Well, since this haven’t been reviewed, I say something about this.
The song were very good. It sounded groovy and dancy… Funky, yes. Everything were like it should be. I didn’t hear any errors there, either. Too bad i can’t say much more since I’m not a professional in reviewing stuff. ;(
Your songs are great. This song should be downloaded, listened and maybe used in a level. Hope you make more ;) Download recommendation!
Fanolint thrown into funk. It sounds interesting, yeah. But it’s also a bit offkey sometimes, uses a bit unquality samples, is very repetitive, and I miss any gradation. Cheap tricks like adding or removing instruments don’t save it much too. And this time, it has also pretty boring drumms.
The melody variations are, like always, kind of AWESOME, you really have jazz talent. But when I have to like the tune, it should have more than it.
A diffrent funk song indeed. I like the fact that it has. Diffrent drum sounds at last. The old ones were kind of boring after a while. The beggining of the song gives you the feeling that it is going to be good. I like the main synth sound in most of this. The change of pitch in the song adds that disco touch if you know what i mean. So far, this is probably the most well put together and diffrent song I have heard so far.
By the way, the only reason I put 9.5 instead of 10 is because my ratings always get removed when i do it.

hahaaaaaaaaa!! Something new, completely diffrent from the all the other remixes, even yours!!!! BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUCH BETTTERR!!!!!!!! I would give a rating but the song was so much improved i couldn’t say. But I would give you a Nine and a half.
The begining not good but after that its really gooooood!!! You make it wearry nice. I dont think its too colourful. The rythm is really nice. Weary enjoyable music, its one of the best musics I ever heard.
Keep it up!!! ;)
Its really deserve 8.5, my problem with it is I cant find out on what kind of lvl it woud be good. But its really good for listening!!
Download recommendation? OF COURSE!!
Hmm…Good job. This music is very well balanced to perfection. It seemed to get better as the song went on. In the beginning I was like “omg” not a very good start. It seemd very boring in the start, then all the sudden it’s like BAM, out of no where when you start t feel the rythem of the song. It did improve as it went on.I look at a piece of music like an essay. You want to make it better as you go along, then have a good ending. So this is what im gonna do, I think I’ll give you an 7.5 because of the balance and the improvement as the song went on.The reason why i took of . 5 to make it a 7.5 is becasue I dont think I would use this in any multiplayer levels. I would recommend putting this song in a single player level but that is just my opinion.
Dowload recommendation…, depends.

Rating 50 second fight:
To start:
In these five levels you will play with a new type Treasure Hunt: 50 second fight!
Five levels:
In five levels it is the intention to catch 100 gems within 50 seconds. If none of both succeeds, the floor collapses and then must there the someone rapidly gems catch, before the other one does it.
Special events:
In all the five levels there are a number of events. With the events you can deserve extra gems. Original considered, say! Congratulations! And oh, yes… in the Level Description stands which events all levels have…
Minuses:
There is unfortunately a number of shortcomings. First: the eyecandy in level 5 is very bad, because everyone who cannot against of epileptic attacks (such as my brother Peter) is that a very worse level.
We discovered it too late and Peter lies now in bed. The chamber has entirely darkened, he has a lot of water and my mother must call the doctor…
Moreover it is not also honest as everyone has more than 100 gems and after the 50 seconds the the one with the lowest number of gems nevertheless picks up the win…
Conclusion:
Although we have delighted our a lot on this game, we only advise these levels for everyone whom has no charge of epileptic attacks and which it does not find terrible that the player with the lowest number of gems wins…
Mark: 5,9

[Rating (5.9) clearance. You downrated the level basing just upon the fact that it’s bad for people suffering from epilepsy. It’s not the author’s fault, as the game manual advises epileptic people not to play this game. ~Cooba]

this amp rapes your ears. and no, it’s not funk.it’s more funk rock. with a ‘sax’ sounding more like a horrible bröl
It’s more than milk, but not quite a milkshake, know what I mean? I like it, but it doesn’t move me as much as your Labrat mix did. Good job, anyway, and keep bringing up those remixes! Don’t let these (semi-)negative reviews get to you. It’s just a matter of taste.
[Let’s not start adding signature images to this site – FQuist]
As much as I like the tune, I can’t help but feel it’s just a sample change. It doesn’t have the feel of freshness the original Castle Funk remix had, nor the uniqueness/awesomeness of it’s succesors.
It’s excellent for listening, and for playing, but it just doesn’t bring anything new to the plate.
DR- Yeah, it’s sounds excellent, but compared to your other tunes, this one falls short.
EDIT @Crimi- I like it, but I also like the JJ2 Diamondus tune. There’s just little difference between the two for me to rate it high.
[takes a squeaky-hammer to Dorian] I wanted to be the first to review this! Augh. T_T; [ahem] Anyway…
Introduction:
Like a Diamondous in the rough, this piece finds itself unburied from the sands of time. But does it shine in the sky? Or is it simply an immature piece of coal? Let’s find out.
Song Analysis:
As far as I can tell, it basically goes like this. fod took the Jazz Jackrabbit 2 arrangement of “Diamondous” and heavily arranged it into what he considered a “funk” style. While it does indeed sound like “funk,” or “jazz,” there just seems to be no real flair to it like with his other stuff. Almost like he didn’t try as hard with this one. Needless to say, I’m kind’a disappointed…
Sample Analysis:
As usual, all samples are clear and true with no noticable graininess.
Final Analysis:
Mm… I’m kind of disappointed with this one, fod… I’m sorry to say, but I really am. As mentioned, this more or less sounds like a simple rearrangement of “Diamondus” from Jazz Jackrabbit 2. And that’s it. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting here, but this wasn’t really it… It’s still Jazz to me(the genre, I mean), but it doesn’t have that flair of absolute awesomeness that your “Hell Freezes Over” remix had.(In case you couldn’t tell, I really, really liked that remix.)
Score: 5.0
“Insert Aladdin Reference Here” Points: 0.7
Total Score: 5.7
Recommendation?:
As Dorian said, you don’t regret this download in the least. Just don’t expect much as far as changes go.
Miscellanious Note of the Moment:
Considering this is the first truly bad(read: “average”) review I’ve given to fearofdark, I’d say he’s doin’ just fine. Heh heh.

