Yaya.. my traditional awards thread. This actually seems to be the third year I'm doing this in a row. So, respect.
Well then I gave you few ideas of stuff that I particulary liked. Although you can, you don't necessarily have to vote for them. This can also make a decent list of everything that was made during 2006 and is worth to have a look at. 2006's best level maker:

Oh, I'm nominated =D. Here are my votes:
Best levelmaker: Birdie - Victorian Urban, LaYOutZ CTF Package Blackraptor - Race for the vodka, The Chasm, A Generic Single Player Level Cooba - Random Race Levels, An Uninspired Psych Level, The Dismal Palace P4ul - Eastern Swampside, The Death Facility, The Temple of Suffering, Cursed Leaves Snooze - Randomizer, Romantic Landscapes, Teacup, New Ages CTF Superjazz - Ctf4all vol.2, Atom Heart 243.5 Really hard. Birdie has made interesting CTF layouts and a good Battle level, but other people have made very nice levels as well. Blackraptor made awesome levels as well.. just as the others. Snooze started the year with worse levels but after Teacup and New Ages CTF I really don't know what to think. By the way, if you would list what I made this year then it would be a pretty long list.. Private Property, Unknown Hills, Serious Emergencies, To The Point!, First Boredom and Particular Difficulties.. 15 levels total. Anyway, Snooze gets my vote here. 2006's best level pack: LaYOutZ CTF Package by Birdie New Ages CTF by Snooze Particular Difficulties by DarkSonic StreetF.pak by Impressive Creations Um, hard choice.. one is my own pack, one is a pack just uploaded, one is a pack with really interesting CTF levels and the fourth is a pack with really nice SF levels. Have to go for StreetF.pak I guess. No, I'm not biased. 2006's best CTF level: Atom Heart 243.5 by Superjazz Helldome by EvilMike Teacup by Snooze Technodus Cargo Station by Ragnarok The Boneyard by Snooze TCS is from 2005, but just uploaded. It's really cool though. The Boneyard is in my opinion as good as Teacup, Helldome is a really evil level and Atom Heart is.. well, one of my favourites. Atom Heart 243.5 gets my vote here. 2006's best (non-CTF) level: A Generic Single Player Level by Blackraptor Boomerang by Cooba Shade Castle by Violet CLM The Chasm by Blackraptor A Generic Single Player Level is really hard and long, Boomerang is a very nice Race level, The Chasm is a LRS level that's still fun to play and Shade Castle is an interesting Single Player level as well. Shade Castle gets my vote here. 2006's best tileset: BioWinter by BioHazard Kansas by LMAT Omen Woods by LMAT The Twilight Park by Blade The Twilight Park is really nice but hard to use for me, BioWinter is nice but not the best, and Omen Woods and Kansas are tilesets that are really nice as well.. I'll go for The Twilight Park 2006's best tileset conversion: Inferno 2.0 by P4ul JJ2 conversion pack by NOKA Jungle 2.0 by P4ul Legendary by Chiyu JJ2 Conversion Pack has a Tube Electric conversion and 2 others that are really nice, plus it was a Featured Upload in October. JJ2 Conversion Pack gets my vote here. |

Best Author of 2006: Birdie - I liked his creative approach to gameplay concepts, and he worked well with themes.
Best CTF level of 2006: Helldome by EvilMike - A semi-unique gameplay concept, with a little strategy and neat carrot placement (SJ had the idea first though, so he deserves credit). Best level pack of 2006: New Ages by Snooze - I really can't say much about this besides snooze has been quite busy lately. ;p Best (non CTF) level of 2006: The Chasm by Blacky - His most abstract level so far, and the theme is great. Best Tileset of 2006: Twilight Park by Blade - Need I say anything? Best Tileset Conversion of 2006: Inferno 2.0 by P4ul - To be honest, I haven't been too impressed with any of the conversions besides Violet's and Noka's but theese are an exception. Some tiles were made to be more 'flexible' and tile friendly and the color schemes on most of the sets are pretty neat. |

