And he made an error :) The palette edited version of Carrotus, which is called Thermal K1, is included in the zip. Only the music for the last 2 levels (song2.s3m) was missing. Aiko, if you don’t know the name of something, ask me :P
OK, now that i’m here i might as well review it anyway.
Good levels, a tad linear. Too many enemies? Not for me at least. :)
-JelZe GoldRabbit
A very nice Single Player IMHO. As expected it uses the (fixed, wow) Bloxonius set and music. I got nothing to complain about here.
- JelZe GoldRabbit
P.S. BlackDeath, you find the Bolly boss (the one at Medivo) at the end, not Bilsy (the slim devil). Altough Bilsy would fit better here…
This is a very cool set. It contains differnt worlds of the Lost Vikings game (Ship, Egypt and Forest i believe). It also has the main characters (sometimes not a good idea, but i’ll remain neutral :)) and even Tamator (i believe that’s his name). Putting in the enemies of the game was a nice idea. One minor setback was the bad masking at some points (background walls being masked…yuch). The demo level show you well gow to use the set. Too bad the author forgot to uncheck the “Hide in Home Cooked levels list” box (ALWAYS uncheck with single levels).
Conclusion: This is an excellent set if you want to make a level with variaty. A 7.5 it it. OK Aiko, your turn :p
- JelZe GoldRabbit
This isn’t looking good…
OK, i’ll be short about it, this level isnt that great. All it has is only a couple of enemies, it is short and liniar, has a wrong next level setting, music is missing (i could go on forever like this)…
And the MP counter part? Not a good idea.
Conclusion: Iceman aka EvilTomato told me it was more of a beta. And believe me, it needs work. And lots of it! Sorry, can’t give you higher than a 4…

Medivo is 2nd in my list _
Geez, i don’t know where to start! This level has almost everything what good level needs: varied ammo, good eye candy and the like. There’s just one minor set-back: the custom music (must be me) doesn’t play for me! Besides this, a download recommendation.

I just CAN’T resist a Tubelectric level! :)
Well, Magoo did a pretty good job with this one. There’s nothing special to report (everything has already been said)…
-JelZe GoldRabbit
I could NEVER pass up a Tubelectric level ;)
Now that’s the best level i’ve seen in quite a while. I dunno what to say…Check it out for yourself.
Hah, i get to review first :p
I’ll only rate SP, tilesets and lvls from new artists from now on, and i won’t be on the net, but i’m willing to make exceptions (especially with tubelectric, MAN i love that set!)
Ahem…OK, since this is your 2nd level, Assassin, i’ll be gentle. This list will say enough :)
Strong points:
- It’s circular (i love circular levels, don’t you?)
Minor points:
- It’s TSF, not everyone has it.
- Almost no eye candy
- Layer 3 covers not enough (remember, also cover the edges!)
- Music (metal.mod) doesn’t fit (that music is included with TSF, thank God)
- The tunnel with the floor and ceiling springs is too smal, the level however is big enough for my likes…
- The weapons are all in the same place.
- Some tiles aren’t used properly
Conclusion: Not a download recommendation, but since it’s a newbie level, i’m willing to drop minor point 1 to 4. It’s become a 5.5

OK, the critic has arrived! :P
OK, it’s a very conversion of the Technoir set (one of my favs in JJ2), altough some tiles are missing, others are made the wrong way, bla bla bla…But it’s good enough to make a decent level with it. :) I didn’t rate the example, because the version of WinZip that i have cuts names short. You can guess the result ;)
Conclusion: Good JJ1 tilesets are rare, especially of the first…18 planets. :) Worth a 7 at first, boosted to 7.2
- JelZe GoldRabbit
Finally! Now i can die happy!
Ahem…Now, about the set. It’s done quite well, you can the great majority of the JJ1 Tubelectric tiles. But a few things bugged me: not all animations are in the set (you can make the stencil bigger, NewSpaz), and that made Tubelectric Tubelectric. Anyhow, there are still enough tiles for you to use.
The example level (a VERY smal CTF) shows you enough ways to use the set.
Conclusion: Could have been a bit better, but it’s still good enough for me :)

Why do i always get to review first?
WOW! Talk about original (don’t tell me it isn’t, never seen this idea before)! This level combines the concept of Treasure Hunt with Race, and the author did it quite well. You have to collect a number of coins in order to go to the next round. The obstacles are quite creative, but now i’ve said enough.
Conclusion: A definite 7 ;)
- JelZe GoldRabbit
You oughta know Nitro did most of the work. I only only did a smal part of the level, the eye candy and the bg…
Ok, my turn ;)
GC Desert 2 is a … fairly good level. Lay-out is OK (no dead ends in battles, plz), weapon placement also (could have been a bit more). But what i didn’t like was that GC used the ORIGINAL Desert tileset. I play in 8-bit, so the 3D bg is…you know. Speaking of background, i HATE it when ppl use the other layers to boost the eye candy in layer 4. Music choice: average (Medivo2), you could easily use a custom file for this.
Conclusion: not bad. That’s all i can say.
-JelZe GoldRabbit
Good, still have time for this one…
OK, i’ll be gentle about this…Here’s a race level with a bit of a twist: it has a different course for each round. Quite original, but that’s the only good thing about this level. The eye candy and background need serious improving.
Conclusion: Need i say more? A 5. It got boosted to a 5.5 for using that “different couse for each round idea”.
- JelZe GoldRabbit
Aiko, if you’re saying that “keentube” won’t appear in my list because i have more than 256 levels, then you’re mistaking bigtime.
O well, i finally got that level to work, now for the review…
I must say i was pretty surprised when i first saw the level. Pretty good eye candy, but especially amazing was the hunt for trigger crates. The lay-out is indeed a bit confusing (circluar) if you don’t know where to go next. The music? Good choice.
Conclusion: A really good puzzle level, BirdOfPrey. The original rating: a 7. But since you’ve used Tubelectric (my fav. set) and put puzzles in it, it’s boosted to a 7.5
-JelZe GoldRabbit
It was German, you guys. You should know i’m able to read Dutch, English, German and French…
My TSF doesn’t seem to locate it…Did you uncheck the “Hide in Home Cooked Levels list” box, BoP?
Well, i don’t how to start but…
OK, what we have here is a level with enemies. And LOTS of’em. That what’s makes the level a bit challenging, but that’s basicly it. And the eye candy…mwah, average. And Leibi, if you read this, then put ALL of the texts in English next time. The most of us don’t know German…
Conclusion: I was gonna give it a 6, but since he’s a beginner (in my opinion) and he used my favourite set (Tube Electric) it’s boosted to a 6,5.
- JelZe GoldRabbit
Aiko, it becomes clear we have different tastes ;)
Well, the level is pretty average in my opinion, although the vines are quite challenging. Ammo? Nothing but toasters. I still lonve the trigger crates, i dunno why. All in all a high 6.7
- JelZe GoldRabbit
Al right guys, i got the set, i’ll rate these lvls…
Hmmmmmmmm…..I must say they’re not pretty good, and i hope that Warm-up.j2l wasn’t meant for net play. NEVER put a "-" in a name of level for net play. Ahem, now about the levels themselves…Not much ammo, and the levels are a bit on the smal side. I’ve said enough. A very low 5.
- JelZe GoldRabbit.
P.S. You can get the "newest" tileset from Jazz 2 City ;)
