The idea behind “Electric Prison” is interesting (as described above). Design, size and eyecandy are not. ‘nuff said (you may want to download this if you like Warps and/or the MEZ01 tileset :-)
Hey, i like the “Tree-Tops”. This level has a quite original design and eyecandy (cool background layer!). I admit it’s not very large but somehow…tight. Don’t know, maybe it’s the background which produces this impression. Anyways, the weapon selection will garantuee a real battle and overall you can have some fun with this. As Gargoyle said, a CTF version for our flag fans is also included. Could be a nice replacement for Stupid CTF i guess :-)
So WHY NOT DOWNLOAD? If you ask me, i’ll keep it on my harddisk.
Far to small but nice idea with the warps. But hard to get around in some places.
-Nit
I played this level with Gargoyle in battle mode it was fun but not such a good level; the top of it is just some platforms and that’s one thing that i hate in levels it’s the authers way to lazyly fill up the rest of the level.
I would give it a 5 for the fun battle but about the CTF it is VERY un fair that one base has a hard climb and he other is a defended location which to get to it you just need the use the left and right keys and fall, also there arn’t enough ways into the bottom base (blue?)
Hey GaR’! I think that’s your best so far =p haha.
First of all, the level’s size is only because of so much emptyness in it.
Second, this level is in carrotus and since there are so many carrotus levels that you have to make a special one to make it worth the download and this level is not at all impressive, its below average even. So I have to give it a 5.
The things I was gonna say are allreday said, but there are some things left:
The warps could be seen as annoying, but on the other hand they can give quite surprise. Like warpin behind your attacker and then roast his ass before he does 2 u.
The eyecandy is ok. 1b1 tiles are easy 2 use and can make great 1b1 platforms.
The gameplay isn’t very clever and (again) is way 2 small.
Overall a 5 (again ;).
What can I say about this. On the other hand I think: Wow, he used some good new stuff. But I also think the lvls are 2 small and the gameplay is freakin awful.
The background is fresh and new. I don’t agree with BlackDeath: If there’s air included in the tileset, than u don’t have to use that as background. This gives a bushy feelin and very different from other lvls I’ve seen. But to be honest it doesn’t look quite good.
There are no ‘ugly’ parts in the lvl, like a tree placed wrong on the ground.
The gameplay looks weird. 2 much of the same and there’s no real feeling in it. The lvls are way 2 small.
My conclusion is that these 2 lvls are a combination of average eyecandy, bad gameplay, but some original stuff used to make it look different from other Jungle lvls.
The idea to this level is ok and all, but it ‘feels’ small and it lacks variation. The only guns and ammo are toaster and bouncer.
The levels are hardly different and the only thing I could find was that one has digonigal islands and the other horizontal and verticle islands.
Im afraid I cannot give this any more than a 6.
The background is bad, wrong tiles are used as paralaxing (written right???) and the level ‘feels’ too small.
Also, the second (ctf) level doesnt much differ from the battle version, exept for two ctf bases of course…
A levelpack consisting of small lvls. Now what’s good and what isn’t?
The eyecandy looks good at most parts but there are some parts where it looks awful. For instant the third room in the castle level. However I like the background u used in Electric Force.
The levels are very small and don’t play very well. U could have taken more time for that.
The weapon placing is quite messy. Powerups everywhere and at a real short distance from eachother.
My conclusion: the levels look good at most places, but not everywhere. The playability is quite hard cos of the room u have and the placement of things. There are also a lot of dead ends.
5 looks good for this one.
A tip: Take more time to build your lvls. Your style is fine, but next time spend more time. If u make anoher level, I can test it for u before u post…Think about it.
That’s right, not all of us live on earth u know. ;P
“Gargoyle’s Return” is a pack of seven multiplayer levels using different tilesets (Jungle, Labrat, Tube Electric, Beach and Castle).
I have to say that i find it quite hard to rate this because the quality varies pretty much throughout the pack. In some levels i saw real nice eyecandy and some creative ideas, then again there were newbie mistakes like bad foreground layer work (in the Jungle level, for example). The one thing all those levels have in common is that they are small, small and small, if not too small. Could be fun with a small amount of people, of course.
As i said, this is hard to rate so i was quite undecided. Aware of the fact, the author put some real effort into this, the rating is above the average.
For small-level-freaks and Gargoyle fans, this may be the right choice to DOWNLOAD :-)[This review has been edited by Aiko]
Wait a minute, Garoyle. We don’t live all in the samest timezone as you… W need TIME to review it ;)
I’ll rate this soon.
Why dont you people review this?!
Not a Good Level
The tileset isnt very Good
could be better
Useless. The example level sux also. Don’t post things like this if it’s not finished. And, you can’t make level with this.
-Blew!
Can’t give it a rating since it is unfinished but I would just like to say that the zip file is only 6 kb, which means it won’t take a lot of webspace and it will most probably get better once Gargoyle finishes it.
Hmmm… it’s not a bad level, but a bit boring sometimes. The eyecandy is not bad, but can be improved. I’ve only found weapons, maybe a bonus (coin) warp was cool. Agreed to Aiko, ‘Only hardcore platform massacre lovers will like to download this. No download recommendation from me.’
