Allies

Clans in Jazz Jackrabbit 2 sometimes start an alliance with other clans. The clans in this alliance are then called allies.

Consequences of an alliance

An alliance is an agreement between two or more clans. It usually involves the encompassed clans being on friendly and co-operative terms with each other. In the past, clans have tried to do other things under the flag of their alliances, like forming common warteams. One notable example of this was the alliance “Fellowship of Freaks“ (FoF), a common warteam of the Fellowship of the Ring and Total Freaks clan. However, other clans would usually not agree on fighting with such a mixed team.

Differences with clan groups

If a clan is an ally of another clan, this doesn’t automatically mean they are in a clan group. A clan group is usually a group of clans which also organize other events (such as real-life meeting or common online trainings). However, if a clan is in a clan group with another clan, they are also automatically allies.

Enemies

In the early years of JJ2 multiplay, clans didn’t only form alliances, but also declared other clans “enemies”. The consequence of this was usually that members were not allowed to help enemy clans’ members or, if the clan allowed multiclanning, be in the enemy clan too.

Recent activity

Forming alliances used to be a lot more popular in the early days of JJ2, when clan groups and enemies were more common too. After those years, alliances weren’t really popular anymore, probably because clans realized they had no real purpose other than confirming the good relationship between both clans. Recently, however, some clan groups have been formed (with, most recently, the Cyber Kinghts Alliance) and, partly as a consequence of this and partly because online multiplay has gained more popularity again, more alliances have been formed.
