Hmmm… wasn’t there already an oddysey tileset? I’m very certain there was, but this looks a lot different.

Anyway, very cool eyecandy and coloring. Download reccomended.

THEME: The theme is, presumably, a big space station with an evil computer which will not open the pod bay doors. Except there is no evil computer. Or a monolith. Or, for that matter, much of anything to make it feel like a space station. Yes, there’s a big (and incredibly grainy) view of Earth in the background. Yes, there are stars. But it doesn’t feel too much like a space station, and I’m not sure if it feels like anything, to tell the truth. It’s not quite a factory, a spaceship, a space station, or anything else. There is such a distinct variety of tiles it’s very hard to pin this tileset down. And I completely give up rating this area.
Pros: N/A
Cons: N/A
Rating: N/A

GRAPHICS: Here’s a hint for you: Play the included CTF level. The tileset will end up looking horrible if you only play BlurredD’s example level. But Stripe’s CTF thingy shows that the tileset actually Can look good, if you put a little time into it. That said, the graphics vary, as does most everything here. The plug and the textured background do not look paticularly good. The fans, in contrast, are simply incredible. The blocks and the light blue 3Dish platforms look good. The diagonal pipe does not. The brown stuff looks good. The 2-tile sloped blocks don’t. For the most part the graphics for this tileset are quite good, but there are several blemishes which bring down the overall quality a bit. I maintain the fans are incredible.
Pros: Most things look good, the fans are great.
Cons: Some things show little or no work spent on them, no shading for the 3Dish blue platform hole.
Rating: 8.5

INVENTORY: */!/[]/=/ blocks, hooks, sucker tubes, fans, spikes, vines, maybe belts.
Pros: Most everything necessary is here.
Cons: A few blocks missing, the spikes are boring.
Rating: 8.2

ORIGINALITY: Hmmmm. Hard to say. Some parts of this tileset are certainly original (like some of the moving stuff, the background, and the manhole like thing), and some are just very boring and seen-it-all-before-and-done-better,-too. However, the tileset is prey to a very large deal of possible original tileset use, so it gets a fairly high rating here. The possibilities factor is high, but what would you expect from BlurredD?
Pros: Lots of possibilities.
Cons: Some things are rather boring.
Rating: 9.2

COMPETITION: Well, the main competition is the earlier version (without a number) of this tileset, which had some tiles I’ll admit would have been nice if included. After that, the vast collection of space tilesets is open for inspection. This tileset is probably better then most of them, but I have to say there are also several tilesets I like more (this MAY change if I see more levels made with the tileset, maybe not), so I forgot the point I was planning to make.
(No pros given)
(No cons given)
(No rating given)

EASE OF USE: The author brags, as do several people, that the tileset is hard to use. I’ve been looking at it for a little while, and it seems all mostly straight foward, aside from the fact that way too many tiles need to be flipped. Most things are where you’d expect them to be, with a few exceptions, and while the various Inventory tiles are scattered randomly throughout the tileset, it could be worse. I do not plan to try, however, as to be honest, I can’t say I like it too much.
Pros: Many things fit together sensibly.
Cons: Some things do not, and some notable parts of the tileset are missing from the example levels.
Rating: 8.0

MASKING: Everything seems to be masked well that I’m seeing. A few too many little sloped corners for my tastes, but I suppose that can’t be helped too much.
Pros: Masking good.
Cons: Not too much work required to get it to be good.
Rating: 8.7

OVERALL: The author (BlurredD) has included four versions of the tileset, and most of the review applies to all four, but I thought I’d talk about them anyway. There’s the normal version (1), a Pink/Brown shade (2), a Green version (3), and a bad looking night area (4). They are all, in essence, the same tileset, though I think the pink/brown is probably the best. Overall, this is a good (but overrated) space (I think) tileset, with good quality but lacking an overall feel. I think I’ll go review something that doesn’t try so hard to be better then it is now.
Pros: Most things are pretty good.
Cons: Flaws here and there.