==================Simple Review==================
Base Score: 5/10
Point Bonuses: +4
[+4] You know what? I’m shooting myself in the foot here, but I sincerely think this song deserves full marks. Or close to it… It is absolutely beautiful and delivers exactly what it promises; a funk remix of “Labrat”. If it wasn’t for that part around 2:09 that sounds exactly like the source material, this could easily be given +5 points…
Point Deductions: -0
[-0] No deductions. None. Whatsoever.
Final Score: 9/10
=================Extended Review=================
Introduction:
A complete retooling of “Labrat” from Jazz Jackrabbit 2, done in a seemingly trendy “funk” style. Does it hold a candle to fearofdark’s other works, or will we be left just blowing in the wind? Let’s boogie!
Song Analysis:
As mentioned, this is a complete retooling of “Labrat” from Jazz Jackrabbit 2. While not quite as funky as fod’s “Dark Groove Funk” or “Hell Freezes Over Funk,” it still has that wonderful funky vibe I’ve come to expect from these kinds of arrangements. Unfortunately, this particular piece of music seems to borrow a little more heavily from the original piece of music than “Hell Freezes Over”. As such, a lot of patterns (particlarly the patterns around 2:09.5) sound pretty much note-for-note, aside from the added drums.
Features/Sample Analysis:
More beautiful guitar samples with some equally awesome drums and synths mixed in. Everything is clear as a bell with no real grain to it. What more can I say?
Final Analysis:
Aw, fod… I’d say “you let me down,” but honestly, despite the fact it’s quite a bit too similar to the original Labrat, you really haven’t. I really, really like this piece! I just kind of wish you’d done something a little more funky with that “awe” area around 2:09.5…
Recommendation?:
HECK. YES.

Your friendly neighborhood S3M/MIDI artist, Joseph “Doc Lithius” Collins
Introduction:
Now this is an extremely funky rendition of “Hell Freezes Over” which sounds as though it has bits of “Jazz Be [Darned]” thrown in for good measure. So let’s measure how good…or bad this is.
Song Analysis:
As far as I can tell, this sounds like what you’d get if you merged Jazz and Funk.(…no, I don’t mean “Junk”.) In fact, it reminds me quite heavily of “Awakening Road” from the “Rockman X Arranged” soundtrack.(Which was basically Rockman X music jazzified.) The song itself seems like it has bits and pieces of “Jazz Be [Darned]” thrown in just for kicks. Either that, or I need to listen to “Hell Freezes Over” more closely.
The arrangement is more or less recognizable, but I sincerely doubt it could sound any better than it does even if it relied more heavily on the original track for its notes and whatnot.
Sample Analysis:
There’s no dirty samples here whatsoever. Lots of awesome guitars of varying types(which I might swipe later [shifty eyes]) and some really nice drum samples as well. Everything sounds terrific together and not a single note sounds out of whack or out of tune.
Final Analysis:
All and all, it’s a damned fine track that any Jazz(or Jazz) lover would appreciate fully. There are so many good things I could be saying about this, but words fail me. Utterly. There is no reason not to give this piece full marks. At all. It fades in wonderfully, loops perfectly, and is absolutely great to listen to. I’m not entirely sure it would work as level music, but I can’t see why not. This is definately going on my MP3 player next time I shift things around.
Score: 9.0
“I Can’t Think of Any Reason Not to Give This a 10.0” Points: 1.0
Total Score: 10.0
Recommendation?:
Yea, verily. Download this and listen to it if you haven’t yet. You will totally not regret it.
Notice of Mention:
Congratulations on getting the very first 10 I’ve ever given out! The sad thing is now I’m going to expect this kind of quality from you with everything you make. XD

Very well done, well done. The song has the feel of Labrat with a tiwst. The song tho gets a bit slow in the middle, and it seems to repeat alot. But the song also has a groove that gets the listiner’s attantion fast. Plus the song repeats so you can use it in levels.
Overall well done.
I recommend the Download of this song if you need to make a good furture setting level.
I know some of those samples, the desert song from blades battle pack.
At first i thought oh no fear of darks slost his win streack, because it didn’t sound like funk or labrat at first, but then i hearld it was the labrat song,i hate the origanal labrat but i love (most) of its remixis.
and this one i love cos of the samples of the desert one and its funky beat.
