Meh. Not going to go through this all, but I didn’t quite like it as much as the rest. Since this was pre-awesome conversions by Violet/Noka era, the HH94+95 sets used were ones of poor quality. The levels were alright, but fairly barren with not much new. A few bugs in some of them too, like one of the save points in the holidaeus being next to blocks needing a trigger to open. Well, once you die and touch that save point, when you resurrect, the trigger blocks are set to 1st anim therefore masked, and you get stuck in a wall. Eyecandy is average. The pack isn’t bad, but I wouldn’t give it higher then an 8. 7.5. A nice little pack with some fun things, but most things aren’t more then decent. Download reccomendation, although I feel empty because I expected more from soemthing rated 9. Maybe its because I have a small headache atm. OH well. review ends =D.

in the first level you don’t have to fight with the queen. the queen is there because of the story. she’s there to capture you and put you to the castle dungeon
if you don’t play it in the medium mode you may not be able to fight with the end boss on the 3. level

I don’t know did PHT say this in the review, but in the first level, you can skip the queen by just running forward.
I played with the ‘easy’ setting so I don’t know is there the problem in the other settings..

I’ve seen this pack got a major update, so I replayed, now has come the time to re-review it. The new review will probably not be as long as the old one, because I am too lazy to write such a big one again. ;D

When compared to the old version, you can see that it was improved a lot. The levels are now longer, a new one was added, aswell as some other changes.

In the first level you meet Eva, who tells you that her mum has gone crazy, and she decided to catch Eva’s little Froggy and turn him into a moster with a morph machine. Soon after, Jazz gets caught up by Mrs Fat & Ugly and put into the castle dungeon.

From there on, you’ll have to find a way to escape, find the frog and defeat Eva’s mum.

All the levels are very fun to play, with lots of well placed enemies and other obstacles. There are also quiet a few puzzles, but sadly most of them have a text sign next to them which tells you what to do. Each level features an end boss, and every of them is different. I especially liked the Rocket Turtle at the end of the third level. The 4th level, called ‘The Crate Zone’ was almost completely redone, and like I said before, there was a new level added. That new level is not really a new level though, it’s the one you were playing earlier with Froggy. Still, it did add a nice touch.

Another good point of the Froggy Quest is that it is not easy. The enemies are often placed in very strategical locations, sometimes so evilish that it’s hardly possible to dodge attacks, but the many safepoints make up for that. The text signs next to the puzzles I didn’t like, but I can live with it.

A huge amount of work has been spent on this episode, which is easily noticable. There are a lot of inventive ideas, original bosses and every level is different from the one you were in before.

The eyecandy is also good. There are no tilebugs, and all the tilesets were used in a nice way. The ending tileset, which was made by the author himself has a bad palette, but I won’t deduct points for it, as there is an excusion in the readme file.

The story, although being not the best I’ve ever seen, is easily understandable, logical and gives it all a reason.

Overall, this is a very cool episode, the only downfall is that it was a little bit short, I began playing yesterday evening and finished today morning.

Still, a must download, and I hope to see more stuff from the author in the future. ;)

Well here is my review.

The eyecandy is really good and the leveldesign also. The item placements are really good and the coins as well.
In every level there is a shop you need coins for somewhere in the levels and you need to do some kind of minigames like jumping from platform to platform with windt.
I think it is a little bit to easy but that is not really a foult. I think that you repeat to much from spring to spring. The boss is really goood that you need to push the crates to the tnt
and get attacked by the same time.bye.

Now I have just uploaded the tilesets for you to a level pack called: The Kingdom Of Bilsy(tilesets) which can be found in the single player section!

The tilesets and music WERE uploaded to J2O, but the .zip file was too big, and it got deleted. I am going to assume I have all the tilesets used, though, as I usually do. Yep. FYI, they’re Jazzed Realm, Slimy Land and Winter Wonderland (in Wisety’s Wonders).
This is all very strange. I could have sworn this file was uploaded to J2O before, as I already have it. Looks helplessly at Chandie for explanation

Later edit: Well, there seem to be no explanation coming, so I’ll just review this normally.
STORY: The story is that Bilsy did… something, and you must find him and defeat him. Who says to be good a level pack needs a good story? Still, a little more in the way of plot would have been nice. Moving on, it is followed fairly well throughout the levels, with a brief excursion to defeat some queens which ends up tieing in anyway.
Pros: Handled fairly well.
Cons: Does it really matter what Bilsy did? The plot’s just very standard.
Rating: 7.7