And at last. BlurredD’s Oddysey. Coming in 4 different versions, and with 5 example levels. w00h00.

The theme of this tileset is probably a space station, since there is a pic of the earth for the background and it looks quite… metallic or something. No grass-tiles in this set. There are a lot of eyecandy tiles though; animated lights, fans, electric cords like in tubelectric, animated platforms, animated pipes, and a big bunch of other animations too. They all look awesome and are very useful. For layer 6/7 there is some 3D-ish texture with a window and it also looks good. In fact, everything looks good.
Negative stuff? Yes. It would have been nice if there were some more blocks in the set. Now there are only 4 blocks, if I’m not wrong: a “locked” block, a blank block, a buttstomp block and a destruct block. Counter-blocks are maybe not used very often, but they should be in every tileset in my very humble opinion. Another bad thing is the userfriendlyness (or something). Or better, the lack of it. It is not always clear what the tiles can be used for. For example, I have no idea how to use the tiles in the upper left corner.

Apart from that it is very good. I suppose you already downloaded it.[This review has been edited by Fl@$h aka BlewMeUp]

BlurredD’s Odyssey is one of the best tilesets ever imo. Throught it’s abit flat, it’s quality and possibilitys are great.
The set isn’t very userfriendly, you should take a close look before starting up with it.

Yet another nice conversion by BlurredD, and not a jj1 conversion either. I think the palette edit was quite good.

Probably the new, most memorable aspect is the water falls; when you think of Psych you probably don’t think of water falls, but they fit in nicely.

BlurredD made a CTF level with this tileset that I saw long ago, I’m surprised he didn’t release it along with this conversion, since it shows just how well you can use this set.

The biggest down fall of this conversion is what it was converted from: Levels made with Psych will probably look very similar to one another, like Carrottus and Diamondus levels (You’re welcome to prove me wrong IF you can make a level that looks totally different from what the tileset is mainly designed for).

The most use out of this is the fixed spikes. I’d say this is a VERY important factor and one of the main reasons you should download.

…And I can’t think of anything else important to describe about this set, just download and use it if you will.

The conversion of Psych is, like the other BluredD-JJ2-edits, very nice.
The extra things are the nice remake of the spikes, wich is a total level maked for it, the waterfall, wich is a very nice addition for background.
Other things are the rain, wich can be used in big ans little drops.
Anyway, the tileset Psych-remake is a very amazing idea and this tileset will be used much times. The problem is, it’s totally different themed, wich is normally okay, but it does like Trafton said not as Psych anymore. The coleed world is a bit falled in a old black-white stone area.
I like this set anyway, and it’s very userfriendly so I’ll give a eight point two and download reccomendation.

Let me just first say that this one I liked more than your castle one. Though I sometimes despise the set psych, I really like this version. My first impression was wow. I had never really expected it to be this good. Firstly, the backround has a nifty color to it, the blue is amazing. The backround mountains look cool too, I especially liked the ones with the musical instruments. next, the color of those rocks is an amazing idea. I espicially like that you’ve added in the unmasked rocks to make some scenery look cavish. The rock color i loved. The colors of varius things such as the magical hat or the guitar or mushrooms was also done quite well, really nice to look at. The spikes are made well, I couldnt get stuck in them, though I tried many times to. Also, it seems that BlurredD has added in some extra tiles. Not to much, but the tiles he added in are really useful and boosted the mark up by some. There is some small rain. Though I dont like how it’s drawn, it still is a good addition. There is the beautiful looking waterfalls which I really like, they’re definately a good addition and make the set more interesting. Also some unmasked rock scenery to make caves and stuff, which also makes the set more interesting and less “one themed”. The palette is quite good. The reason I didnt give this like a 9 or something is mainly because, it just doesnt feel like psych anymore. Sure, the colors are great and everything, if this tileset was the first of its kind, I would rate much higher. When I played it I felt like I was in a completely different place, not psych, but a mountanous region. Though this doesnt stop people from using this set, I still lowered the mark by a bit for it, because it feels like a completely different set, not a remake of psych. But like Trafton mentioned in his review, I completely admired the idea of a stormy psych =)

The vedict: This is a great set, with no real cons that interfere with levelmaking. The idea is great, and I do like this more than the original psych. Not only that but there are extra very useful tiles to make the set more interesting and different themed. The infamous spike bug is fixed here, so you wont have to type in jjk and loose lifes every time you get stuck in a level with this set. Anyways, its really great and all, but not too original. A definite download reccomendation from me.

