Sometimes levels actually deserve a review. And sometimes I’m too lazy to do them. I think that this is one of them that deserve a review. The other ratings are FAR too high in my opinion. After playing here a few times and testing flow on a super fun server.. I feel that..
Eyecandy :
Rating : 8.5
Comments :
Eyecandy and atmosphere is really all you concentrated on, as in the environment looks nice, bland in some areas, and a bit bugged in a few other areas. I think the environment looks really good and deserves a few ups. But also, it has a few unrealistic effects.. Like mini battleships right next to it moving at the exact same speed. Anyway.. Try and make it less bugged and focus more on other parts.
Gameplay :
Rating : 6.7
The general fun-factor is pretty nice and high. You always love gliding off battleships into the air or going on an airboard about to explore the outside. A few passages that I kept finding around everywhere. The flow isn’t so good. As you can run into dead-ends quite a bit like THAT. Some tubes are annoying to get into and some actually are SO useful. ;)
Layout :
Rating : 5.5
Sorry, but the layout was awful. It had a few nice parts, but SO many dead ends. I liked the drop part and also the airboard area, its nice and fun to fly about in. But also you need to concentrate on making dead-ends a bit more easy to evade or non existent or even pointful. It has a few nice parts like nailing players in the corner, but its annoying being that player being nailed in a deadend. Anyway not such a good layout.
Placement :
Rating : 6.7
Comments :
Yeah, as I heard before this level would benefit from better ammo placement. When placing ammo, putting it in nice shapes is a wise choice and also, putting PUs in nice places are needed too. There are a few pointless springs about. I think the level is good otherwise.
Overall :
Rating : 6.7
Final Comments :
Well, great job.. Try to focus more on layout and flow, and your levels will rock. Keep trying.

This is my favourite battle level that anyone (but me :P) has created.
Its layout it very impressive, it looks like a cool ship from the outside and the background makes it look likes it moving!
The eyecandy i cannot fault in any real way. Its totally amazing. You must have put a lot of work into this level.
Gameplay is great. However, for me its not something that could be like an official duel level or w/e.
Nice level.
(Just for what it’s worth, you seem to be describing the graphics in both Layout and Eyecandy. Layout usually deals more with the level’s mask. ~Violet)
Hey! Awsome level, XLM is getting active again :)
Eyecandy
Awsome, wicked! ts perfect. I like the idea’s in the ship effects with the ammo around and on it.
Gameplay
Wicked flow. I like it. Its not spaz or special jazz based. Also i like idea of the airboard going outside in space and play football.
Ammo
Nice placed, found the bouncher power-up. The rest is fine. Could be fun in instagib mode to the 60 :D
Overall :: 9.0
Download this :D
I am pretty fond of diamondus levels (especially JJ1) so I was lookinf forward to playing this level.
EYECANDY: 16/20
Its like normal JJ2 diamondus eyecandy only better. I like the foreground waterfalls placed at certain points around the level. Overall, great eyecandy.
GAMEPLAY: 17/20
Hmmmmmm…..The level may seem achingly beautiful, but the gameplay is not as good as the eyecandy. A few springs but the event ‘float up’ is used at the bottom which brings things up.
EDIT: +3 marks for use of ‘One way’ event.
ITEMS: 16/20
The items seem to be placed properly around the level but you could use more ammo.
SIZE: 18/20
The level is somewhere between medium and large sized. Either way, there are alot of spaces to move into.
OBSTACLES: 16/20
Use of one way event kind of provides an obsticle. So does the ‘float ups’ at the bottom.
BONUSSES AND SUBTRACTIONS:
Music:
Suits level +3pts
Different style +1pt
Beautiful eyecandy +4 pts
Total: +8pts
TOTAL SCORE: 81/100
RATING: 8
FINAL COMMENT: The music is different. The only other music file which comes close to being like that is probaly ds_ga.xm (Gaia’s awakening). Overall, 8 is quite rarely seen nowadays so please download this.
EYECANDY
Very nice eye-candy, the tileset is pretty cool and the way the tileset has been used is also cool.
GAMEPLAY
The structure of the level is what i’m most miffed about, I have seen so many levels that look like that its unbelievable. You may want to consider re-submitting this level as a CTF instead, this is not a taditional battle level – its not a battle level i would particulary enjoy playing on – tho its still a good level, I just disagree with the style.
MUSIC
Well chosen, ive not heard this before and it suits the levels kind of mood – old worn-out looking, erm i dunno.
Its an eye-appealing level and the items placed on the level are not in bad postions at all, but to be honest its really platformy and to me all these battles with many type “islands” all look the same to me
I would still recommend downloading this level, there has clearly been a lot of time spent on it.
Well, I betatested this lvl ages ago, then, yesterday, told myself to review it and reminded myself that you should never postpone until tomorrow what you should’v done today…and then I postponed it till tomorrow. :-( Well, after a loooong time, here is my review:
Cake Cream Snowland (CCS) is a small 71×64 battle lvl. It has 2 carrots and every single power-up that does 2-heart damage, except the blaster PU (that’s 4 power-ups in total). Now that I think about it, 3 carrots would be better than 2, considering the amount of fire-power in the lvl and it’s a pretty small lvl too, so you won’t stay full-health for long. Betatesters screwed up. Again…
The background eyecandy is reasonably nice. The little cake-platforms look nice, although I would’ve appreciated it if they stayed with you at the top of the lvl (make them hiiigher!). The foreground eyecandy is a bit empty and it seems as if the tileset just doesn’t allow Pan Galactic Garble Blaster-type eyecandy. ;-) I still think Arti should’ve taken the opportunity to at least make some foreground platforms inside the many large, thick walls of the lvl, which shouldn’t get in the way of anyone’s sight and still look good.
Weapons placement is ok, except that there are not enough fastfires (you’ll never stay alive long enough to get your private minigun :-p) and there are too many power-ups. It would be nice if you could just force players to stomp a power-up or to shoot it with electroblasters, so ppl will actually take the normal 3x ammo and bouncers from the gun barrel.
Gameplay is where it’s at! :-O CCS has much better gameplay than it has eyecandy or weapons placement. The pole kinda slows you down and there’s a lot of open space for ppl to not be able to dodge bouncer, seeker and RF barrages although I guess public server battle freaks will like the carnage and the multi-kills possible in this lvl. Springs and platforms are sensibly placed, except the kind of floating white stairway in the middle, which is Spaz biased and really forces Jazz to either slow down with superjump…or slow down with jumping from one platform to the next. Spaz can just swoop by with one or two doublejumps. Also, the platform at pos 17, 3 is 1 tile too high. You can still run over it, but if you haven’t got enough speed, you’ll just fall down whether you like it or not (UNLESS YOU’RE SPAZ! :-P).
Frankly, I don’t know why the heck I didn’t mention all the above things when I betatested but this lvl is mostly flawless, but its layout fails to give players anything more to do than to launch mini-ICBM attacks on their opponents from afar. Ok, there’s toaster walls, bouncers from above and suckertubes in the mix. It’s an ok lvl, nothing remarkable, but still better than hanging in front of the TV, duelling battle 1 or writing reviews like this.
CCS deserves a 6.7. This lvl is a judgement call but I hope my review will convince you to DL and try the lvl out.
