This is 1.24, not 1.23. Anyone downloading should note that.
Tileset used is Hotel Dream. It’s not included and must be downloaded separately.
Low quality hotels are spreading everywhere among TSF servers. Low quality hotels like this. The first thing you see in this hotel is that it’s ugly. It’s confusing too. Before you know it, you’ve stepped into a warp and you suddenly appear in a diffrent place.
EYE CANDY:
I have no idea what those blinking dogs at the start are supposed to be. Anyway, the spawn area is the only place that looks decent in this level. The entire level is filled with tile bugs, you couldn’t even get the ceiling right. You can’t see any of the text strings because they’re at the top. A few @ signs could have done the job. The “Fire City” is the (worst) thing of them all. The Disco is dangerous to your eyes if you’re playing in the dark – it’s all flashy.
GAMEPLAY:
This is an annoying level to play. It’s hard to move around without suddenly getting warped somewhere. Anyway, you collect coins. The only way to get them is getting “a job”. Every single one of them involves sitting on a couch, automatically collecting a respawning gold coin. Or just become a “dancer”, survive the seizure-causing disco and get much more coins than from any other job.
About the hotel rooms and houses… for some reason, some rooms are larger than others. Poor Black Knight, you got the smallest house. Better luck in another hotel.
I don’t know why I have to wait 10 seconds for a door to open, and then go inside within 2 seconds. That’s annoying, but what isn’t in this level? You can’t have fun in this level, at all. Not fun. Instead of having places to go in, you get some sort of a menu where you choose where you want to go. Please, don’t do (menus) like this anymore. Have us players explore the hotel instead.
OVERALL 2.2
Join a TSF server and you’ll see a hotel like this. Low quality hotels seem to be produced every day. Do some work and hotels may get a better reputation. This hotel does have the English advantage over the others – this isn’t completely written in Polish.
[Negativity edit. Be nice to the users! ~cooba]
Wow this program is really good. It made making j2e files easier than ever as opposed to the hex editing method. Good job!

[Unacceptable rating (10) clearance. ~cooba]
Well, I just had to see why does this level have 10010 downloads. The beautiful eyecandy and 18 levels approve this to some point, but the levels are for playing, not for watching.
Here it goes:
Gameplay: 7.5
Traps, tons of enemies, puzzles… in fact, every level is a big puzzle. There is not much fighting, but you will die many times. You need to save a lot, but you can’t. Still, a lot of effort is put into it and that’s nice. Every tile in every single level is used cleverly. There isn’t any waste in space (unlike the official levels), and it makes the level look nice and finished. However, you’ll get bored very quickly.
Difficulty: 5.0
Easy is Hard, Medium is Hard+, and Hard is Hard++. I think that I’m going to need to buy a new J key because of all those cheats. I play JJ2 for fun, not for frustration. Need I say more?
Originality: 10.0
I think I only saw one other level that original. New enemies, scrolling credits… Just the idea of exploring lost temples and pyramids is, well, original.
Tileset: 9.5
The tilesets are great, customized for the level. This is an example when the tileset is made for the level, not level for the tileset. However, there are only three tilesets used (including the credits tileset) and one more tileset would fulfill the pack.
Eyecandy: 10.0
One word: EXCELLENT. Layers are used properly and I appreciate that.
Satisfication: 3.0
Ok, the boringness seals the deal. The pack is worth playing, but a little bit of difference between the levels would be nice.
OVERALL SCORE: 7.5+5+10+9.5+10+3/6=7.5
Download recommendation: Yes. It’s worth a try (a download). You have to see how do you like the pack yourselves.
time to turn my first quick review EVER into a full review.
This tileset blew me away.
What this is
This my friend is Heaven. Both theme while and tileset wise. This is a thing of beauty. this is a tileset that basically depicts the opposite of Damn.
Tiles
I could go on for paragraphs about the tiles. Lets get started. The overall look it great! Everything you need in a tileset is present. (even some Heaven rabbits) At first I thought that the yellow ground looked weird, but I soon realized the beauty. It looks great. There’s also vines, flames, doors, warps and keys. there’s stain windows that look great and what looks like Egyptian text. I also learned that rabbit Heaven revolves around Jazz and Spaz. There are also fireballs and weird faces. Finally, there are clouds and and water blocks. The only thing i can think of is missing are tubes and hooks, but you can make tubes using those heads and with the amount of vines, hooks aren’t problems. I think everything else you need is here!
10/10
colors
The colors look brilliant! Lots of color. Can’t believe this is only 256 colors!
10/10
Pallet events
The only ones that work properly is the water and textured background. However, there is so much creativity in this tileset I can’t let them hurt the rating that much.
Masking
The masking is pretty good with this tileset. I looked at it, and there wasn’t many errors. Good job on that!
10/10
Reusability
Even though this tileset is limited to Heaven, there is still so much you can do! The reusability is great as you can do a temple, outdoors, mixture, and maybe even a little garden. Great job!
10/10
Final score:40/40
Score: 10
Rank S
DR? I know this would be a 9.5 if i included pallet events, but I don’t really care. the tileset just has to much creativity to not get a 10. I wish Agama was still making tilesets! Download right now and use it!
I can’t imagine why you decided to release this – after all, there was a reason why “nobody from the ‘elite’ wanted to give it to others.”
Anyway, now I guess it’s available for all to use. The documentation is pretty helpful, and the included files are all useful. My one suggestion is that it might be worthwhile to include the original images used for the official JJ2 episodes (in case people feel like editing them/examining them/whatever).
My one final word to all the people who download this: please, before you go releasing an episode with a custom .j2e in it, make sure people know it’s there. As we all know, having too many .j2e files can cause problems.
To short, to easy, boring, nothing new.
Sonclution bad level
Darn! It takes looooong time to write a new with it. It’s not very easy and fast way, but beats hex ten times.
I’ll try to make a Finnish language…
By the way, I don’t think it’s hard, because I’ve been programming GML, HTML, C++, and these and those, so I can’t see any problems in it, good work!
Not bad. Love the name changes. Good work.

