I’m Spear i was 10 when i made, i cant make levels
i place sometime a new levelm i hope it get a better ranking!
BlurredD you probably have wrong version of this set. there are two versions (i think.) form Blades wasteland tileset.
Danyjel, in the game, COMMANDER Keen, Keen all most beats a man up for calling him Captain Keen. He prefers Commander, thank you very much. ;p
I had great fun playing this.
GAMEPLAY:
Inspired by DW? Maybe. Gameplay like DW? Hardly. This level has some flow, but not much at all. It’s mostly platforms (and not pretty ones) between each base. Squared-off platforms don’t exactly scream fun. Base placement isn’t the worst I’ve ever seen. It’s just very boring: one route to each base located on each edge of the level. But that’s not the worst part; it’s everything in between the bases. I’ll explain these balance issues later on in the review. Also, there’s one annoying bug which seems to have been overlooked by the beta-testers: players can get stuck in the tube near 64,27. It might be hidden, but it’s not too hard to go into by accident. Fix it, please.
EYE CANDY:
Well, the tileset isn’t bad. However, it lacks a whole lot of variety. As a result, this level looks awfully bland and dull. I can’t say what should be done to improve the eye candy since the tileset is rather limiting, but I suppose it’s good for the tileset.
CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:
At least it uses a full energy carrot. Too bad it doesn’t help enough to make the level balanced. All of the powerups are on the left side while there is a warp to the carrot on the right. There is a way to make this idea of balancing a level work out—just not in this level. I can almost live with the ammo placement, but it seems to be missing RFs. No RFs? That’s insane. There isn’t even any pepper spray. OK, so it’s not the most important thing, but still… I like my RFs.
HOST THIS OFTEN?
Host it, if you have much lower standards than me. Otherwise, no (sorry). AvK, Spotty, and Black Ninja could have done a better job beta-testing the level. I’m giving this a 5.7 just because.
The Edit: Alright, so maybe a 6.0 (with the bug fix), but that’s as high as I’ll go. Also, I don’t recall those beta-testers making too many CTF levels in any case (no offense).[This review has been edited by BlurredD]
When I try to start the program I get this really annoying message saying it can’t load “ENGLISH.J2S”.
…
Good remake. I think it is not usable for future, but… I love Captain Keen!!!
OK. Then, 7.5
…
Original.
Nice.
Now I know you are good level designer.
And… good tileset designer.
It is small, very small, there missing lot of tiles. Here is good make new color dimension(;p). I give 7.5. Good!
I think this was a joke.
Regardless of it’s intentions, it’s a ctf lvl and I shall review it as such. The layout of this level feels really random, and the weapon placement is only so so. The carrot box is placed very badly, and the one power up is also very badly placed. Sorry lrk, but you get what it deserves.
Pros:
Not a bad level.
Cons:
Overall, not a good level.
Overall: 5, just 5.
Btw: Next time don’t upload 2 hour peices of work.[This review has been edited by Inf. Spaz]
JKSGDH how could I have missed those other 2 power ups. Must have been busy with other things. Rating changed to 5.7. walks away feeling like a foo[This review has been edited by Inf. Spaz]
No.
You can see, what missing in your tileset. Small and boring level. Maybe it is original, for it I give points. Diamondus Warzone is much better. OK. now you cannot make CTF levels, but, if it is your first CTF level, then, good…
I love moon, what is in left top… It is cool. And music is good too. I think, this is average level.
Spaz, this was not joke. This is only great foo war. Yes. I am foo.
Or, I don’t understand you. Yes. I think I don’t understand you.
Oh, I said average? Then, 5.5.
And, there are bugs. If you will betatesting, you will have not these problems. (If you will have masked sucker tube, then one and only variant is rejoin.)
