For: Crouching Lizard Hidden Turtle
Level rating: 1.6
Rating
2.2

Playability:

Below average. At the start it looked like the level had some potentioal, with a switch making a crate fall down, but the rest was just a bunch of lizards, a trigger crate or two and then a dead end. I had no idea where I should go or what I should do, and after trying out stuff for three minutes I typed jjq.

Balance:

Too easy. Floating lizards rock when placed in the right location, but in the way they are put in this level they don’t prove any challenge. There wasn’t any difference between enemies either, only lizards. The few puzzle areas which involved triggers where easy aswell. I couldn’t finish the level though, it seems like this level was uploaded before it was even finished.

Creativity:

Hardly any creativity. The switch + crate thing at the start was not so bad, but the rest was just killing lizards and getting stuck in a dead end. There was no creativity in terms of eyecandy either, only a few blocks have been used to create an environment which looks just dull and uninspired.

Eyecandy:

The whole landscape exists out of blocks. The background is a blue sky texture. That’s the whole thing. Bland and unrealistic.

Fun Factor:

People with a slow internet connection will probably spend more time downloading this than actually playing it. It’s very short, and not really fun due to the bad gameplay. Everything looks quite unfinished.

Overall:

Not worth the download.

EDIT- I will rate less harshly if J2O has a “Beginer’s/Simple Single Player” area. Until then, I must rate as fairly as possible(which means I rate like I normally do).
Avid readers of my reviews(that means -1 people) will recall the messy and sloppy review I did on Badger’s “Redwall Abbey” level. That was a level that showed promise, but was too short and too simple. This level is like the latter, but nothing at all like the former. This level has no potential. For added fun play in 300×200, since it really doesn’t matter.
Gameplay-2/10
Too simple and linear. Some triggers add a point since most levels like this don’t use those.
Layout-1/10
Linear, linear paths, and Lizards and turtles placed in simple places. Horrendus.
Placement-.5/10
Sadly, the enemies have no edge over Jazz/Spaz/Lori. The crates/triggers are in no special area either. There was one instance in which the lizards attacked an unsuspecting player who used a trigger crate which was deviously nice.
Eyecandy-1/10
At least you used a layer 5 background, otherwise What eyecandy?
Story-NA/NA
Erm… Some british alternate universe version of Hocus Pocus is attacked by Lizards and Turtles.
Extra Fun-NA/NA Play as Lori and use her sidekick-ish manuver while holding Shift and the jump button, make sure you hit a lizard. WHOOOOOOOOOSH!
Final score-1.125(or 1.1)
Download reccomendation? No, but the british Terexin/Fooruman is good for a quick laugh at how stupid it seems.
Avid Reader count-Is still at -1.
Better than- a Sad beach
Worse than-Redwall Abbey(which recieved a 2.0 from me.)
The number of extra junk in this review to make it seem longer and better-6

Starting Comments:

We’ll see.

Played with: Lori
On difficulty: Medium
Playing time: 1 minute

Playability:

The level consists of finding some random crates, kill a bunch of ravens and find the exit. It took me 1 minute to complete, which is definately too short. There were no pickups at all.

Score: 1.5

Balance:

Very easy. Finding the crates is not all that hard, and the clumped together ravens can be easily killed. Needs improvement.

Score: 1.5

Creativity:

At least it was not a simple “find the exit” level, but it was just too short to call it creative. Maybe some obstacles which prevent you from getting the crates or something would’ve made this a lot better.

Score: 2.0

Eyecandy:

Sux. Lots of tilebugs, and no proper use of the tileset. There were some ladders which looked not bad though.

Score: 1.5

Fun Factor:

As it’s too short and too easy I did not find this fun to play at all.

Score: 1.5

Overall:

A very short and easy level. The eyecandy sucks, and it is not really worth the download.

Overall Score: 1.5

I’m writinjg to say what a bad pack this is:

Under 10 tile used in all levels

You deleted some of the Hocus Pocus tiles (good ones). Which makes me angrier because not only did you wreck the tileset, you wrecked Violet CLM’s Time Tripping thing. Includes replacing the stars with rivers, so that when you collect a key or anything else, this river in mid-air appears, deleting the switch with the lever in the the middle I was going to use for a custom level, replacing the chain vines with a thing, witch was used in Violet CLMs thing with a orange river thing under a platform, and the wide open mouth of one of the masks is now gone, instead, there is part of the window.

So, so short.

They don’t appear on the HCL. And it gets worse by passwording the levels How I played them?? Deleted the password.

Thats the bad things, now onto the good things:

NO good things

Oh well.

First off this level was a waste on my harddrive ;( Second, like fearofdark said, one tile. No eyecandy what so ever. And I dont liek the idea “host gets all power” although it sounds fun :DDD but you cant even play it online, as Alex stated, it gives amnesia errors. Probably too many trig scenery to handle O.o No rating from me. sorry. If I did give a rating it would be rather low.

I liked it a little bit, but maybe thats because I’m a Redwall fan. I really enjoyed the music, but maybe if th level was longer I might just tear my brains out. Which is another thing: The level is way to short. I was expecting a romp through a large abbey trying to do something or other. The short level we have here as a somewhat good concept (run through the abbey whilst opening up new areas to run about in) but the shortness detracts from any fun we could possibly have.
Well, thats all I have to say. Yep.

Only 1 tile used in the whole thing. Like the idea, but no eyecandy. You chose a good music file (saveing yourself from a 2.7).