TILESETS/TILESET USE: Once again, Chandie here uses Slimy Land (ET), Winterland Wonder (Disguise) and Jazzed Realm (Everlasting?), and if you don’t have these tilesets I don’t know what the world is coming to. Slimy Land is used completely as the author intended, with nothing paticularly strange. Winterland Wonder is mostly normal, with a few interesing transparency effects which end up looking good in 8-bit (and I could care less how they look in 16-bit). Jazzed Realm is hard to say, as I don’t know if it does have an intended way of use. Anyway, tileset use is good, some interesting things, nothing ends up looking bad.
Pros: Pretty much all works.
Cons: A few tile bugs in the Winterland Wonder walls, some masking problems here and there.
Rating: 8.5

WEAPON/ITEM/ENEMY PLACEMENT: This pack did quite well here. Everything was placed well, and while there may have been a few too many 1ups, everything else is balanced. Weapons, Items and Enemies are placed with the same care and precision you see in the official JJ2 levels. Bravo.
Pros: Yes.
Cons: Maybe a few unbalances.
Rating: 9.0

ORIGINALITY: Chandie is very good at balancing originality and non-originality. Chandie’s packs seem to start out with ordinary Jj2 play, then slowly grow more and more different as you progress. The three ice kingdoms were really quite interesting (though I can’t say I care for the foreigner text), and it must have taken some work to get not one of the Queen bosses to conflict with the others. Still, there was not quite so much originality as there could have been, and I felt it was a bit lacking at times.
Pros: Some interesting things.
Cons: This factor was a bit missing sometimes.
Rating: 8.5

DIFFICULTY: This pack is… well… easy. It’s not just that there are actually a decent amount of weapons – I used only blaster and plowed through the enemies with no problem at all. It just does not present enough of a challenge. No spike balls, spike platforms, paticularly dangerous weapons, or anything. The queens are fairly simple to dispose of (no spikes or anything), and Bilsy’s not too bad either. If there’s one thing this pack fails in, it’s giving the player a challenge.
Pros: Not beserk fifty enemies per tile stuff, or no enemies at all.
Cons: Too easy.
Rating: 7.5

REPLAY VALUE/FUN FACTOR: This lack pack is fun, and I may end up playing it for a third time, and possibly a fourth. Again, the replay value might be a little higher if it was a little harder, but it is fun nonetheless. Enjoyable.
Pros: N/A
Cons: N/A
Rating: 8.2

OVERALL: This is a good single player pack (probably better then NiP), but nothing too amazing. The eyecandy is good but not spectacular, and while it’s solid, it seems to be missing a certain something now and then. Regardless, it would have gotten My vote for LoTW if it had actually been held Saturday Evening, and not Early Afternoon.
Pros: Quite good.
Cons: A few problems here and there.

Hey, with my level there whas also a monkey part, oh no, that doesn’t matter does it? Now about the level:

GAMEPLAY:
In the first level I thought: This could bee a good level pack, but when I played it furter, it get’s boring. I mean, I only have to stomp some crates, where is the real action? I only have to put, in the last level my suger rush code on and then all goes automaticly.
The last level in overall: Only monkeys, monkeys and monkeys. But I liked the End Boss? I have put an quistion market behiend it because it isn’t realy an end boss, but about 15 monkey’s at one part! Nice idea. But you talk about Bubba? I haven’t seen him. I have now one thing to say, what I think it is funny, you must buttspomp a crate. Then I saw another crate falling in a bridge, I thougt oh no! Now I can walk the hole part!

ITEMS:
Very bad. Well, tho less weapons, but there are enougf carrots. The levels where difficult without the good ammo. I only hopped around with my blaster, and shoot monkeys. But there also are many save points, wich can help you on your quest.

EASY, MEDIUM OR HARD?
The begin level whas quit easy, but the next levels where becoming harder and harder. There are very much monkeys. Hm…Medium I think.

ENEMIES:
Only monkeys…boring… Shall I gues what number of monkeys there are in all the levels? Let me see… about 100-200 I gues. Ore is someone so stupid to count all the monkeys in the level?

OVERALL:
GAMEPLAY:3/10
ITEMS:2/10
ENEMIES: 1.5/10

A 6.5?

N
O

Oh, yeah one point for the idea of The Monkey Island, I don’t realy understand the story but that doens’t matter? Hm?
