… ouch. It’s horribly out of tune. No, really. A novel idea, I’ll give you that. But it sounds like absolute hogwash like this.
I for one know you can do a lot better than this. And maybe an orchestral arrangement is just not the thing for you. If you do however want to pursue something in the direction of another orchestral arrangement, try looking up some more information. Especially when doing something like this it’s handy to know where each instrument is positioned in an orchestra and what it can and cannot do. (think of real instruments and how they are played)

That would be Skaven/FC. I mean, it kind of said that all over the original file. :)

Ah, music. Time to get nasty with a review. :P

First of, music is always welcome. Especially remixes, but that leads me to my main gripe: these aren’t really remixes. Just samples from one song slapped onto another song. No extra channels, no new rythms, just different samples. To top that off, it ain’t the first time somebody has done this.

Then again, this is one of the better attempts, so I guess that warrants a whole review from me.

Megairtemple – nothing spectacular here, the samples sound okay. It just could’ve been so much more. :\
Fanomondus – definitely the least best of the pack, most likely because of the snare being used as a tom and the use of a guitar for the main-melody.
Scrapivo – a real shame here, as using different samples kind of takes away the bombastic feeling of the original. This is were more channels and a few added melody-lines could’ve helped. The drums are nicely handled though.
Slugelectric – At first, okay. But then the use of the flutes… that kind of ruined it all. :D Shocking your audience is good in music, but this is just irritating.

In conclusion, good for a listen but nothing that’ll rock your socks. :\ Come on, I know you can do so much better than this! :D

Yes, Jazz Jackrabbit-remixes are allowed, even when they’re NOT (currently) used in any levels or so! And yes, don’t rate the music, rate the remix quality instead! ;) But that’s all beside the point. On to the song.

An interesting take on Tubelectric. Overall a nice choice of instruments. Though too bad that you didn’t find any room for the melody, which was one of the highlights of the original version.
Another gripe is the somewhat “dull” bass line. It could use some spice, and not just in the climax of the song.
Speaking about the climax, that could also do with a bit more bang. The build up to it is just fine, with the reverse cymbal and all. But you could do with a bit more than just letting all instruments play different parts. Think of for example a different snare-drum or some supportive pads (strings/synths/etc.). You could easily squeeze out a few more channels to do so.

Well, that’s all for constructive criticism. Time to get yourself up and rolling for your next tune. Keep this up![This review has been edited by Haze][This review has been edited by Haze]

Oh gawd, not another one… :P

Actually I wouldn’t mind more remixes of the same songs, however they have to be of some sort of quality. And this one, I’d personally have to say, is not one of them.

I can hear you’ve got some interesting ideas on sound effects, though not all are used as they should be. The rule that should’ve been applied here is simple: less is more!
More harmony than JSZ Jazz’ mix, though that probably is because less melody channels were changed at all.
And the major downpoint is the drumtrack. Weird cymbals flying all over the place and some added effects don’t instantly make for a killer drumtrack.

I wonder what would happen if we’d combine JSZ Jazz’ and your forces together? You both have strong points that blank out eachothers’ weaknesses. You two could give a coop a try and learn from eachother. :)

Is it me or is everything friggin’ detuned? Argh!

The drumtrack is good. What else is good, you ask? Erm… the effort? :)
Please, please, PLEASE brush up on your music theorem. You’ve definately got potential but I feel it goes to waste like this, sorry.

Nope, sorry. Doesn’t do it for me. And what’s that helicopter doing in there? :P
Though it’s a welcome relief from your usual style, I do somewhat prefer your other remixes.

Guess I then shouldn’t release MY Fanolint remix in the upcoming musicpack. :P
Anyway, the song. Fast and short, but it’s hard to make long remixes out of the JJ1 BGM’s. The drums are really getting kicked around and I must admit I find it a bit too fast for comfort. And aside from the update in speed and the drumroll-intermezzo I can find but little differences to the original.
More work could be done for a proper remix, but overal not a bad download.

Either JSZ Jazz music taste sucks, or its just not well done.

It’s just not well done. JSZ Jazz can do much better than this. I’m positive!
Though I must admit as well that I can’t find any Deckstar in it, aside maybe from instruments. :)

Is this an April Fool’s joke? I do not claim to be a numero uno tracker either but I agree with Aiko that it’s too much NOT a remix, “merely” some beat-track slapped onto it. Not very original IMHO, even my own remixes of JJ(2) songs are better (I’ll post something soon if you don’t believe it).
A 4 for the idea and the effort. Only download if you’re collecting this stuff… Come on Insectdroid, I know you can do better than THIS!

Almost forgot to post some constructive critizism:
- Don’t just increase the speed, some pitchbends are way off now
- Don’t plain slap on a beat, use instruments that fit you and the style of the song and/or fiddle in some nice new tracks
- Make it sound “whole”, as mentioned many times before, it now sounds as a (rock-)song with a seperate (rave-)beat under it. No good, amigo
- The only good parts where the intro-fx and the actual beat, put some focus on original melodies or instruments

If you’d excuse me, my head is starting to ache…