Ah, it looks like another default tileset redoing (if you will) by BlurredD. My hands are tired from reviewing Spaztic’s megalong megaspiffular SXR pack from yesteryear, so I will make this unusually to-the-point and, most of all, short. Yay.

THEME: The theme seems to be Psych in a storm. I suppose I am a little surprised since I never knew what Psych would exactly look like during a storm, but it looks pretty cool. I prefer the night version because for some reason it appears a little less dreary. Very well done, but I’m not sure how to rate the theme exactly.
Pros: N/A.
Cons: N/A.
Rating: N/A

GRAPHICS: This is, after all, a redoing of an original tileset. Still, the graphics look very nice. Well done, and the added tiles look quite nice.
Pros: Well done graphics.
Cons: It’s a remake, so it is not technically entirely original.
Rating: 8.0

INVENTORY: Everything from the original Psych, of course, is here, and a few added tiles such as rain are also included. I didn’t really think anything more that is not included in this version needed to be added, so I am perfectly content with this.
Pros: Everything needed is here.
Cons: Nothing to note.
Rating: 8.5

ORIGINALITY: It’s a remake, so there is not that much originality. I suppose the idea behind making a stormy Psych is new, and I haven’t seen many Psych remakes, so this is alright in orginality. Again, however, it is not technically orginally BlurredD’s.
Pros: It is original for the type of tileset it is.
Cons: It’s not that original.
Rating: 7.0

COMPETITION: Competition would be the default Psych tilests, I guess. And since this is simply an adding onto them, the competition is pretty much non-existant.
(No pros given)
(No cons given)
(No rating given)

EASE OF USE: Psych has never been a very easy to use tileset, and this does not do anything more to make it easier to use. But that just is not the point of the tileset. The point is that it is a very cool tileset.
Pros: Good.
Cons: Few.
Rating: 7.2

MASKING: Masking is more or less the same as it was in the original Psych. The added tiles have good masks. The spikes still have slight problems.
Pros: Good masking.
Cons: Spikes are not totally fixed.
Rating: 7.7

OVERALL (not an average): This is a good remake of Psych, I suppose. I’ll be brief, and say my final rating is 8.0. Well done.
Pros: Well done remake.
Cons: Not much original material.

Hmmm…some battle levels by BlurredD. Here goes my long reivew:

SC60feet:
The level name is 60 000 feet under, and im sure once you play it you can tell why.
Gameplay: A bit bumpy, and some springs in certain areas would be nice. Apart from that its tolerable.
Eyecandy: WOOT, i love it. SO creative, it certainly looks like its 60 000 feet under, great work BlurredD.
Placement: Tolerable, dont have much more to say.
Layout: A bit hard to navigate but tolerable.
Tile use: Great work here, very creative and imaginative.
Pickups: A bit sparce for some people, but they are done well.
OVERALL: Great and fun level, with some downfalls, but still fun.
SCdruins:
A.K.A dungeon ruins, uses BlurredD’s own tileset, Castle2. My first comment is on the lightning, even though I despise it, it was made well here and isnt very annoying.
Gameplay: Quite good, not very special or unique, but it lies above average.
Eyecandy: Its basic and good
Tile Placement: Well duh, its his own set, the placement is good.
Pickups: They’re good.
Layout: Yeah, no problems here.
Overall: A fun level to play and adds to the score im giving this pack.