LabRat, sorry, but this is not good level. But, not bad… I said. Average.[This review has been edited by Danyjel]
wel it is just a bad level but good for sombody who dident play [so lets stand make] a jazz levels for even more than jear[almost but is wil try to repractise] ohje the devil traps are almost cleare only to go dt 2-3
and dt 3-final
This is a okay tileset, but not a great one, and certainly not a 10. The ground here was fairly bland in my opinion, but the overall cartoonyness of this tileset made it really interesting. There are some fake jazz’s and stuff, but they all seem to enjoy floating a few inches above the ground. The text and exit signs are taken from screenshots. Shame on you. Their is a red switch that can only be set to on, sadly, and some random vcr stuff. And finally, WHAT are you thinking adding only vertical sucker tubes. We need horizantal. Otherwise, some of the are actually kinda bland. I also need more (useful) animating stuff.
Pros:
Well, it’s not a bad tileset.
Cons:
Lacks some stuff like horizantal tubes.
Strange, stripy ground.
Ripped text and exit signs
Ripped characters float.
Overall: 7.0
Btw: HAHA the music form the original medivo. Iteresting choice. Next time make a nice on-off switch, not just a on-on switch. That would be so useful for triggers.
Well, I’ve definantly seen worse. But I’ve also seen better. This level is just about average. The Layout is kinda annoying, because I always seem to overshot where I am going. The Bouncer powerup was placed very oddly, and it is camper friendly. I would prefer it if you could only get carrots from the top, becuase then they would be evil. All carrots should be placed in generally bad locationd to be in. There is ammo here. ALOT of ammo. Also, the 2 start locations are right next to eachother, making this not very good for dueling. At least place them on opposite sides of the level. Finally eyecandy was only so so. I would have loved this level with chains in the foreground, but thats only my opinion.
Pros:
Camper friendly.
Cons:
Camper friendly.
Mediocre layout.
Bland Eye candy.
Overall: 6.5
Btw: Music choice kinda annoyed me, but I rarly take music into account with lvls.
Looking at this in jcs made me squirm. It looked so complitcated and hard to use with all of it’s fancy grounds. Upon closer inspection I realized that it wouldn’t be that hard at all. The lamps were exceptionally well done, and the ground was textured quite nicly. However, I was really wanting a plain of chocolate with chocloate trees. Sadly, this tileset like all tilesets has it’s downsides. Any, I’ll shut up now and give you the review.
Pros:
Very well drawn ground and lamps.
All of the essentails, like poles and sucker tubes. Yay!
Cons:
Some tiles were bland…just bland.
The spikes didn’t look like spikes.
Overall: 7.7
Btw: Nice job on the caption…Whee argh!
This set seems indeed unusable until you look at the example level to see how to use it. The mask is great, and the graphics look very nice. The tileset reminds me of one of the tilesets from Monster Bash (episode 2, levels 1 – 3). It also reminds me of some of Blade’s sets because the centers of big blocks are solid colors. The tileset has basically everything you need. In 8BIT mode, the water looks green. Cool =) The snow doesn’t look too good, but you really don’t need snow here. Still, it’d been nice if you made the snow look decent. Pinball events and poles do not work, either, so I might have to take off a tiny bit. Sorry. Overall, nice tileset. Download reccomendation, definetely.[This review has been edited by labratkid]
Darn it! I absolutely hated this tileset! It made me so hungry!
No, I kid. Although it did make me hungry, I loved it. It was done well, and everything is able to fit together. Though it seemed a little dark. There are a lot of items, such as hooks, vines, poles, spikes, etc. The spikes don’t exactly look like them though.
How do you make a tileset look this good? Do you draw it? That doesn’t seem possible…
Hmm…interesting. When I saw the tileset it was more cave themed than chocolate chip themed, but it was good. I like the vine and hook events, they looked cool. The ground looked ok, but like I said before, looks more like a cave. The techno platforms look interesting but I don’t know where they fit in all of this. The destruct blocks look like chocolate chips, though. The backround looks a bit plain, and caveish. Tileset isn’t as userfriendly as you think, when I viewed it in JCS I was like “Woah, what the heck!”. But you’ll get used to this sooner or later. I really like those little tunnels and the lamps, they look cool.
Bah, sux. I don’t have time to finish this, so rating and stuff will come later.Nice tileset CB ;)
I like it to make level’s with this tileset, very handy![This review has been edited by DeepD!sh CC]
I love it, just talented!
Bunnyelmer? why bigger? it’s big enough! :S
Hmmm i dont like dark tileset’s make more effect’s in the ground in your next tileset!
