This is a nice tileset, and the battle example was also good. You can see what to do with the tiles in a level. However, it’s a difficult tileset, yes.
you have to practice and then you can make levels with this those are good levels. But it haves ev’rything. Sucker tube eyecandy, tree’s, shootblocks, ground tiles, wall tiles and many more. It’s evening scenery is maked good.
But what do you say, can you make easyer tilesets, easy to use? Like the Coca Cola tileset from the hotel heroes.
DOWNLOAD RECOMMEDATION: yes
USE THIS FOR LEVELS : maybe yes.
RATING FOR DISGUISE : a 7.7

Great tilesets, though they are really hard to use. The eyecandy is really cool and well i think the night version would have been better if the lights were on. The pink one is hilarious!! There is a lot of tiles. There are no masking bugs. Download this!!!!!

Ooh.. I like this version =) I always thought the night version was a bit too dark, but this one is just right. Everything has a sort of orange tint to it, like in the evening version of Swamps. Despite all this, the textured background doesn’t look all that great. It’s decent, though. I like the mask messages, as always.
Download reccomendation.

PHT, check all these things.
1.) Flipped animating tiles.
2.) A textured background with no tiles.
3.) Tile width and/or tile height set on layer 4.
4.) One of the ambient sounds that crashes the game placed (see Stronghold: Jazz for a list; look on the links section. Or you can look for my upload with a list of these).
5.) A song that is either too big in filesize or too long.
6.) An insanely large layer size (like around 1000×1000 or something… really big).
7.) If you freezed a gem ring while testing (probably not it).
8.) If someone hax0red your computer and joined your single player game and lasered your server.

That’s really all I can think of now… check all those and tell me if that helps you out.[This review has been edited by labratkid]

Disguise.
Your Tilesets are full of high detail graphics. But this isn`t really Jazz2 thats better for any newer game, i think. IT`s better you make some more comic nearer and easier to use tilesets.
Won`t you?

YAYAYAYAYAYAY WISET!

Anyway, Bored set is a rather…interesting tileset.

Let’s start off shall we? Look : Well let’s see. Bored set has a lot of diversity with tiles. 3 types of backgrounds, 2 types of normal ground, and transitions through each. All neeede tiles are included, and I must say that the sucker tubes are possibly the best I’ve seen in any tileset for sucker tubes. Mountains are nice, in fact the general look of the tileset is great. However, there foreground eye candy is completly gone! Overall : Diverse ground types, all needed tiles are present. Next to no foreground layer eye candy possible. Ease to use : Very easy to use. I could easily make levels whithout using layers 5/6, but I won’t because it would look stupid. The point is, all tiles have a way to transition from one to the other. Overall : Very very easy to use. Diversity : No tileset is perfect right? I have to say that Bored Set using levels are basically never going to be much different than the example levels. An even mix of Castle areas to Nature areas. Otherwise, the author can mix and match ground types and backgrounds so that one area never looks exactly like another. Overall: Eh…

FINAL RATINGS : Not a bad tileset, but not the greatest tileset out there. It’s actually quite good, and I can expect a mad rush of Bored Set CTF’s to arrive in about 2 weeks. I know I’m using it. 7.7.

All hail the Tea of Wisdom! He is the king of tilesets even when bored! Yaaaay!!!!

But anyway, Boredset is another good tileset by Disguise. It features multiple ground types (natural ground, stone blocks, colorful tiled walls, and mezish red and blue blocks), with transitions between them. It has the normal amount of background eyecandy for a Disguise tileset (layer 8, hills, and some moving clouds, which sadly seem to be edged with blue) the stone and natural ground types are the best- my only complaint is that the stones look strange if their edges are exposed to the sky. The tubes are nice and wooden, more interesting than many tubes. The signs are pretty generic, but still are good (an exit sign, a ‘SSF’ sign, and an ‘iCeD Rules’ sign). The trees are somewhat… small, but still are good eyecandy. Sadly the non-natural grounds lack any good eyecandy. But still, this is a good and versitile set.

A 8.5.

