Yet another fun game of Let’s Steal Another Reviewer’s Rating System. Anyway, this is a pretty good level for a first level. Read on.
STORY: There was no story for this. That is OK, since this is a first level and all. For future reference, make sure to make a story in all of your single player levels. It gives atmosphere to the levels and gives a reason for players to finish it (albeit a mythical reason.)
Pros: Not applicable.
Cons: This category was entirely missing.
Rating: N/A
TILESET/TILESET USE: The tileset use was…uh…missing, sort of. There were a lot of blank patches which made the level look pretty strange. Diamondus was used fairly well (that is, where it was used). Tile bugs? There were a few. The trees were very mangled. Had more time been spent on making the tileset use look better, the rating would have been higher. Overall, tileset use was alright…stil, not anything special, and way too barren.
Pros: Not too many tile errors.
Cons: Tile errors in the trees. Barren. Nothing interesting eyecandy-wise. Suffers from a lack of creative tile use.
Rating: 5.7
WEAPON/ITEM/ENEMY PLACEMENT: Woah. I have to say that the enemy placement was a little overboard. First of all, most players are not skilled enough to be able to battle 40 BeeBoys as a frog. Also, the generating piranahs were extremely evil and hard to defend against. Tone down your enemy amount, since at this rate the level is pretty hard. Item placement and weapon placement, however, were good.
Pros: Weapons and items were placed more or less well.
Cons: Too many enemies at times. Regenerating fish are overwhelming. Enemies while as a frog are impossible to kill.
Rating: 6.0
ORIGINALITY: Generally, for first levels, this category often has two results: either the level is so strange it is bad and nearly unplayable or the level suffers from a complete and total lack of any creativity. This level falls into the second category. Diamondus, a fairly common tileset, is not used in any amazing way. Simply, it is a boring level in both gameplay and eyecandy. There is nothing ingenious here and nothing that no one has seen before. If you are looking for creativity, look elsewhere. It just is not here.
Pros: Not applicable.
Cons: There is absolutely nothing new here. Look elsewhere for new things.
Rating: 2.0
DIFFICULTY: Mainly due to the test warp being left in, this level is way too short. However, if you play the entire length, it is a tad longer – but not all that much. It was probably a bug. The level is generally more or less easy, though all of that enemy clustering was more or less aggrevating. I will treat this level as if the warp does not exist and assign it a verdict for being far too difficult at some points and far too easy at others.
Pros: None that I can think of.
Cons: Erratic difficulty. Warp at beginning (considered a bug in final rating.)
Rating: 4.5
REPLAY VALUE: This meter is in many ways derrived from a combonation of overall quality with more emphasis on creativity and gameplay, with (at the higher end of level quality) a moderate degree of emphasis on eyecandy (only if it is interesting). Let’s just say that this level is not fun to play again at all. There is nothing creative here, nor is there anything to keep players interested the FIRST time, let alone the second.
Pros: None that I can think of.
Cons: Not creative at all. Tedious.
Rating: 2.0
OVERALL (not an average): This is a fairly good first level. Do not feel discouraged by the final rating, as everyone’s first level usually is not all that good. It does definitely show some effort, though that bug involving the test warp is fairly major and you may want to remove it and reupload this. Regardless, this level suffers from a lack of creativity. I am not sure whether this was a lack of inspiration or just the fact that this was a first level, but this level is too much like most other levels. Still, it is a fun play and worth a download if you really like seeing first levels. For everyone else, this is not a necessary download. Keep working on levels, however – this shows definite talent.
Pros: Definitely shows some talent.
Cons: Nothing really outstanding about this level in general. The bug with the warp makes it too easy for cheaters.
VERDICT: Overall, I give this a 4.5 since it is slightly above average and a download recommendation for those who like seeing promising newcomers.
Rating: 4.5 (Not an average)
Evil Ghosts
This large zip file contains 28 files of which 26 are levels, 1 is a readme file and 1 is a musicfile. The readme is a good and clear one, with some cussing such as ‘GETDA*censored*UP’. Chill out.
“Nirvana”
The story level using Mez01. It’s a nice storyline and there are no bugs encountered. Good.
“Pandemonium”
The second level uses another Mez set, and it all starts in the Sewer. In my opinion this is very original and it looks good. I played along for quite a while without any comments just because this is a good level. You even made use of sound, which is good as well.
Just like other people mentioned before ‘TASTE THIS censored’ and other language isn’t really needed, although it fits the mood of the level. Remember, there are kiddies around.
Too bad I also found some tile bugs like this:
Later you arrive in an area with springs on each side and respawning food in between. What’s the point of this? Do you want us to get sugar rush?
This level also has an endboss. That’s pretty much this level, and I liked this one.
