Thanks Violet, I’m sure zapS appreciate someone noticed the edit of the castle tiles.

Niiice. This is a really good edit, especially when compared to the horrible Carrotus Mountain. Not all that much is added – only twelve lines of tiles, not counting the waterfall (-.2) and Psych mountains (-.1, I think) – but almost everything that’s added is good and useful and obviously part of Carrotus. I don’t think the beehive is a good idea, but most is. For example, Carrotus Fix adds greater control over the edges of walls and caves (the cave part of which looks great… the walls could use some more work, though), extra vine stuff (from Psych, but it doesn’t clash), log bridges, and some increased cave compatibility. It also fixes the background castle and the giant carrot, improves a number of masks, allows you connect thin platforms to normal ground, and probably some other stuff I’m not thinking of. Included are six different palettes, including the original two (but not Easter), and somehow I manage to like them all. Quite an accomplishment.
If Carrotus Fix gets edited again, there are two main things to change: spend more time on the sloped and top tiles for the walls, as Carrotus uses more shading for its edges, and do something about those half-size tiles sprinkled through the set. The set can be improved, but it’s much better than most of what we’re getting these days.
I would recommend giving different filenames to the tilesets. The @ and _ characters might give problems when downloading them via JJ2.
This is really quite good for a MS paint tileset. I’d never use it, but you did very well for having such a limited resource =p
Eyecandy 3/5: There wasn’t a whole lot, but some tilesets don’t necessarily need a whole lot. I would have done the stars in the background a bit differently, but that’s just my preference. The ground tiles were hand drawn quite well, though the spikes are very hard to see against a dark background. I would have made them a different color entirely such as reddish brown to contrast the other colors.
User-friendliness 2/5: The tileset is fairly small, so you won’t get lost looking for specifi tiles. However, there could have been many more types of tiles for events such as poles or sucker tubes.
Originality 0/1: Slimy Land and ET’s Planet are both similar to your tileset, but I still commend you for doing so well with MS paint.
this tileset is pretty good! or…
I mean REALLY good. I think its attracting there are so many tiles and that’s cool cuz you can everything you have dreamed about to do with other tilesets..+6 for that thats not all! it’s so good so there is other COLORS! haha. that could be good if you are allergic to bluegray! :P +1 for that! and then my favourite: the exploding jazz and the animations. all signs is also cool i think so that together is: +2 SO! Rating: 9!!!
en liten hälsning till den duktige makaren! ;P öh.. ja.. jag har hört mycket tunga vingslag på senaste tiden! du vet UGGLORNA! säl för det!uhm..det var nog allt, gör fler!(tilesetts) :):)
(Rating (9) removal due to IP match. While an IP match does not automatically cause a rating removal, it does tend to bias the reviewer, and in this case you are rating the upload 1.5 points higher than the highest rating from someone whose IP does not match that of the uploader. In order to be allowed to review the uploads of close relatives, friends, or whatever your relation is to zapS, you will need to present a detailed, unbiased review at a slightly higher standard than usual.