A download recommendation.

BoredSet is quite a small tileset compared to Disguise’s other tilesets, especially compared to his huge Metropolis set.

Still, it is in my opinion one of the best tilesets Disguise has created. The style is different from his other tilesets, which is a breath of fresh air. Not that his other tilesets are not very good, mind you, but it’s still very nice. The big improvement the tileset looks much more organic than some of Disguise’s other sets. This makes levels look much more detailed and..organic.

There are enough tile types and eyecandy tiles to make a nicely detailed level with, and as is most of the time the case with tilesets by Disguise is that there’s enough things to work with in the background. There’s also all the special tiles you’ll need. Destruction blocks (as always with this author not copied from the official tilesets but home-made), vines, poles, signs and hooks – it’s all there. And the layer 8 background is quite pretty.

The example levels, the BoredSetCTFs and Grass Hill Citadel, made by BlurredD, show well how the tileset can be used and also how much you can do with it, since the biggest part of the tileset (the earth tiles) was not used in the BoredSetCTFs, and yet they’re still good, and very different from the battle level Grass Hill Citadel.

A few of the things up for improvement:
The trees don’t look right. The leaves could have been much more convincing, now they look too much like spikes.
If there had been more normal grass tiles (two for example), instead of just one, levels using this set would have looked much better. Still, it’s not that bad, since the grass tiles are very good and using just one grass tile doesn’t make the level look dull, because the tile tiles very well. But some variation would have been great. Even a few tiles that had the same shape but had small vegetation on them would have improved a lot.
Some tile connections lack from the tileset, like a brick-grass connection, and connections between normal grass tiles (without dark background), and dark backgrounds (meaning: only part or half of the grass tile having a dark background, unlike the other part/half.). This means you’ll have to use layer 5 if you want to use connections like the ones mentioned, which very often you will want with the second.
A tile to make rain with could have been usable. I don’t know why it was left out, since it’s in most of Disguise’s other tilesets.

But the tileset is good enough to overcome these flaws. To conclude: This is one of the Wisey’s best tilesets, even if it has a few flaws.

And now we will hope Disguise will make another one. ;-)

(*FQuist runs away, chased by a shouting Disguise*)

Disguise is good at making tilesets. In the Nature’s Ruin’s (I think this is the best one) the eyecandy is good, it’s a useful tileset. There are too many options (like temple, cave, treetops…) the statue of Jazz was very interesting also. So, I liked the set!:)

Yay, an upload by Wisey =))))).

Layout/Gameplay: Not particularly fond of it. One of the major cons is the right side of the level, where a lot of the walls are jagged, and you can get stuck pretty easily, which isn’t a good thing. This coulda been avoided with one ways, warps, or by just avoiding making the walls like that. 146,55, I always bump into the wall there, and have to jump to enter the sucker. Not really major or anything, but floatup would of been nice. Some parts feel a bit bumpy, but other than that its alright.
Layout/Gameplay: 6.8

Eyecandy: Definately a pro, the eyecandy pretty much rocks here. It just gives me a good feeling towards the level (music helps do that too) and makes me enjoy playing it. Nuff said
Eyecandy: 9

Placement of stuff: Seems a bit sparce, and the pattern is too repetitive (placed in rectangular boxes nearly everywhere). Took me longer to find the bouncer powerup than finding the seeker powerup (and I got stuck right after finding the bouncer =( ). Other than that, I question the placement of the powerups, since the seeker is more out in the open then the bouncer, and the seeker is relatively better. The carrot placement is alright. Could’ve been better, though.
Placement of stuff: 6.5

Music definately fits, it adds a nice warm feeling to the level and I just feel like I have to add bonus points for it (+0.1) because it makes the level feel good to play.

Originality: Can’t really judge on that since this is really the first CTF level I’ve seen with this set.