- CONS:
Some tilebugs, sometimes too much repeated tiles, mature language
+ PROS:
Strategyful, long, interesting, good ideas.
VERDICT:
A good level which requires skill and strategy to finish it.
LEVEL RATING:
8.0.
“Under The Sky”
This level uses the Easter tileset (like that one!).
You overused the eggs in the floor a bit, it’s kinda annoying in your direct vision. You can go two directions from the start, so I first took the right one and then the left one. This appeared to be possible, so that’s a yay.
Going to position (337,33) you can see that you repeated one specific tile lots of times.. It disturbs a little because it’s a weird tile.
You should also practice a bit in stomp scenery blocks and the tile they change in when you stomp them. Look at this:
There’s also some excessive food use on the hills and a tile bug at (482,62).
Together with help of Chuck the bird and the needed powerups you can finish this level pretty fast.
- CONS
Sometimes a little boring, some small tile bugs
+ PROS
Chuck, interesting trigger ideas.
VERDICT:
A good level which you shoudl play when you want some challenge.
RATING:
7.0
“Some Carrotes For The Rabbit”
Levelname: Carrotes? I think you mean Carrots or something. Please check your levelname before you put it in a pack.
Again, there are some minor tile bugs. Using a destruct scenery block as a thing a V- or H-Pole can stand on isn’t very professional, it actually looks pretty noobish. Prevent that from happening next time.
- CONS:
Average looks, quite boring. I didn’t enjoy this one as much as I did the other ones.
+ PROS:
The size is OK. And just an average level.
VERDICT:
Not my favourite by far, but it’s OK.
RATING:
6.0.
Again, this level has some minor tile bugs. It begins original, first you have to find a crate to begin.
Now, you gotta fight Bubba, and that’s it. End of level. Well, ‘censored who made the level,’ I didn’t die. ;-P
I don’t really count this level because it’s just a boss level. No rating given.
“THE DARKENING”
This is supposed to represent the Hell and lol.. When you fall you’re pretty much dead. I don’t know, but I found this level very odd.
“HELLRISER”
Hellriser starts off with a text saying ‘Here lies Spaz, friend of Jazz.’ and it’s followed by ‘Rust in peace’. Heh, that’s ofcourse supposed to be rest in peace. Probably you just mistyped yourself here.
The background probably has to be something like water and a bridge. This level is nice.
Here lies the author of this level. Rust in peace.
RATING: 7.0.
“New-Jazz-City”
No comments. Nice, 7.5
“Balls of Evil”
OMG. This scared me and made me type jjnext. This isn’t any good.
“City’s Powerhouse”
Pretty disturbing text strings, again. “Find and censored!” uh, come on. Got a little trouble with your hormones, eh? I mean, just express your sexual feelings and behaviour in real life and don’t bother us with it.
“Electric Death”
Thanks for involving my name in the title.. Err j/k :P One thing that’s bad about this level is that you can just walk off… Not good.
Another thing is that it again uses some mature language. ‘censored Bolly or he’ll censored your rabbit-ass!” Uh, come-on! You DON’T put such text strings in a level. Shame on you.
“Daddy’s Birthday”
Apparently Daddy’s Birthday around Christmas and may it be a good one.
I can’t help it, but this level’s not really good or bad. It’s average.
“Whispers of Ghosts”
At first sight I already found a tile bug, check (2,88) and (19,114 + 27,114). At (26,20).. Helmuts walking on vines? That’s sorta odd. I also found a very original idea, you know, the “bended stuff” on e.g. (58,75).
Also, I think that swinging vines (122,12) in a Castle looks weird. The idea is ok though.
Generally, this level is just fun to play.
- CONS:
Tilebugs here and there, some weird events involved.
+ PROS:
The author put some serious effort into making a challenging and interesting level. Good.
SEPERATE LEVEL RATING:
7.0
—
And these are just a few levels of this level pack. All have some kind of strategy and tile bugs. Some are just good, some are average. However, I won’t bother rating them all; it would take ages and it wouldn’t get too interesting to read.
I think I recommend this if you have a whole holiday of doing nothing and you don’t know what to do. Peace.
RATING
7.5
MESSAGE TO DESTROY:
Yes, I knew you meant the cussing something differently from what you wrote down explicitly, but still you could’ve put it an other way. It was all clear for me what your purposes where, you just could’ve said it nicer.

This is a very good Conquest level and i like it so to sum into to one word . Its brill . Well that was two words but who cares
//Shiverz\\
Jazz Jackrabbit 1 Forever
About the level:
A little empty at the begining, the first savepoint is to near.
The scene with the frog:
It looks like your going to be hurt, but you can avoid being hurt, if you begin to run as the frog the moment you turn in to it.
