Well, I don’t rate levels all that much, but since defalcon is a very kewlish person, I will rate this one. =P
The eyecandy in this level is nice, and I could hardly find any errors in it. (even though I really tried ;)
However, there are some errors in it. The corners in some places have annoying edges even though there are tiles for those type of corners in the tileset. There are also some errors when you stand next to third layer tiles, but it’s hard to avoid those errors so I’m not lowering the rating because of them.
The reasons why I won’t rate this higher than 7.7 is because of the corner-tiles-thingies and because it uses the diamondus tileset (which is very easy to work with.)
The rating is also lowered because it isn’t possible to rate 7.8 on J2O (shame on you Fquist!)
Anywayz, this level is very fun to play and defalcon have used the other layers very well to make a confusing effect (I know that it was your intention to do so, defalcon =) so if you haven’t downloaded this already, then do so NOW. =)
Pretty good level. At first, I would like to say thar the layout is very, very confusing, something that doesn’t really belong in fast-paced battle!
The eyecandy was very good, though – the level is full of trees and grass and more of that stuff. Great!
The amount of weapons is nice, as well as the weapon placement. Don’t really know what to add to that :)
Overall: Peopl should have checked this out, but it isn’t really wonderful to battle in because of the confusion(well, it can be fun, of course). A 7.7 Battle freaks should download this immediately, other people should check it out at least once.
I’m giving the level an 8.5. It’s not the greatest level of all time but it’s pretty good. Good use of eye candy and it was challenging, which makes it a near perfect environment for battle.
The level is well made, its easy to move around, not many errors, you can’t get stuck, there is good ammo placement, using different layers always looks good with that set, some day I will submit my level using the diamondus tileset ( single player ) but I’m too lasy. This is a good level, worth downloading :)
With the extra layer of fake ground in front of the actual sprite layer, it gets a little confusing while running around the level, but still isn’t too bad. The tileset itself is used very well with no apparent flaws.
The level is a little small and appears to be crampt, but I still had no problem running and jumping around the place, and didn’t run into many obsticals.
As for weapons distrabution, at first it appears sparce, but then I realized it’s easy to collect a lot in a little amount of time, allowing for some good fast gameplay.
Yet another Diamondus level, although I never lower ratings because the tilesets you use. Let’s get started, shall we?
Gameplay: The gameplay in the level could be better. It is hard to move around with Jazz at times. Also, the confusing layer 3 is there, although I know it is put there purposely, the point of levels is to battle and to understand what’s going on. I wouldn’t really consider this good for duels. Although the gameplay isn’t all bad. It is very open and spread out. That helps.
Eyecandy: The eyecandy was exeptional. Above average work for a Diamonodus level. Lots of nice gems, nice curvy paths. I don’t like flat levels, and this is the opposite. Good use of things like vines and trees. The backround used was traditional for a Diamondus tileset. I’m glad you fixed that error about those black lines in layer 8. I was never able to fix that.
Weapon Placement: The amount of weapons and weapon placement was pretty good. I never worried about running out of ammo, yet I wasn’t clustered with weapons all around me.
Overall, ‘Gemstone Warfare’ is a quite delightful level. I find it fun and colourful, unlike some levels that are flat and boring. Though confusing, I recommend you download this level from Defalcon.
Aside from being quite confusing this lvl is quite neato…..true its not very playable as jazz but then again alot of lvls are like that even the ones built by the pros :)
I only downloaded this to get the readme file. I already had the most recent version.
Overall, it is a farily good level. I do not think it is quite balanced to be playable with both Spaz and Jazz easily. I played it with both, and though I am not as good with Jazz, I came to that conclusion.
A very confusing level, I must admit. I definitely do not think it should be CTF, since you could take so many different paths and yet not know which is fastest and easiest and best to use. Definitely a battle level.
Mostly good. Probably the first level by defalcon that I ever played, and I am glad to have helped out in my own minor way.
Not too bad, I like the fact that the tilesets were used differently than normal. Though some navigatabiity issues and such make me decrease the rating by -.5.
Also, the music doesn’t fit too well.
Sorry but I can’t give a download reccomendation to this one.
Yeah, I asked him to help me pick out some bugs, sent it to him and he went over em.
Not too bad. A pack of three levels using Noraa’s awesome 3D tilesets. I esspecially like the third level (Emblem of Truth) because its pretty different from Noraa’s original levels.
Unfortunately, there are some minor tile(set)placement/mask/layer bugs and the music selection doesnt fit always in my opinion. However, its a nice pack and if you like interesting named 3d battle levels, you may want to download this.
Btw: Jeh tested this? Wow! :-)
Thanks. I appreciate comments like that, since my levels aren’t very good. =)
I like this level in a way: The tileset rocks (quite literally), and it is well made! shame its a bit small.
