Unfortunately, I think this level is overrated. Read my review below to find out why:
The eyecandy? There isn’t really anything special about it. It is perhaps slightly above average, but not really enough to make much of a difference. However, I can tell a lot of effort was put into it.
The gameplay was alright I guess. It was very creative in some spots. But the level is very big for a Ground Force level, perhaps a little too big. I was getting a vast amount of lag playing this level. Nethertheless, it was still alright I guess.
The Placement was fairly average. I know this may sound a little weird, but sometimes, placing things in weird positions doesn’t look very appealing to the eye. I know it doesn’t have anything to do with the eyecandy, but I just thought I would like to state that. The level was kinda confusing at times.
This level wasn’t that original. It still reminds me a lot of BlurredD’s levels. But maybe it’s just me, so I the originality won’t affect this level’s ratings at all.
Overall, this level was a good level, but there is still room for improving. I’m not saying it’s a bad level at all, my review mainly states why I think this level was overrated. Most of the good things about this level are listed in the other reviews for this level. Sorry, Dx.
6.5/10.[This review has been edited by The Programmer]
That’s because Dx obviously likes BlurredD’s level ideas. Like his J1 Deserto, or his Hot Springs level. They are a lot like BlurredD’s: the music, etc. I’m assuming you are the same person as Dx Dc. If not, please correct me.
No offense to Dx of course. It’s just I’m not too keen on these levels.[This review has been edited by The Programmer]
What the? This is one weird and buggy CTF level. The 2 CTF Bases are just located around the top, and you can’t actually fall down the water hole, as a block just immediately appears and stops you from falling down in it. I will rate this later, once I understand this more clearly.
Could the author explain how this is meant to be played? I really don’t understand this.
Let’s start the review.
- EYECANDY – (6.2/10)
Like Satan said, the eyecandy was very basic in this level. It’s still good, but it just has an empty feel to it. Unfortunately I didn’t like the background at all, it didn’t blend in with layer 4. Still, the eyecandy overall in this level was slightly above average.
- PLACEMENT – (6.5/10)
Good! There was nothing in there which I didn’t like, it was all good. A bit boring though.
- GAMEPLAY/LAYOUT – (6.3/10)
The level itself isn’t THAT small, but it could’ve been a little bit bigger. It’s a good level for dueling, though. ;) Anyway, there was one part of the gameplay which I don’t like: and that’s the fire that hurts you. I, personally, don’t like how some people place hurt events in multiplayer levels, but well, maybe it’s just me. The layout was allaround good.
- OVERALL – (6.3/10, which I’ll round down to 6.2)
Your everyday slightly above average battle level. Not much to say here.

UPDATE: Tileset now included.
Oh yes, and Labratkid, the reason why I placed no NO FIRE ZONES was because it is played as a Treasure Map, so there is no need to fire, you can’t hurt your opponent (but you can push them back by firing at them).
This was more of a test, so I’ll release a new version of it with better quality (don’t worry, Bjarni, I’ll make it in 1.23). Just wanted to see what you guys would think of it.[This review has been edited by The Programmer]
Okay, let’s start!
- EYECANDY – (2/10)
This level has almost no eyecandy, unfortunately. The level is also very cluttered, I’m afraid I can’t say anything else, the eyecandy is bad I’m afraid. :(
- PLACEMENT – (1/10)
What the? Thre is no carrots, ammo or anything else really inside this level. This is more of one big empty room. Again, not very good.
- GAMEPLAY/LAYOUT – (2/10)
Again, another bad aspect of this level. The gameplay isn’t very original, and the layout is poor.
- OVERALL – (1.6/10, which I’ll round up to 1.7)
Hopefully I wasn’t too critical when reviewing this, but it really wasn’t too good a level. As for the author, try harder next time. Maybe you might get some ideas from downloading some of the more better battle levels listed in the downloads section.
