Backround is nice, and so is the layout, except soemtimes it was hard for me to get around, and there is not enough to explore. The ambient lighting used to make the gold grounds sparkle was pure genius, and boosted my rating of this level by a lot. The CTF bases were ok placed, i couldnt have placed them any better here, so they add on to the mark. Ammo choice was annoying, to much of a variety in one place, the game kept changing the ammo for me when i got new ammo so it was annoying and by the time i got the right ammo i was killed. I guess i should use the weapon keys (1-9) more often. Other than that, the ammo placement was good. Eyecandy and gameplay good too, no comment. The only things blocking me from rating this a 9 were the small things like springs placed poorly in some places, and the fastfires were all bunched up in places etc. I have half a mind to rate this 7.7, but i rated an 8 because i play CTF levels in SP when i am rating them, and i usually get stuck t\in the ceiling when i start, and i have to use jjfly and jjnowall all the time and etc, but CelL generously placed the warp there so when i start instead of being stuck i warp to some place in the level. Thanks CelL :)

OVERALL: A good detailed level with tons of good points and only a few barely noticable bad points, and worth a reccomendation to all you out there :)

So this is the infamous one thousandth’s upload (counting deleted ones)
Well, it uses disguise’s fun Darkened Landscape tileset, and a music named _alamages.it or something. The music choice could of been better, but it had some beats in it which made me figure why CelL would choose it to come with the level. The ammo placement is above average. MY complaint is that the fast fires were all bunched up, and you would expect everyone to go to that area to get all of them. They should ofbeen scattered around like the ammo, but thats just my opinion. The text -Did you ever feel you were being watched?-(I spelled it in correct grammar here), made me notice the evil eyes in thebackround, and made me stupidly try to hide behind a wall from them;P The layout is ok, the level is semi-large. The springs are used in a good combination with the one ways. The bases were placed ok, the powerup could of been placed better, but oh well. I really cant decide what to rate this, maybe a 7, 7.2 or 7.5. Ill just leave it N/A, but ill change it once im ready to make my decision.

It was ok.
The ammo placement was spaced out. Two icecubes here, 3 pepperspray there etc. A large variety was used and it had an interesting and strange design. Although i did feel the fastfires were overused. The eyecandy was good, nothing wrong. Vines in the foreground, but only a few, and a nice backround + backround eyecandy. The ground confused me at first, but i got used to it. The layout was good, a bit to small and a lot of jumping, but springs made up for that. I just thought the layout could have more “feel” to it. The spring placement was ok, the blue spring at the bottom left was sometimes not high enough, but it was ok, not to big of a mistake, and it did sometimes bounce me up to the platform, but not always. Well, i dont have much to say about this. Its a fun level with a good music choice, but i feel more effort could of been put into it. Still good though. Oh yeah, the bases looked kinda weird, partly “floating” in midair, which wasnt so good.

IS surprised he hadnt rated this yet

The tileset is cool, i love the backround, even if it isnt textured, those eyes are awesome, especially if you play a level with this set late at night. The tileset has the basic things, and a nice……bloody….ground with tombstones and dripping blood and brown dirt like walls. It has backround layer branches or pipes, whatever they are, and has a lot of stuff. Not the easisest to use, but fairly simple and fun. I reccomend this to all evil people out there, and to Batty Buddy (Halloween), but not to little kids who enjoying being home alone at night while playing computer games. The music was quite breathtaking, and I have one comment about it-Thank god i wasnt listening to this at night :O:O:O.
Thats all,and a download recc.

This level is evil in my humble opinion for a few small reasons. First of all, the entire level is nearly completely covered with layer three eyecandy. Sure, this makes the level look better, but it really does not do much for gameplay. In fact, I can find many instances where the level just sacrifices gameplay in the persuit of great-looking eyecandy. Yes, this level has some of the best looking eyecandy around. However, this causes the flow to suffer, and suffer it does. The only thing that annoyed me eyecandy-wise was the annoying rain. It falls waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too fast and confuses me. Still, this is a good level, but is a little more look than substance.

+ PROS: Looks great, plays pretty well.

- CONS: Annoying hidden masked tiles, rapid rain.

VERDICT: Not a bad level, but I was nota s smitten with it as the other reviewers were. I give it a 7.0 and a download recommendation. For CTF lovers, this is a must-have. For others, this is not a necessary download, but still will not disappoint.

I don’t know why we shouldn’t rate it, because I think they’re cool. Of curse they are mising alot of stuff, and the pictures of yourself input is a little too egoistisk. But they have some nice ideas, I think this is over than okay.
Keep practice and you’ll get a nice result a day.

Well, Nickadot, I have to say I am disappointed. Almost all of your uploads have either been 5 minute levels, rips of other levels, or just blalant theft of another’s work. And this Battle2 edit is not exactly reassuring. First of all, this .ZIP file unzips to /jj1diam/ or something like that, which is really annoying. Make your ZIP files unzip to the default directory, PLEASE. And now for the review.

EYECANDY
Tileset Use: If you are going to make a completely ripped edit, you should at least put some effort in it. And this obivously lacks effort. There is nothing but the basic ground tiles in this level. Not only does it look way too simplistic, it is downright ugly. The only redeeming quality to the eyecandy is that the author at least did not use the same ground tile over and over, but the level still looks ugly. The eyecandy in this level just is not good at all.
Tile Errors: Tile errors abound in this level. There are plenty of questionable uses for tiles (such as using the same tile for destruct scenery as the wall.) but then there are just plenty of downright errors. Blocks placed incorrectly, gem patterns only half completed, missing tiles – you name it, this level messed it up. There were plenty of oppertunities for interesting tile use in JJ1: Diamondus, none of which the author elected to use.
Creativity: Creativity is in the eye of the beholder. Sure, edits may have some creative spark to them, but this edit is not creative by any definition. This level is about as creative as a bar of soap, and about as enjoyable as well. There is no background where there should be one, and the default layer eight background is about as interesting as dirt. The level in general shows no creativity eyecandy-wise, nor gameplay-wise. Oh, yes, and the springs are floating in mid-air in some cases.

