Aha. A level pack (boring name btw) including three levels (that use the following tilesets: Tube Electric, Carrottus and Psych).
Single player start positions are not included. Very annoying! Same with the music (for example, the first level uses FC’s famous “Second Reality” track afaik, which is an awesome song but it just don’t fit for this level…you should better use the default music files if you use Epic tilesets…that would also save web- and diskspace!).
The design and eyecandy of all three levels is average, nothing special.
On a side note, it should say “Choose a hat” instead of “Choose a heat” in level 3 :-)))

Conclusion: not bad, but not the levelpack-of-the-year either :-) Download or not? I have no idea!

P.S.:
The good point in this pack is that “blaster” used the Psych tileset (very underused in my opinion).[This review has been edited by Aiko]

“BattleX” is a VERY dull (kinda obtrusive already) “Battle1” clone that features a massive lack of foreground eyecandy and original ideas. That’s about it. (A pity that J2O has to waste webspace hosting this.)
Oh yeah, another advise: please start all your levels FROM SCRATCH instead of editing given levels. Actually i should not rate this because it’s a clone…well anyways. It gets what it deserves :-)

I don’t have much to add to my dutch colleagues. The author of this level definitely tried to put some eyecandy and to build a original level. In part, he succeeded: some of the layer work looks very nice, then again there are other areas that may confuse the player. I even found some major bad tile placement (chatroom!). The design is so-so because there are just too many dead-ends that really annoy me. A good, classic battle level needs a circular design.
Personally, i also find the level a tad too large (about 140*60 tiles) and roomy (for a decent battle). The “dragonsfunk” background music is very good, but the regular “Jungle” would’ve saved disk- and webspace here.
Well, overall i think it’s an “okay level”. Collectors or fans of the “Jungle” tileset may want to download.[This review has been edited by Aiko]

Wow! As everyone else already said, Agama’s “Heaven” is definitely the best czechian tileset of all times :-)

It includes more than 600(!) incredibly beautiful tiles showing all kinds of cool stuff like flamingos, flowers, clouds for the background, some funky animations and a lot more. Not to forget all basic elements the passionate level builder needs: walls, bridges, vines, diagonal structures (very important!). The whole look of the set is awesome: very clear and detailed.

The author also built a “small” example level, which is…really stunning as well! You have to solve some key puzzles that perfectly use the trigger events. The “vision” background tune doesn’t fit perfect but it’s a great old chiptune classic and therefore still a good choice :-)

The readme file (that’s not plain text format, sorry) and the included image “easter.gif” confused me a little…but well, that won’t affect my rating (i was very, very undecided between 8.5 and 9 here).

Of course, this is A TOP PRiORiTY DOWNLOAD recommended to EVERY Jazz Jackrabbit 2 fan!!! Don’t waste more time. Step into this “heaven” and load the JCS! :-)

Well, i’d like to start with a comment about the name: “Here at long last” is not really a good name for a single player level pack, is it?
Anyways, the pack contains six levels using the following tilesets: Hell (two levels), Carrottus, an palette edited version of Carrottus (of which i forget the name :-) and last but not least Tube Electric.
And i’m honest, the first four levels didn’t impress on me much. The design was quite dull (plain running, hardly any obstacles or real puzzles) and eyecandy was pretty much non-existant. But, surprise surprise, the quality suddenly rose up in the last two levels (the music from Jazz1 is also NOT included! Very bad!). Those two Tube Electric are quite funky and fun to play. Another thing to mention is the general enemy overflow in some areas of certain levels.
But well, if i take the pack as a whole i think it’s still defenitely WORTH THE DISKSPACE. And it’s six levels, which is quite a lot. Yeah, you get seven lucky points from me, BD! :-)[This review has been edited by Aiko]

“Christmas” (wow, dull name!) is a very decent single player level creation from Hungary. Despite the fact, i saw most of the arrangements in Toxic Bunny’s “Bloxonian Citadel” (which was also great) already, there are still some fresh ideas in it. Design and eyecandy are of high quality and the amount of enemies and goodies is just right in my opinion. And there is no place where you could get stuck or getting annoyed by unfair puzzles (not even in the spring room :-), which garuentuees fluent playing.
To sum it up, it’s ten minutes of great single player fun and REALLY WORTH THE DOWNLOAD!

First of all, i would like to say that i really appreciate the fact that the author used really underused tilesets like EvilMike’s “Temple” (which is NOT included in the ZiP archive for some reason!!!) and Jazz1 Crysilis. The third level uses good old Tube Electric.
Design and eyecandy is so-so in all three levels (slightly below the average if you ask me). Some areas of the levels look really nice while other are really dull and empty (for example, simply putting some boring platforms won’t lead to anything). There also are some minor tile and eyecandy bugs (no big deal tho’).
The music in the first and the last level is just weird and not really of good quality (of course, “Song2” from Jazz1, which is used for the second level, is amazing as you may know already :-). And shields stink, didn’t you know that?
Anyways, i’ll be so kind and give you a rating above the magic number (which is 5, for those who dont know :). Because you used “different” tilesets and its three levels. But actually…hmmm…rating lowered to 5 again…dont ask me :)[This review has been edited by Aiko]

Hmmm, i guess i like this level a tad more than you, iCeD. Mainly because of the original concept and design. And there even is some eyecandy actually. The background music (freeze.j2b) doesn’t fit too well, though.
In my opinion, “Future Pyramids” could at least be worth a try :-)

First of all, it was a good idea to use this difficult tileset. Very plucky, MoonShadow!
The general layout of the level is okay, including weapon selection and the like. Well, i have to admit that i don’t like the sucker tubes too much and the copter event is also quite annoying (Lori can’t grab the copter btw). Anyways, the eyecandy is slighly above average, too.