Phew. A battle level? Looks like a bad single player level. (no offense meant)
Sorry, being offline for such a long time, I forgot my review rules. So, here we go anyway:
Layers:
I didn’t really make it through the level to see it. It’s really difficult to navigate. And that’s supposed to be battle? Battle levels have to be fast.
The backgrounds are bad, except for layer 8, which is textured. And the whole level is made of stomp-blocks, which makes it very difficult to run on those blocks because there are no slopes. I might be wrong, but this is what I see.
Weapons:
There are: Pepper Spray, Launchers (bouncers in JJ2-speak) and TNT. I didn’t see any other weapons. There are powerups for: Seekers (no ammo, just the powerup), and a Blaster powerup. Nothing more, I think. And the ammo is placed very oddly. When used with the stomp blocks, everything is horrible.
Pickups:
Ammo, nothing else. You don’t really expect anything else in a battle level. There are some coins, perhaps for some bonus warp, but I saw no carrots.
Eyecandy:
Very bad. As I said, the entire level is made out of stomp blocks, and there are so many that they block the background, which is practically the best thing in the level to see.
Gameplay:
No slopes, oddly placed ammo, some coins (not a bad idea, but where’s the warp?), warps (which is really annoying in a battle level) and no carrots. I’m afraid this level has bad gameplay as well as eyecandy.
Other:
The tileset is Carrotus, an Epic tileset (I prefer Epic tilesets over user-made ones, but I don’t have the time to explain). I didn’t hear the music, because my speakers don’t work. But the level itself isn’t really Carrotusy, because there are only stomp blocks, and nothing Carrotus-native (nothing that Carrotus has) like the grass and stuff. The name of the level is really un-creative, it shares the name with the tileset. Very bad.
Final Rating: If I could give one, then 2.5.
Download recommendation: The same as with the rating, if I could rate that, then it would be NO.
Final Comments: As long the author isn’t one of those who just register, upload something, then never come back again, then the author shouldn’t upload everything and try out new things, learn from other levels (I created a few good battle levels, try searching, that’s why we have the search engine for) and stuff like that. There are plenty of good articles on J2O about level making. You can also ask on the forum, there are many resources to help you out.
Wow, I have written quite a long review.

Really nice program. It’s very easy to use.
Now I can make J2E easily. Thanks zapS!
I must agree with FS. These levels are way too small and easy and gameplay is just too boring and annoying. There are really poor foreground concept in level 4. I didn’t like it. Well the eyecandy is ok in some levels like in level 2 but it could be better and more improved. I must say that story is interesting: ‘‘Jazz descends into te abyss for one final romp before he dies’‘ Sounds cool. Concept is also good and theme is nice.
After all nice story but poor gameplay. I’m disappointed but you can do a lot more better levels right?
Download recommendation: No

I think this is a test. It’s (bad) don’t upload tests like this. It’s a wast of bandwith.
[Negativity edit. Also, as a site worker let me tell you that a 1.5KB file is not possibly wasting any bandwidth at all. ~cooba]
its a very good program…
but when i want standard CTF colors i just use carrotade thats :
1.better
2.more stuff
3.it does the same options (+stuff :p)
it is a good idea but your to late =
Carrotade is Rocking at the moment :/
this hotel isnt good :/
its stupid that when u go up u get a sunlight … its to strong all contrast settings are stupid then…. change it and work on the eyecandy
This is not a good level. The eyecandy is very poor. Only the “!” blocks have been used for a Layer 8 Background which looks messy.
If this is supposed to be a test level then there needs to be more than 3 tests as that’s all there was. The whole thing was just too short (about 1 minute).
I just felt bored, so I decided to review something, and I chose this, because it is heavily overrated imo.
The layout here is a real mess. It’s a bunch of random platforms and passageways that don’t really connect together well, and seemed to be placed without any proper thought. The level is mostly fairly cramped, and is very Spaz-biased. The flow is rather lacking, and there are dead ends too. In general, the gameplay is too chaoti and confusing and thus needs a lot of improvement.
The placement here is questionable, as there are no seekers, which would be the most useful here, and the 100-coin contains both of the PU’s, and has the only carrot – which is a Full Energy. It would take a long time to gather 100 coins; and you’re likely to get killed before you can get even close. The ammo flocks are also very large, which isn’t always a good thing. Also, this uses Gun Crates, which can cause lag in a server.
The eyecandy here, is very repetitive
and mostly looks very un-realistic and chaotic. It was considered really good back in 2000, but nowadays it’s fairly average. At least there aren’t very many tilebugs.
Overall, this was thought of as a great level 7 years ago, but now in 2007 it’s just another generic, average battle level with many questionable problems. As we all now know, Evilmike is an awesome level maker – one of the best imo, so this doesn’t really mean anything.