SCecircuit(or something like that):
E-line circuit is its name, and I liked the music choice here, as I did in all of them so far.
Gameplay: Could of added some float ups for easier gameplay, but most people will think of it as average or above.
Eyecandy: The creativity strikes again, the backround looks cool, and good use of the tiles.
Tile placement: Great
Layout: Its ok.
Pickups: Fine…
Overall: A fun level to play, with great music and cool eyecandy.
SCForsaken: Forsaken is its name, and it takes place in an ancient egypt tomb.It also takes place outside a bit, where blurredD added a trig crate to open a wall (great animatiob+trigger use btw)
Gameplay: Except for that dead end withthe toaster powerup (it is a dead end depending on which way you come from) its fine.
Eyecandy: This shocked me, the eyecandy was near perfect. Great eyecandy, i didnt find any bugs, and great tile use.
Tile Use: Amazing what a person can make out of a top quality but hard to use set.
Layout: What I said in gameplay. Its good.
Pickups: A bit to much squares, but its ok.
OVERALL: Another fun level in the pack.
SCgfeed:
Galactic feed, it makes interesting use of the tileset.
Gameplay: A bit confusing at first, but when you get used to it its cool.
Eyecandy: Ingenious, those flashing yellow bricks, and all that eyecandy, another well eyecandied level.
Pickups: Could use a touch of creativity. Other than that its suitable.
Tileuse:Very well done.
Layout: The warps may confuse you, and the size may make it hard to navigate, but its ok.

OVERALL ABOUT PACK: A great and creative pack, some very cool idea’s here, and interesting levels worth that space on your hardrive, it definately deserves a download reccomendation. THe levels are fun and detailed and these levels are definately more than just “alright”.
Pros: Lots of detail, great eyecandy, very creative, great levels.
Cons: Ammo could be better, layout sometimes needs work, but these are minor.
These levels rock and should certainly be downloaded by everyone.

-That was my original review. I thought’d I just redownload this, after all this time, and rate it once again since my old review SUCKED. Here goes:

Before rating information: Apparently this pack was created in 2001, long time ago. Let’s see how good stuff could’ove gotten back then. And the Zip file has a comment, how rux. Also, I’m testing these online now.

LGABYSS (The Abyss): Uses the egyptian night set. Good tileset choice. At first I thought the level was OK, but then it grew on me. Some thing that was annoying for me was that it was hard to get up, it took some time to land on the springs and sometimes even some more times to get them to bounce you up to the right place. I quite disliked bumpyness of the level, and I can’t imagine playing as jazz here. Other than that, there is a fair amount of gems, and I like the part where “Treasure comes to those who wait”. Another thing that sort of ticked me off were the hurt events. Only the host can die from them, which coincidentally happend to me, which made me lose my 150 gems and die. I had to cycle the level with PC4 then. Overall, it was a level which the eyecandy looked rux, but I didn’t really like the layout too much, nor the hurt events.

LGPBLACK (Pitch Black): Hmm..a pitch black caslte level. The level is basically a maze of rooms and suckers, and the lighting is what the level name implies, pitch black. I found the level quite original and interesting, I like how the suckers jut you in the rooms and how those ceiling springs bash you on a gemstomp or super gem. The only thing I disliked was that I couldn’t find the exit room, until I actually looked in JCS. Then I still couldn’t find the exit room, nor the room that has the exit sign pointing towards the exit room. THEN I finally found it. Maybe with more people this kinda thing wouldn’t happen, but for me it was sort of annoying, but I’m not an expert on navigating mazes. The level was original, interesting, but didn’t really stick out that much. Music was ok.

LGEHOURS (End Of Hours): At first glance, I didn’t really like how the walls were made, the same one or two tiles kept repeating themselves and it was kinda boring. The interior of the walls being black was original though, I liked it. The layer 5 was also nicely done. I didn’t like the backround too much, but it didn’t show that often. Again there’s a trigger crate in the level, this time I have no idea what it does. The gems were placed well in the level, and the music ruxed. Not much else to say.

