As you may see, this aren’t a perfect conversion.
Like on the mountains, the black isen’t the same, which looks very odd.
CelL didn’t add extra stuff from jj2 like poles, sucker tubes, descrout blocks ect.
Also, a good conversion has an usual texture background, here the normal red background dosen’t even work in texture.
This was a bit disappointing.
You should download it if its needed.

I’ve always thought that the old Stonar conversion needed an update, so I’m glad to see CelL has decided to take on the task. While the original tileset conversion was fairly true to Jazz 1: Stonar, the colors were a bit washed out and some tiles didn’t look right. It seems these problems have been fixed almost completely in the new version. And Kudos to CelL on the pallete. All in all, this is a good update to an already good conversion. I’m not going to rate it because it’s basically just an update of the original, but it’s still definitely worth a downloader…err download.[This review has been edited by Trafton AT]

Beach levels have never been my favorite, but I quickly considered changing my opinion – heck, even my worldview – after seeing this level. It’s a “spacious” level featuring a beach theme, of course. Flow is very nice, but I still have one gripe: ammunition placement. It’s scattered well throughout the level, but during test play I often had situations where there was severe ammo drain. While this happens during normal play, it happened to quickly that my team was at a huge disadvantage for the rest of the game. This isn’t a major gripe, but it is enough to drag down the score a little bit.

Ammo error or no ammo error, this is an excellent level that is very much worth a download. However, if you rely on a continuous supply of ammo, you may be surprised at how quickly the proverbial well dries up.

“Wow. Another Jazz 1 pack. Let’s add it to the pile.”

Actually, though I was initially wary (I have been disappointed by conversions in the past) this turned out to be a very spiffy set of sets indeed. These tilesets are nearly flawless conversions of many of the JJ1 worlds all stuffed into a medium-size download. I can only hope more conversions of this quality continue to be produced, but I still would sell my llama Charley if I could just get a good conversion of the final episode all together. That would be spiffular indeed.

CelL has always been a master CTF level factory, but I would like to see him slow down and make some really amazing levels.

Still, this is a good level. It has some annoying parts that are due to low amounts of playtesting, but it’s still quite good. Download recommendation.

An interesting level pack of varying quality. CelL, while you’re levels are still far above average, you are producing them at such a rate that not all of them are the original quality. Slow down a bit, bud, you don’t have to be a level factory. ;-P

“Galactic Hollow” is another very well designed CTF map from Mr. Cell’s level factory. It uses our beloved Mez03a tileset and is only 80*60 tiles small, but that’s a good idea in times like these i guess (not too many people playing online anymore).

The layout of the level, as i said, is very good, open and easy to play. Ammo and event placement is good, too. The bases are pretty close to each other, but i don’t think that will spoil the fun. Sometimes you need an easy CTF map with a lot of shooting and scoring in my opinion. CTF experts may complain about that.

The eyecandy is neat as well, not too much of it, but well done by Cell.

For the background music, the author chose a FT tune called “galactic” by darkhalo, which most of you probably remember from HappyCTF. Well, i love it and therefore, i won’t complain about the horrible filesize of 1678 KB this time. It’s worth every byte, really.

Well, i really don’t have much too add here. Just a very good level. DOWNLOAD NOW!

Cell, as a betatester, you should’ve told me! Look how late I am because of this! :-P

Oh well, nm.

Alrighty then…

Galactic Hollow is a not so hollow lvl made with a Mez tileset, or rather Mez03a tileset (yeah, the name is really crap).

There’s nothing great about the eyecandy but I like the way the big, blue, round..er…things are placed (they’re transparent, of course, or else I would’ve taken 2 points off the rating ;-P) in the foreground. They look really cool, especially when you run around real fast. However, you need some time to adjust to it.

Gameplay is good. Real good. Nothing special though. Nice placement of springs. Not too many secrets. Good suckertube positions. The thing I like most, though are the one ways. Just when you hit a spring at fly towards the ceiling at 5000mph, you find that the tiles have one ways on them. Mmm… one ways. A big, fat +1 for that. ;-)

Anyway, an 8.

runs away

Cheers,

White Rabbit.

Jungrock actually isn’t one of my favourite JJ1 planets, the levels were totally simple, enemies too, music boring, and boss… you don’t even have to fight with him! (especially when you have Launcher)

Enigma, don’t blame the great Letni. It wasn’t really so ugly, and these black ‘n white making tiles (wish we could make something like this in JJ2…) were cool.