Ok, time for me to review this, just to get rid of all the short unsupported ones :P
Standard Tiles
In short, I only have one thing to say about: MEZ-wannabe. Seriously, about 75% of the set is nothing but blocks or parts of blocks, talk about a huge collection. Not just the “one tile” kind or the “four in one” kind, you can make them as big or as smal or as oddly shaped as you want, this set comes with every kind imaginable. I’m especially impressed with the slopes: most of the blocks have to white (top) or to black (bottom) gradients and the problem with slope tiles is that they extend beyond the tile when the slope ends. Fortunately, this set comes with a huge collection of blocks with “end of slope” gradients, for every situation possible. However, it is sometimes hard to make out which one you actually need :P
As for the blocks themselves, the author focussed on two main colors, grey and green. There are some black ones which fade to purple. The red ones are actually Sucker tubes (more on that later), but I really like the look of the grey with the blue inside.
Extra Stuff that’s good
I said before roughly 75% is nothing but blocks. The rest is filled up with extras (duh) in the shape of H- and V-poles, spikes for all four directions (in standard orange or moving purple crystals), destructable blocks, (all kind, ripped), a hook (also ripped), keyholes and keys (in red, blue, green and yellow), text signs (ripped and edited, he even made seperate signs for regular and boss levels), arrows (ripped from JJ1), invisible tiles and the Sucker Tube mentioned before. Now what makes the tube special is that it can go diagonally. Now, the event itself can either go horizontally or vertically, so using the diagonal part correctly requires some creative cheating. But it’s not impossible :)
Eye Candy
You’d think there wasn’t any space left for that, well think again ;). With a name like “Crystal Blocks”, it’s not surprising you can find crystals. The best part is you can animate them: either letting them shine and glow, or just blast them like the knights in Castle. speaking of animations, Other pieces of Eye Candy include some standard Smiley-Faces, letters and numbers, and even some random Jazz sprites. The funniest piece would have to be the block with “I was here”. For the background there’s a new Texture made by Olsen, and some pointy orange mountains. If you want you can use the smaller for it as shown in the Example Level.
Masking
As always with blocky sets, not jagged edges or anything. The event tiles are all masked properly: the spikes edges are cut off, the poles are unmasked, and the hook only had that little strip. Nothing worth complainig about. :) Hidden mask messages are slowly turning into a necessity, even this set has them :P
Verdict
A lot of effort was put in it, you can tell by it’s sheer size. Even so, it’s still only a giant collection of blocks, and may not really appeal to anyone. Still, he shows promise. I’ll give it a 7.5 for the effort. Keep it up :)
- JelZe GoldRabbit =:3
One note, the level is 1.24, when zapS and me finished everything we forgot that the level is 1.24, so, now you know.
Also, Odin as you said ““kaja” sign (probably dutch for exit or something)”
Is wrong, it’s Swedish for Jackdaw. :)
Why didn’t you convert it into 1.23? You know that you could’ve easily done so, with the tools we have out now.
Also, why did Violet remove my rating while this clown keeps his 10.0 rating?
Onto the the new review.
Please don’t zip your files so that it unzips into a seperate folder. It’s annoying. -1 for that.
Anyways, this tileset is basically a bunch of blocks. The drawing style reminds me of Reactor Core, and this tileset has just as much eyecandy. It has some rarely-seen tiles, too, like letters (rarely seen outside of tests and hotels), smiley faces, a “boss” sign, a “kaja” sign (probably dutch for exit or something), other signs, key and lock tiles (with color-matching blocks), stomping Jazz (one of which fits right into a single tile, cool-o), and much much more. If you’re looking for a test tileset, this one should work for you. 8 -1 = 7 out of 10. Download recommendation.
What the crap you guys? This tileset in no way deserves anything above a 7.
The tileset is very small, has hardly any variation of colours in it. While the masking is good enough, the tileset is simply very, very dull.
Most of it consists of very 2d, almost entirely solid one colour blocks, very mez-like only without any texture or variation whatsoever. As you get to the bottom there is more of a 3d side-walk esque thing with, again, almost no variation whatsoever. I don’t see how the flat blocks and the very wide 3d tiles are supposed to fit together. It looks there are tiles that switch between the two, but even together they still don’t look that good. Your example makes good enough use of it. I like the background, but the foreground needs some serious work.
As far as alterations and eyecandy go, there are trees, if they can be called that. You get a brown stick and a green oval, I guess in theory that’s a tree. There are also ‘railing’ like things, which, while it is an okay concept, the railings themselves are merely 1 pixel wide lines. There are also tiles for rain, and a stoplight thing useful for lighting effects. There is no textured background. However, there are a couple building-like tiles which are fairly cool, albeit simplistic. You at least made good use of them in your example level.
There are some animations on here, and while I give you kudos for making them, they aren’t all that interesting or anything.
Look, don’t get me wrong, here, zapS, for a beginner you avoided a lot of common mistakes. The masking is quite well done too. Any tone of sarcasm and annoyance in my review is simply because of the gross overrating we have going on. Your tileset is simply okay. It isn’t bad, but it certainly does NOT deserve an 8.1. That’s the only reason I was inspired to write this, I was very annoyed.
8.2?
overrating, in my opinion.
Well.. its quite small tileset. small tilesets can be good, so its not a bad thing. Too bad that tileset doesn’t have much colors in it, many colors are brown, green.. or different shades of gray. ( i hope i spelled that right ;p )
Which gives this tileset a boring look. tileset is exstremely easy to use though, and there’s some eyecandy tiles, which make me rate higher. well.. final rating is 6.7
BUILD WITH THIS: I don’t think i would.. its too small for me.
DOWNLOAD RECOMMEDATION:Your decision. ;D
My Rating:
Tiles:
Nice job, though a little too un-detailed.
You include all the basic tiles, with the possible exepction of a hook, but since I think hooks are sux, I give this 10 of 10.
Masks:
No mask messages! :( Besides this, the maksing is great. No bugs whatsoever. 10 of 10.
Music:
You stole the music from Hotel Deluxe! I do like the music, though, so you’ll get a 5 of 10.
Hype:
Hype is basically the rating before I reviewed this. In this case, 8.1 of 10.
Tilt: I’ve seen better, but you’re new. 8 of 10.
10 + 10 + 5 + 8.1 +8 = 41.1 / 5 = 8.22 = 8.2
Final Rating = 8.2

First glance on tileset: Oh, it looks okay, some strange puff things
The Tileset:
Eye Candy Stuff: You have a tree, some good animations, and a clouds and a sort of city background. It fits, and it isnt too busy.
The rain is a plus, and it looks fine, but you may have too put an empty tile, because it looks a litle too busy.
2.0/2.5
Blocks and stuff: Oh, cool! Blocks! You can make shapes with them, and even spell Kaja! Cool! I like them. Though, a level can be boring with all the same tiles.
2.2/2.5
Masking:
You did a good job on this. I haven’t found any tile bugs.
2.0/2.0
Can be used easily: Yes, you can put them in any shape, but the \/ shape can be a little hard for real beginners.
1.0/1.5
Shootable Blocks: You included all the blocks, blocks you need to shoot with rockets, fire and stuff. Also the star, the 1,2,3 and 4x. So short: All thats needed.
1.5/1.5
Rating: 2.0 + 2.2 +2.0 +1.0 +1.5 = 8.7.
Use this: Yes!
Good job! Maybe you can make some more tilesets? :)