LGAWAKE (Dark Awakening): Ah, I remember reviewing this, the level without a bg, fun. This time, though, I’m actually playing this online, so the trace bug is nonexistant. The level looks ok, the eyecandy isn’t the best, but this was made a while ago so it mighta been considered excellent back then. The BG looks nice, like a night sky, with lightning, which also looks spiffy. I’m not too fond of the layout, but the level overall is well done.

LGHSEEK (Hide And Heat Seek): A Labrat level, argh overused tileset. The layout here is original, I especially love how the text sign was made (the text sign being in a foreground layer that has a different X-speed than the sprite layer. The level had a lot of belts, but they ruxed and shouldn’t get in the way. The layout, though linear, rocked. It didnt make me feel like I was playing in another labrat level, and thats good. A thing I didn’t like was in the bonus warp, I landed in an area with seekers (Hide and Heat Seek, makes sense), but then I sidekicked the crates and fell into a warp I had no idea was there, thus wasting 10 valuable coins for nothing. If there was something that would point out the existance of the warp, I wouldn’t have done that, but there wasnt. I also found a mini bug, which I’m not sure if the level or jj2 was at fault, where I jumped on a belt, but it had no effect on me (I just stood there). I rejumped on the belt and it worked again. Also, I like the different Sector things in the bonus warp, reduces camping. The layout of the level was imo a bit too crowded, I frequently bumped into stuff, this also made the seeker less useful (which is good in treasure) so I dont mind.

OVERALL: Its pretty good for a treasure pack, even now. It has a lot of originality, and there will surely be something of interest to you in at least one of the levels.

LGABYSS (The Abyss): 8.1
LGPBLACK (Pitch Black): 8.2
LGEHOURS (End Of Hours): 8.2
LGAWAKE (Dark Awakening): 8.3
LGHSEEK (Hide And Heat Seek): 8.6
OVERALL: 8.2
Final Rating: 8.2666666, rounded to an 8.2

Final Comments: Apologies for the previous review, where as I underrated this. This is a nicely done Treasure pack, even now its still pretty good. I disliked some things in it, which brought down the rating. The average of this should of been around 8 or so, but I was nice and boosted up the rating of some levels by up to +.3 points. Anyways, Good Job and a Download Reccomendation, since you don’t see Treasure Packs often, and good treasure packs even rarer.

I forgot to mention this in the description: I know they they are Ground Force levels (I forgot to credit ET for the concept, too). “Survivor” was originally suppose to be the name of the pack of Ground Force levels I made. But eventually, everyone started to call the concept Survivor and making “Survivor levels”. (I can’t help it if “Survivor” is more catchy than “Ground Force”). So technically, Survivor is the 20 Ground Force levels I made, not the name of ET’s concept.

Anyway, for those who deemed some of my levels as “unoriginal”, I couldn’t help it. For the first several levels, I was just trying to make some decent Ground Force levels. I can’t help it if each and every level I made in the pack is not completely different from another one.

I’m a little surprised by how some of you reacted to several of my levels. I probably should have explained the strategy I wanted to be used in each of them. Like with Uncharted Territory and An Insidious Illusion 2, I wanted it so that when you shoot the tiles with pepper spray, you can barely see them disappear, thus giving an opponent on top of these almost no time to react. And with Tower of Death, I had to make it the way it was because if I used too many tiles, the level wouldn’t work the way I wanted it to, plus I wanted it easy enough to get to the top when there’s a lot of people playing in it. I know you can go to the top pretty quickly, which is part of the reason I added ammo (it’s also suppose to be a distraction). I figured instead of just going to the top and waiting for others, you could just shoot tiles and make it impossible for anyone else to get all the way up.

As for other things mention, it seems that you can’t play as Lori in TSF (from my short 5-second test). And DaThunderPX, if you go to the top-left at the start too fast before you stop flashing, you won’t get the coin and/or hit the crate that closes off the room. You have to use good timing so that no one else can go there, too.[This review has been edited by BlurredD]