To sum it up: not a bad level at all. Worth the download if you like the Colonius tileset or need another battle level for your server.

Tsk, tsk, all you “occasional and medium reviewers” with your extreme and unbalanced ratings…listen up! Here comes a real review :-)))

“Battle over diamondus” is built in one of the most overused tilesets of all times. The design is a bit dull (just some boring platforms) and the eyecandy needs massive improvement (the author hardly used any other layers than #4 and #8).
Also, there is no background music which only supports the impression of a level that just missed something (call it the special touch).
Two minor bugs are the wrong next level setting and the lack of single player start positions.
As you have probably noticed already, i still prefer the classic “Battle Over Carrottus” :-) Battle fans may still want to download this for their (already incredibly large) collection.

SPEEDDEMON” is an extremely confusing race level using the “Redcounter” tileset by mirrow (a fellow german jazzer! :-). The tileset with its red digits is nice but it wasn’t used properly here. The design of the map is simple and eyecandy is nearly non-existant. The author promised “originality” in his description but if i’m honest, i didn’t find any in the level. Only some annoying warps and the fact, the whole level dissappears suddenly (using animations), which is not really funny but horribly confusing.
Furthermore, i didn’t hear any music. Bad idea. I need background music in Jazz2, esspecially in a race (as a motivation :-). The next level setting was also wrong.
One of the few positive things in this level is the fact that it’s quite long.

But overall, i can’t give a download recommendation here, sorry.

Oh, one more advice, Pre. Please don’t mess up this page with comments like “thanks” and “watever”. Thanks :-)

Okay, lets be honest: i find the levels in this pack quite annoying. Another tube maze thingy, sigh… and actually, i didn’t get the point of the level at all. Puzzle, training, challenge, or how do you call this? Well, there are some good points in it actually: it uses a custom tileset (Cool Day by IceMAN as far as i remember) and comes in three versions (Day, Night and some other using a shifted colour palette). Not to forget the music choices: Purple Motion/FC’s background MOD (“Shadowrun”, 1993) is always worth mentioning (AWESOME! :-) and the “Cracking Ice” tune isn’t bad either.
Unfortunately, the level can’t meet the standards of the promising background music (only 3 points, sorry :-)
There are also some very annoying bad next level settings…tsktsk.[This review has been edited by Aiko]

To put it short: this is a confusing tube maze. “Pipe Dream” (also known as “Pipe Mania”) was a cool DOS stategy game by the way. Anyways, the whole design of this level is way too simple (Tubeelectric is an easy tileset, too).
At least the author made some initial attempts to put a bit of eyecandy in the background and elsewhere.
But still…fun to play, as BlackDeath said? I don’t know. I guess its just not my favourite style…sorry.

Heh! I remember playing the Lost Vikings Demo back in 1994! Nice platformer, but somehow it was too slow and too puzzle orientated. Well, lets concentrate on your conversion.
This tileset includes 300 tiles from the original Lost Vikings game. You’ll find all kinds of stuff in it: animated enemies, foreground and background structures, walls, water, lava etc. etc.. I really like the idea of converting this to Jazz2. And i’m sure you can do some real nice levels with it. In his small Single Player example, the author already showed the potential of his tileset.
Great work, Jaws! (high 7.5 points, VERY close to 8…i was undecided :-). And a MUST DOWNLOAD for everyone! No doubt.

“Carrot Gardens” is a pretty small level including A LOT of weapons and a nice platform design (i really like that). Layer work is okay (not much actually). There is some dull empty space in the middle of the level though. Well, to put it short: if you like small battle (rabbit massacre) levels, you MAY want to download this.
Unfortunately, the next level setting is wrong, which is annoying for people hosting it online.

Hey, i like the “Tree-Tops”. This level has a quite original design and eyecandy (cool background layer!). I admit it’s not very large but somehow…tight. Don’t know, maybe it’s the background which produces this impression. Anyways, the weapon selection will garantuee a real battle and overall you can have some fun with this. As Gargoyle said, a CTF version for our flag fans is also included. Could be a nice replacement for Stupid CTF i guess :-)
So WHY NOT DOWNLOAD? If you ask me, i’ll keep it on my harddisk.

Lets start with some basic advice: 1.) never use those [brackets] in filenames. 2.) never call yourself God.
Well, as for the actual tileset, i don’t think it’s very good. It has about twenty semi-useful blocks (walls, arrows, coloured squares etc.) and the rest is emptyness (i wonder why). Obviously, the author didn’t have too much experience in tileset making which could explain why he didn’t use the actual 32*32 pixel blocks. The masking is okay (automasking should have worked here :-) but overall, i can’t give a download recommendation for this.
If i were you, stiletto, Chaos or whatever your name is today, i would practice and try around a bit more before releasing the next one in the series :-)

P.S.:
An example level is also missing which shows the authors lack of confidence in his own creation. Sorry.[This review has been edited by Aiko]
