really can’t recommend to download this one.

Because the author did not make that many improvements (except the option to choose water in the level or not, which is a pretty nice idea), i cut and pasted this from my original "MEW HOTEL" review:
—————
"As you probably know, i am not a fan of Hotels. Or lets put it this way: i don’t like them at all :-) However, i took a look a "MEW HOTEL" (all that CAPS use gets really annoying) and found out that there is a lot of things that should be improved. The design is kinda confusing/boring, and makes the level quite unplayable and the layer work is nonexistant […]. MEZ1 is pretty easy to use and/but the level still looks very blocky and simple. Sorry, i don’t see a proper reason to give a download recommendation here. (Changed:) Very very low four points.

P.S.: There are "better" hotels (i’m a bit afraid of using the word "better" here)." ————— Dont ask me why i increased my rating (i’m in the mood i guess :). Still not my favourite thing to download though (Not even close :).

Well, i dont think “jazzaberry land” is “a place where nothing goes wrong”. Actually a lot of things went wrong, like major tile misplacement(!) etc., the kinda boring Diamondus layout and the authors attempts to put some eyecandy (back layer!).
But hey, if it’s your first level, i’m sure you will able to improve your level skills step by step. Could need time but its worth it. Unfortunately i can’ t give a download recommendation for this level. Don’t worry, chris11! (Very High three points because its SP and there are some good ideas and even trigger crates)

P.S.: Background music is not included and the next level setting is missing.

Another great level by a our friend from Finland, Blade (member of tha iSDN army, ™).
The design is pretty awesome in my opinion and the MEZ2 eyecandy is very good, too. The music choice is super high quality as always (scandinavian demo style, yay!!!) and regarding the gameplay i’m sure its fun in both CTF and Battle mode.
No matter what mode you prefer, EVERYONE should really DOWNLOAD "Blast The Bunny" (well, boring level name i admit) RiGHT NOW!

P.S.: Me and "Pikablu" discovered a major bug: there are no jazz/spaz play start positions so most people can’t join in internet mode…the author should better fix this!!!

"Jail break" is a pretty cool and long enough single player map by Wille from Finland.
After you managed it to get out of your jail cell at the level start, you’ll have a lot of fun shooting enemies (i think they ARE placed well), blocks etc.. The design is far above the average and so is the eyecandy. Good work!
I definitely recommend to DOWNLOAD "Jail break" and fry some nasty turtles while the list servers are down once again (of course i don’t hope they’ll be down that often :-).

This "Frosty Battle" uses one of my favourite tilesets (namely Inferno) and has a pretty good layout. The eyecandy isn’t bad either.
As Nimrod already stated, it is a bit small, which makes it a good choice for duels or small groups.
My conclusion: every battle fan should DOWNLOAD this (very LOW seven points because of the size and the evil shield!)

P.S.: Nimrod: it was not his first level, only his first battle map. Wille already published most of his levels at UniverseJazz at that time.
P.P.S.: The next level setting is missing/wrong which is pretty annoying.

Great levels, but let me say it straight forward: way too small and easy for single player mode. Apart from that, “Residental Round” (the first level) really looks nice regarding eyecandy and design.
The music is choice is superb (i didn’t expect anything else from a scandinavian author :-) and it really fits perfectly to the level (which, btw, uses one of my favourite tilesets). Oh and a small note on that: it isn’t “City1g.it” (Street Wize) but “aznoone.j2b”, which is unfortunately NOT included in the ZiP.
However, Wille also included a bonus level that has nice eyecandy and design.
Overall a great homecooked creation to DOWNLOAD for everyone.

Another great battle map by this south african elite level and tileset producer.
The design is very open and therefore great and the eyecandy is pretty good also (esspecially check out the horizontal scrolling of the background layers).
Well, actually i don’t have much too say because the level is quite similar to "Bishka’s Warzone", which was also released by the same author. This level uses the same module for background music which is a good idea because it fits very good to the tileset/level atmosphere.
However, you should add "Bishka’s Railzone" to your favourite levels list and host a decent battle server once in a while. In other words: DOWNLOAD iT! (High seven points!).

Yay! I beta-tested this one for Shadow and as one of the level names promises, this pack really rocks!
The Town tileset is one my top favourite tilesets and its incredibly hard to work with. Now, both levels feature very good eyecandy and a great design (plus very smart weapon placement).
You will find all kind of weapons (even those you don’t like that much :-) and, as in most ML releases, some yummie/evil food. Despite or just because of that, the two levels allow a very fluent gameplay which makes it fun to battle in them.
Conclusion: "Street Wars" from Mystic Legends is the best Town Battle ever (by far!) and therefore a MUST DOWNLOAD! Very very high eight points!

