sniff he finally did it- he said he would be makin sumthin big- and he did.

Ahem!*

Now review- Great levels- practically exactly like the actual hocus pocus game!

Put as the fist post said bad enemy placement- i know they dont have the same enemies but, for the ememies you could’ve tried “stop enemy” personally, ive never used it. But it might work.

Good join violet, and good luck for making episode 2! (for us that dont have the full version- like me :()[This review has been edited by KILLERRABBIT]

Basicly, this patches also boss music for Dirty Landry.
And it isen’t such of a great file.
I prefer this than for the orginal boss music, and wanted to share with other people.
If you don’t like the idea of change your .j2b names, fine, do not download this.

This level is pretty good. Mostly I didn’t like the idea of having to fall down everytime for the ammo. You should’ve added more springs. Otherwise it’s fairly small, but the right size for a battle level. And remove the copter and put an airboard or Flyboyy carrot, copters get screwed up easily.

Another Good conversion from Spoy, it has enough tiles to make a decent level and i’ve noticed a lot of invisable blocks for creating illusions or whatever you have in mind. I wanted to have a long review but theres just not enough material to cover.

So download and enjoy yourself![This review has been edited by Fire Sword!]

Wow! Nostalgia time! I had the full version of Hocus Pocus, and loved it. These levels are emulated perfectly! It must have taken a lot of work.

The trick with the switches is really cool, however I found it hard at times to flip them just right. Still, a minor complaint. And I also have some others, but they aren’t your fault. Stupid JJ2 drops fastfires from enemies, and makes the game too easy. Oh, and in the boss level, you can get hit while stomping the trigger crate.

The credits level at the end is worth beating the pack for, it is very cool and original.

It was great fun reliving the first episode of Hocus Pocus. Of course, Jazz jumps higher, but not as far, and runs much faster. But that cannot be avoided. Your enemy replacements were usually pretty good choices. Overall, I am very impressed. Great job. You know, I’d love to play the other episodes ;P. (Although they might be a bit more difficult to do, I’d imagine. Like elevators, for instance. Well, I’d give Jazz a hoverboard in the elevator shaft and have fly off zones at the exits.)

I know, we aren’t supposed to ask for the other episodes. Alright, fair enough. I’m still wondering how you converted this so well. Great job! A 9.2 for great levels, and lots of effort.

It’s kinda stupid and lame to delete all low reviews, admins. Do you have some kind of secret deal with Mirrow? Like.. An admin: “Mirrow, even if you upload ugly tilesets, we’ll make sure that you will get a average above the 8,5.” Luckily I’m not the only one who thinks that rating on J2o is kinda unfair.

Sounds kinda fishy to me. Unfortunately I can’t rate this because the (-) admins will just delete the score.

And btw, the black and white version isn’t really black and white, it’s pink with grey. Just compare this tileset with one of Agama’s… They almost have the same rating but this one has a so much lower quality than for example Egypt that it makes you wanna cry. ;_;

The best part in this tileset are the animations, the worst part the backgrounds.[This review has been edited by CraccoBoy]

Hmm, I kinda like this conversion. It’s better than the included conversion of marbler in JJ2, because the blue around the tiles has been removed and there aren’t those evil mask problems anymore.
Still, conversions arent your own work, but I like this better than your other conversions. Here’s a big fat 5,5 (which is almost the max which I give for a ripped tileset, GOOD JOB).

No example level. Boo.
Anyway, conversions just don’t deserve high ratings, because they’re not your own work. I learned from that too, and now I only draw tilesets. You should do the same thing.

It looks kinda odd too, it’s small and ugly. Here’s a 5 for the effort (IMO it deserves less, but I’m not a bad guy).

My, yes, it has been fixed totally. Which is why.. uhhhhh.. well, you get the idea.

It’s a single player level, true. You can go in two directions at the start (after getting the four electro blaster powerups), one of which gives you some stuff and sends you back to the start, the other of which is the “main” path. At the bottom is some scrolling lava, but sadly said lava is also to be found at the top, which looks weird. The tileset is used semi-ok in some places, but most places have a bad use of it.
There are either no enemies or lots of enemies. At the end of the first level, you get to fight Bilsy (after getting the eight or so Seeker powerups). The second level is a plain fight with Devan, no platforms or anything. Yawwwwn.
You get the idea. However, it’s kind of ok. For example, there’s this interesting place with ramps, and I sort of liked what you were trying to do with the blocks.. though it came out rather badly.

I give this level pack a 9.5, for great effort, a good design, and for bringing back a classic. Good job. By the way, I can see why level nine was hard, but it wasn’t THAT hard. (No, I’m not trying to show off…)

Violet, how about recreating Sonic? (Since JJ2 is pretty much the same, but with a gun.)

Hocus Pocus rules.

“Higher Fragging Rate” was intended to bring some strategy into the fairly strategy-deprived world of battle levels. This is a step in the right direction, but there are a few more steps before battle is truly a strategy-heavy mode. The level may be gameplay-centric, but it is not short on gameplay. It has an elevator-ish background with a foreground that is sort of industrial (it uses 7th Lava Fall by Dethman, which usually ends up either looking like a city or some sort of factory, this time it is a factory.) Weapon placement is good, but not amazing. The flow is good, but there are some places where it is hard to move around. It did, at times, remind me a lot of battle1, with a lot less ammo. It’s definitely worth a download and the eight point two I’m giving it. Great job, FireSworD.[This review has been edited by Trafton AT]

Unofficial Official Reply N/A Review:

@luuk:
I actually had reasons for choosing which enemies were which. Mushrooms, Bear-Dogs and Penguins all walk around normally but run at you. That’s what a Doggy Dogg does. Dragons and Eskimos walk around and shoot at you. That’s what a Hatter does.
I’ll admit the flying enemies were less accurate, but JJ2 has no flying enemies that are very similar to those in Hocus. Red Demons and the Birds act the same, so I went with appearance for bats, and Sparks were green demons because they can move great distances.

@Trafton:
I know about the bug in Level 4 with the Doggy Doggs, and I meant to put something in the readme about it, but I guess I forgot. So..
Warning! In Level 4, get the Silver Key before using the combination lock switches after the Gold Lock. Otherwise you are likely to get unfairly hurt.
For those you care, the sucker tube bug mentioned is as follows. If you go into the white potion to test the first combination lock in level 4 from directly below it, exactly on center, you’ll get stuck. Because that’s how JJ2 works. Sorry.
Can’t believe I missed the bug where you get stuck in Level 7. File reuploaded.

First off: this OVERRATED IMHO.
This will be a short review:
The animals are nice, sometimes very nice.
But the rest of the tileset is lacking much…
Not enough shading…
No textures…
The textured background doesnt work in 8-bit…
Everything except the animals is very, very simple…
There aren’t v- or h-poles…
There IS pretty much eyecandy.
erm… here’s the conclusion:
The tileset has nice to cool eyecandy, but lacks texture, beauty and all the needed things.

Needs work.
(btw, I know this review suxors, but IT’S just what I think of it. I didn’t feel like typing a whole 500 word story, I’ll save that for trafton.)[This review has been edited by Piccolo aka SoulFire]