The secret places:believe it, or not, but i found them acsedentaly.
The 1-up crate: its a bad idea to leave life in a wery reachable plase.
The tileset: overused, but still a good one.
Boss: its better to make a big arena for the boss fight. Also, try to use the X-SCROOL.[This review has been edited by GAMER]
I think this should be included into “Joz grove”, as the final level. But after the autor of this “level” says the password, and the other guys will fix the level.
BJARNI, you forghot to rate the level!
music: a good one to. Thery original,“BLUE”. I think i heard it somewere.
tileset: well, i think everywone knows BLUE tileset. Personaly , I like it.
level: nothing left to say. The other guys informed you about it.
Owerall: 8
Space’s Plummet
Below that nice message of Bjarni I review this file. It uses the overused Mez01 set and the used Music file is Castle, which sounds horrible in combination with the level and tileset. At least there is a next level setting..
Is this supposed to be an actual Treasure Hunt level? There’s only one gem ring, and there’s not a lot of ammo either so I doubt if this is a battle level. The only thing that’s working are the triggers and scenery. Uh, yay?
The Bouncy +15 is overused.. Don’t you think 20 instead of 99 would be better? There’s no background scenery or eyecandy.
- CONS:
You can’t decide whether this is a “test”, a battle, a CTF, a co-op, a single player or a TH level. The music choice is bad, the tile placement is bad, there’s no background scenery or even eyecandy.
+ PROS:
The author apparently knows how to use triggers.
VERDICT:
Maybe if you want to die you should choose this level to play. Absolutely no download recommendation.. You’d better not waste your time on this.
RATING:
1.5.
Devans Revenge special: 13th Diamond
The zip file consists of 2 files: The level and the readme. The readme doesn’t tell us a lot more than the author described above, but at least we get to know he made this level because it was his 50th download on J2O… Are you sure this is true? :-P
The level makes use of the over-over-overused tileset Diamondus by Epic. I played for like 20 seconds and I found a dead end already, on (24,0). If you walk on one of those blue bridges (20,27) you notice some tile bugs at the spikes and that’s basically everywhere you placed spikes. Also, look careful what you do to the sides: (135,51) for example .Another thing is that you should use more springs. Lots of double jumps and uppercuts annoy ya.
.. And another dead end! This time at (69,48). The text signs are good: they’re multilanguage, Dutch and English. Next time you put text strings in a level, make sure you place some @s in front of them, e.g. 3. Otherwise it occurs that the text stucks to the top of the screen, which makes it read pretty hard.
The small puzzle was fun, but not too hard. The idea of a weather forecast (Strong Winds) was obviously stolen from The Secret Files’ Easter levels. Also, you spelled it wrong.
Text String #3 tells us to find a crate, but to stomp this one you have to get up. This is basically impossible with either Lori or Jazz, since you need to use the double jump. Try to make your levels not Spaz, Jazz, Chuck or frog biased.
Lunchroom Frogface was intended to be a nice idea, but it wasn’t that good. With all the enemies at the table, eating food you steal from them, a smoking caterpillar it’s not really a nice place to be.
Whee! Frog fun. A witch comes out of the blue, turning you into a slimy frog. Jump over the turtles and other animals and let Eva kiss you.
The level ends with an endboss.
- CONS:
Some minor tile bugs and places which are Spaz biased. Not too challenging.
+ PROS:
OK Size, some good and inventive ideas. The level shows the author put some decent effort into it.
Verdict
An OK level with good ideas and could use some eyecandy. Not too challenging, but it’s fun.
Rating
A 7.0.
Cool level! With 8 coins! Amazing! But I think they should be Timebombs(TNT) cool anyway! 8 because
-1 Have more weapons
-1 Have Seaker powerup!

What do you mean for that? Please re-upload this! :)
Hey, this is good for your first level. Okay, heres my review.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay whas nice, only a bit difficult at some parts, and don’t put a hurt event at sideway spikes. It not get’s boring and thats good. The level whas big for your first level. In the level you have to stomp and search in holes, but theres no story in it, and thats to bad. At a point theres a down market, I thougt I’v got to go in there: Wrong! I walked to the left and I go to the H-pole and then: Poing! I whas bounced back! A nice idea. Overall: the gameplay whas good. The shooting upwards whas fun.
EYECANDY
Man! The eyecandy is realy great for the first level. That ,,Jersey” animating title is funny. But I found a few eyecandy bugs, but every first level have that. The factory and the underground whas good. Only, as Violet CLM said before, use an other titleset for your first level.
ITEMS
Bad, to much candy at one point and to much purple gems, only one power-up: the blaster. And to much gems at one point. There are to less carrots in the level, for the rest, theres nothing left. Far to less.