Wow! Thats just what i’ve waited for since DethMan’s 7th Lava Fall tileset came out: a great battle level using this awesome set!
As always in south african levels, the design is very open, which makes it easy to navigate and pretty playable. The eyecandy is also very good, especially background layers.
And once again, Commander Dats made a great choice for the music. This tracked tune really rocks and fits to the atmosphere of the tileset and level perfectly.
My conclusion: "Bishka’s Warzone" definitely is A MUST DOWNLOAD, not only because its the first battle level that uses 7th Lava Fall. I was quite undecided between seven and eight points, but i think i’ll give very high seven points! Or low eight points? Hmmm…however i’m hosting a Bishka battle server right now…yay…

The author states that “he found an old level” and edited it: well, actually its “abattle1.j2l” that comes with every TSF (as far as i know).
Of course, it doesn’t use a custom tileset as stated in the Level info above but my favourite tileset ever, which is called Town.
However, “MrPlonker”/“hac2k” and his friend (“Annihilator”/“Nimrod”) tried to make some changes, most of them on layer 4.
Although there are some fun ideas (the “dancing” crates) and some more significant edited places, i don’t like the weapon placement and the tile placement/design that much.
Maybe i’ll rate this someday. Rating would be lower than 4 points. Sorry.

First of all, about the level type…it obviously is a battle level (not "Other").
Now, "Sandstrand O’ Hazes" is another coolish level by Spy that has a lot of his famous good-looking layer work and a very good layout.
The weapon selection is also great. The authors statement about the music ("it doesn’t sound "REALLY" cool") is a lie: the music rocks and fits to the level perfectly.
Well, not much to add here i think. Of course, i strongly recommend to DOWNLOAD THiS and host a battle server!

Oh and Spy: you won’t see me in CS. If i would like that crappy 3d thingy i would already be there :-)

WOW!!! “Mission Uncrossible” really is one of the best homecooked things you can ever download.
It is a single player level pack containing nine awesome levels that are connected through an epic (or maybe not-so-epic :-) storyline.
The pack uses two of the best homemade tilesets (namely BioLab and Battery Check) and eight outstanding music files (download “Mission Uncrossible music”) by artists like 4-mat and Elwood.
Eyecandy and design in levels like “nothing left” (i love the use of the Colonius tileset) or “find the code” are nearly perfect and the puzzles like in “anti intruders” are not too easy even for the J2 oldies.
The ZiP archive also includes nine(!) of Spy’s best multiplayer levels (Three Battle, three CTF, three Treasure and even three Race levels).
You really should see this yourself. It is a MUST DOWNLOAD and surely deserves its place in my personal all time top 10 list. High 9 points for “Mission Uncrossible” by Spy from Holland.

P.S.: It really is a pity that the talented author didn’t have the time to upload all this by himself.
P.P.S.: Not a good idea to post the levels and the music seperately. Will confuse many people, believe me.

Not only the eyecandy but also the design is truely superb! The puzzles in "Jungle trouble" (actually the level name is "Aliens Landed") are neither too hard nor too easy and once again its the awesome eyecandy which makes it easy to hide crates etc..
And once again Spy (from Holland :-) picked one of best modules for the background music (the music fits perfectly to layer 8) which creates a great level atmosphere.
Very very VERY HiGH eight points (8.6666…, i was very undecided between 8 and 9 points) for this single player level. EVERYONE should DOWNLOAD "Jungle trouble" right now!!!

Completely awesome!!! Spy’s "Newage" (originally released in January 2000) is definitely one of my top 10 favourite battle packs for Jazz Jackrabbit 2. It contains three battle maps using the Jungle, Castle and the Labrat tilesets that came with the game.
The eyecandy is really really incredible and so is the design. The author made nearly perfect use of the tilesets, as Iced already said. And i don’t think the navigation is a major problem here.
"Newage" also uses custom music files and i can’t say much about them…you have to listen yourself. They have an outstanding quality!
To sum it up: this battle pack is a MUST DOWNLOAD. Really, this is "la cremè de la cremè". DOWNLOAD NOW!!! I give out unbelievable 9 points for this ‘coz it rox so much.

Obviously, the author of "Diamondus Roastzone" (btw not an original name) really tried to put some eyecandy here.
Unfortunately the resulting level isn’t very playable: there are many small islands in both the normal layer and some background layers which makes it hard to hop around without getting confused.
The design is average (level is a bit too small for example) and i don’t like the music choice at all.
Close to six points because of the nice eyecandy.

Oh and a remark about "first levels". You already posted levels here. Please don’t take this as an offense, but you can’t choose which one is your "first level". A first level is a first level (esspecially if you posted it in public, namely J2O). No escape from that fact :-)