PLACEMENT OF STUFF
Carrots: One carrot. Yes, one carrot. And in the same place it always is in – the room with the springs. There is not much to say about this, since nothing was changed about it. So I will leave it with that.
Powerups: This level completely lacks powerups, just as the original Battle2 did. Not much to say there.

Basic Weapons: Well, there has not been anything changed since the original Battle2. Basically the weapon placement is the same as in Battle2 – nothing more, nothing less.

GAMEPLAY AND FLOW
Flow/Navigation: This version really messes up several crucial parts of the level flow. All instances of One Ways have been completely removed, and the springs that occupy the upper right of the level are just floating in mid-air. Not only does this look strange, but they are quite easy to get stuck in. It does not completely ruin the original flow and navigation of this level, but it definitely hurts it. This just is not a good edit.
Layout: Layout is, again, the same as Battle2. Not much to say here either. Everything is where it used to be, though there are problems caused by the conversion that hurt the layout. Nothing much to say here other than just look at Battle2 if you want an idea of what the layout of this level is.

BATTLE SPECIFICS
Compatibility: The level did not crash my computer, nor did it cause any problems. Yay. I guess.

SUMMARY
I’ve never been particurally fond of edits of Battle levels. I have really never been fond of conversions into different tilesets. And I’m not fond at all of this level. Not only is it a conversion of a level that really did not need conversion, it hurts the level. I do not mind conversions as much if they improve eyecandy and even maybe level flow, but this one worsens both of the forementioned areas. Unless you are really and truly desperate for a JJ1: Diamondus version of Battle2, I suggest you stick to the original. Then again, if you are desperate for a JJ1: Diamondus version of Battle2, personally, I would wait for a better one to come along.

+ PROS: This level has a next level setting, so you will not have to play it in a loop.

- CONS: Ooh…Where to start. There are many tile errors, flow problems, and problems that could have easily been avoided if any time was put into this level. It probably just took about ten minutes, and that was it. No effort whatsoever. Shame.

VERDICT: Again, I despise edits of levels and I also despise conversions. This level does not do anything to lessen my hate of this genre. In fact, if anything, it just strengthens it. This level really messes up the original and makes it more tedious than it originally was. With an uninspired background and equally as uninteresting idea behind it, this level is definitely one to avoid. You can find much better conversions than this one, which is saying a whole heck of a lot. For this, I give a 2.2 rating and no download recommendation. Put more effort into your levels or you will likely see more ratings along this line.

The level, wich uses the Jazz 1: Diamondus tileset, don’t have music because the good one isn’t included. I really CANT rate this, it’s the same level as Battle 2, you should include Epic instead of Bunnyelmer, but much bad than that. I’ve seen many conversions, like the nice conversions of Pyromanus, but this is barf. It doesn’t have ANY 6 or 7 or 5 or 3 eyecandy. The left side, the springs and carrot, don’t have a wall, so you can easy kill people, and the eyecandy is barf. The destruct blocks are really strange because Nickadot uses ground instead of destruct blocks, he don’t make them speed 0 so they respawn and give strange animations. The one way is gone, it’s just a hole now, and the ceiling springs upper in the level floats in the air.
If I may rate this, I should rate it a 4.0 or something, and o download reccomedation – only if you have a Battle 2 collection.

Good start, but much is left to be desired. As Taz said, the destruct blocks were a little weird, the springs were floating in mid air, and the background was very plain and boring. The tileset wasn’t used very well in the creation of the level but the flow was fairly smooth. However, the spring area, I felt, was not carefully redesigned and needed more work. So, good start, but keep working to make a better level.

Okay. I’ve just went through this level pack and I’ll try to tell as much as I can remember.
First thing that I dislike about this mission pack is that it comes in a folder but unlike RHG this one has everything in it including music files and tilesets making them unavailable for JCS and levels. The second thing is that if you want to start it you must run it from that folder. You could have included the starting level outside the folder so people could start it form jj2 and for that your rating goes down.

Now the levels.
As already mentioned the carrotus levels are badly designed with almost no eyecandy at all. As one of the ToD’s on J2O say… Spend time on your levels if you want to get a good rating on J2O. The Diamondus levels look better than the carrotus ones but there are still some bugs in them. I also want to mention that my jazz crashed a few times when I completed a level. I don’t know if this has anything to do with the level pack but I’ll count this out. The colon levels have some good ideas. I especially liked the “And stay out!” one. Some bad eyecandy can be found on roofs but the sewers look more or less OK. The castle level probably is the most well designed of them all. Then comes this boss level with a new good-looking tileset. I like the skull with red eyes in it. After beating the boss you enter a bonus level with bad design again. This level is proably the worst of them all. Bleh. No more bad words…

And finally! There is a funny Flash Readme included. There really isn’t much to read in it but at least I keep laughing when I hear that rabbit force sound. You can hear it 100 times while moving the mouse crusor over the headding because it is a badly designed button. I guess the author isn’t so skilled in Flash yet :)

Overall:
I give this mission pack a 6.7
+ 0.3 for the readme
+ 0.2 because I’m in a good mood

Total: 7.2 + Download recommendation[This review has been edited by Overlord]