ENEMIES
A little to much. In this level you’ll find: Demon, Doggy Dog, Skeleton, Bat, Bum Bee, Lizard, Helmut, Dragon, Sucker, Float Lizard, Dragon Fly, Bee Boy, Monkey, Norm Turtle and the Bolly Boss. Strange placemtent of enemies, don’t you think?
EASY, MEDIUM OR HARD?
Medium, the level wasn’t that difficult.
OVERALL
I’v realy enyoud the level, a 6 and a download reccomdend for people bored and want to play a quik level. Good for your first level, Jersey-devil! But next time, use an other titleset will ya? The download is a little much. P.S.: I’v realy anyoud the music! ( I din’t say anithing about the credits level, but thats okay, hm?)
The download is not working.
Well, what you can do is:
1. Ask the admins to trow this of and try to upload again.
2. Mabye your Internet is not very well, let it checket. :)
GooD Treasure Hunt,
Bud the music ,
thats not a good choice.
Come on guys !
Good music ,
Good Tileset,
G0OOOooooD level!
only a bad ting:
how pickups are in the level,
where they are in the level.
Hmmmm, what to say. The flow is really terrible. I’m not sure why somebody would design a level with such a confusing layout and some many walls. Argh it’s almost painful. The Weapon placement in unbalanced with many advantages to blue. The coin placement is unbalanced with many advantages to red. The powerups chosen were also bad. The only saving garce that I can find is the Eye candy. Sure the tileset was a horrid choice, but he got the level to look actually good.
Good:
The eyecandy was marginally ok, with a bad tileset.
Bad:
Weapon placement
coin placement
powerups
powerup placement.
Ugly:
Design flaws
Awful Flow
Conclusion: 6.7
A bit jagged with many design flaws.
Blackraptor made another CTF level…
GAMEPLAY:
In three words: unbalanced, confusing, annoying. It doesn’t look like there was much effort put into giving this level good flow and balance. Some of the same tiles in the sprite layer were used in the background which is usually a bad idea. And the warps to the right of the blue base are annoying. Here’s some advice: try to avoid placing one base much higher than the other one; it makes the level harder to balance. And don’t use so many poles.
EYE CANDY:
The eye candy isn’t that bad except for the same tiles used in the BG and layer 4. The level doesn’t look bad, but I would probably like it more if it used another tileset.
CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:
There is a full energy carrot which can only be reached through a 10 coin warp. And on top of that, it’s much closer to the blue base than the red base. That further unbalances the gameplay. You shouldn’t be putting full energy carrots in a coin warp (unless if you do something like what Cell did in “One Silver Penny”). And even worse… there’s also a +1 carrot near the blue base. Let me move on to ammo placement. It’s not so good and I think it’s been placed just so that the level has some ammo in it. I’m not sure of what you planned on using the ice for. The powerups are, well, repetitive (at least with the bouncers). 3 bouncer powerups total (and one of them is in the coin warp).
HOST THIS OFTEN?
Probably not. 6.5 because this level needs a lot of improvement.
Cool level! 8 because
-1 More weapons
-1 More enemies
Cool anyway!
(Rating removal. -Trafton)[This review has been edited by Trafton AT]
I believe the “MCE” you’re talking about is what you get when you combine Devan (Robot Boss) with any boss other then Robot (Robot Boss). Including Tweedle. It’s just a weird boss.
Blue Planet v1
Good level, lets start the review.
To the right of the blue base is a load of pickups, which is probaly
not make a problem in duels, due to collecting before battling.
Eyecandy was good, almost great..
The flow as a bit rough, but it still played good.
Weapon placement was good, and looks very cool in some places.
There was a coin warp that led to a bouncy powerup, and carrot, and had the text,“I am not your math teacher.” Maybe I’m the only one to not get it..
Coin placement was very well done.
Tile placement was perfect as far as I’m concerned..
Good level, just a bit confusing in some parts.
It’s diffrent, and that’s good. Download it.
Ok, here goes.
The level is fairly small, and it uses agama’s awesome set. The music is ok, could of been better or could of been worse, but its on the positive side. The eyecandy can get confusing and its a bit overused, but its ok. Ammo placmeent is a bit boring, and the seeker is in a dead end. The carrot placement is a bit biased. There is one plus 1 carrot (at least thats all ive found)and one fullengergy accesed by warp, the carrot placement is a bit biased, since the +1 carrot is closer to one base than the other, while the fullenergy is closer to the other base, making them have a bigger advantage. Ninja tried to make the carrot placement even, but failed. Not all sides of the level are covered, so a flag bug is possible. Also, what blurredD said about the ground is true.
Ill give this level a 7, because its ok. but doesnt strike me as much as some other CTf levels.