Overall (not an average): A fairly decent level. Has some flaws which bring it down a bit (mostly the layout and the repetitive ammo placement), and some pros which bring it up (eyecandy, rux music choice). I’d probably play this once in a while, but not as often since the layout is not so decent. Still worth a download, though, since I havent seen levels like it.
Overall (not an average): 7.5

Final rating: 7.45 (+0.1) = 7.55, still rounded to a 7.5 though. The level has potential, but suffers from a few flaws which severe the rating. Nonetheless, its still decent and worth a download. GJ Wisey =))).

Time for a review!
First impressions: One of Disguise’s many uploads. It’s been a long time he uploaded some stuff. The last time was when he uploaded MegaM 1.23.

Gameplay: Good. The gameplay seems good. There is a nice spring placement and a very good layout imo. The flow is good, but nothing special. There is placed one way in some places, that’s also nice.

Eye candy: Good/Very Good. This seems to be very nice, but there is some confusing eye candy in some places. The tileset use was excellent I think, and I can say I liked the eye candy a lot.

Placement: Good/Very Good. There isn’t many ammo, but what is there, is well placed. I saw that there are a lot of groups placed that are 3×2 from up to down or 2×3 from left to right or right to left. That looks nice, and is easy to get. There are 2 Power-ups, a seeker and a bouncer PU. That are almost my favourite ones, but that’s just me, so I wont take points of the rating of course. There is a full energy too of course. I dont know if it is exactly in the middle but I think so.

Originality: Good/Very Good. I have to agree, this is a very original level. I almost can’t give a very good for originality, but I can say that this comes close. I never saw this tileset and I like the music too.

Others: Host this: Sure.
Download: Yes.
I think of a 7.5 here.

One of the rare levels Disguise releases.

EYECANDY: 8.4
Probably the best bit of the level. Having an ocean and an island at layer 7 isn’t a commonly used idea and it actually works. The stuff at the cavernside (right) is somewhat confusing. You can get easily confused of what’s the BG and what’s the wall. You still can get used to it tho.

GAMEPLAY: 6.5
This is the level’s FAILURE. You really can’t determine if the building is solid or not. You need to learn and/or remember what are solid. And the getting confused thing pointed out in the eyecandy section. Yeah. It really makes the gameplay worse and almost unplayable. The balance is not even good. The blue base has the confusing building things and red has just a simple way to the base. Not really good.

STUFF PLACEMENT: 6.5 (-1.0)
Seeker powerups are not placed by “accident”. So you TRIED to lower the rating by 1. Also, this powerup placement sux as heck. With addition to the seek powerup itself, the PU is even placed unfairly. Blue has a seek powerup (-1.0) and red has a bouncer powerup. And the seek powerup, the most overpowered one, is better than the bouncie powerup. The balance again. Just say no to balance. There is none at all. I don’t see a point to the barrel at the blue base. I really don’t. It may add to the level’s random luck stuff. “What comes out from there now…”.

ORIGINALITY: 9.3
Haven’t seen this tileset for a while. And never heard the music. And the island at the bg. Just marvelous.

DOWNLOAD?: Maybe.
HOST?: No.

So I’m guessing Mirrow doesn’t mind this tileset being used?

GAMEPLAY:

There isn’t much to the layout: a few rigid pathways from base to base. A lot of the walls on the right side of the level are easy to get stuck in, which could be a big problem. The right portion of this level hurts the flow the most. The left side is alright, in comparison. Both sides could use a few springs, though. On second observation, I found out that I don’t like the layout much at all. The balance seems iffy, so I wouldn’t trust this level for a duel or a 2 on 2 or anything. But at least it’s cool to look at.

EYE CANDY:

The atmosphere is really nice (the music helps), but I guess that’s just part of my first impression of seeing this tileset in an actual level. There’s pretty much no standard set (from what I’ve seen), but the tileset was used well.

CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:

The placement of the full energy carrot is so-so, but I don’t know about that tube to the right of it. In regards to powerup placement, a seeker powerup on the left and a bouncer powerup on the right? Rather questionable. Ammo placement could be a lot better, but I can almost live with it.

HOST THIS OFTEN?

Probably once just to marvel at the tileset. Otherwise, nah. This is about a 7. On a side note, make sure to get mirrow to make MORE TILESETS.