Best levelmaker: A close race between Snooze and BR. While Blacky has done a lot this year, most of his levels (and all three ones he released) are old, recycled ones, while Snooze managed to work impressively fast with his levels. I mean, both levels 2 and 3 from New Ages were roughly finished in one day. That's commendable.
Vote goes to Snooze Best level pack: Tough choice. While New Ages was done incredibly quickly, and Layouts CTF Package is as ground breaking as a CTF pack can be, I think I can safely assume that the street fight pack had much more planning and (needless)effort put in to it. Moreso, the other three choices are CTF packs, and this is certainly refreshing after all the CTF madness. Vote goes to StreetF.pak Best CTF level: Another close race. Helldome and Teacup are the only levels which I've played competitively in. Both are fast and strategic, and both look very good. However, Helldome is suited bigger groups of people unlike Teacup, and I do prefer teamplay over duels, even though I'm honestly not a good player at all. Vote goes to Helldome Best non-CTF level: The thread says I don't have to vote for the highlighted uploads and so I won't. Instead, I'm picking a truly ground-breaking level. While not of too high quality, it's as amazing as a 0-player level can get. Vote goes to Running Rabbit Best tileset: BioWinter is really good, but I have a personalized fondness of the concept of LMAT, even though it doesn't seem to work with this community. Oh well. Vote goes to Kansas Best tileset conversion: While there was some great effort put into the 2.0 tilesets, I can't just ignore the tilesets which were the first ones to make me drop my jaw in amazement. Well not really the first ones ever, but in a long period of time. Whatever. Vote goes to JJ2 Conversion Pack

Woah, I made 3 entire uploads this year? I am so awesome.
Will vote soon because I can't decide on a few categories atm.

I just noticed that the original post linked to a beta version of Helldome. I never realized I had that zip file there. Anyway, I reuploaded it (http://evilmike.mynuts.org/jj2/EvilMike602.zip) here so people can have the final version. It's nearly identical to the beta version, all I really did was tweak it a bit. I'm partially to blame for the beta version being the more common one, since I hosted it a lot more than the final version.
As for my vote, I'm only going to vote for one level, and that is Shade Castle by Violet (Single Player). |

Best levelmaker:
Tough choice. I think this year that Olsen has made some really nice levels this year like The Highlands and Distant Thunders. Best level pack: New Ages was a very nice CTF pack, but my favourite level pack this year is Particular Difficulties. Best CTF level: Boneyard has some great eyecandy, and the layout is 1337. Best non-CTF level: By far, it has to be the awesome Shade Castle. Best tileset: Kansas is a very nice set, but my favourite this year is Omen Woods. Best tileset conversion: (-) + rocks! It's the awards-time already! I'm giving my votes as well.
Best Levelmaker: Blackraptor, for The Chasm and his few other levels. It was actually a very hard decision, since Snooze did several sort of neat levels lately but was sort of inactive(and worse?) in earlier -06. As well Birdie's work was very outstanding, but it wouldn't be as good as The Chasm for example. Best Level Pack: New Ages by Snooze, was anyway the best level pack. The choice here wasn't as hard, as it is a really decent pack with 5 creatively made CTF-levels. I would say the rest of r3p's nominees at least receive a mention from me too, though I haven't seen the SF-pack properly yet. Best CTF-level: Helldome by Evilmike, although that one is mainly that popular because of the actual concept. Still everything else in that level is fairly good and that makes it really superior. Technodus Cargo Station by Ragnarok would probably get my vote after this. But also, though I know people quite hate the level, I actually did like Russian Satellite by Emperor enough for a mention with it's many-sided gameplay. (That doesn't mean I would be saying RSat>Rsoup anyway.) Best non-CTF level: The Chasm by Blackraptor, that impressed kinda many people. The layout is very great. But what was even more amazing, is the awesome and original eyecandy made with that tileset. There were some other good single levels in this category as well, but any not even near to this one's quality. Best Tileset: Twilight Park by Blade. This one in my opinion belongs to the very top in all-time tilesets in fact. It really offers everything, and is user-friendly. Best Tileset-conversion: JJ2 conversion pack by NOKA. First, this one is a conversion-pack, which is already a good thing. And as all of them are quite decent ones, the pack gets my vote. Jungle 2 and Inferno 2(improved) by P4ul nearly matched. Some things I would like to say also... Atom Heart 243.5, I understand and appreciate people actually like this level, but it has a problem that a 2vs2 here once proved. While you could score only barely in duels probably, teamgames with even teams don't really work at all. As when there are more people to roast the flagholder, there are also more people to recapture. I have thoughts, but I'm not sure what actually makes scoring that hard there. As well I would say CTF4all2 lacks of a trustful review, no offense, in case some were after the ratings.

Best Levelmaker: Snooze (duh)
Best Level Pack: New Ages Best CTF-Level: Radiation Best non-CTF Level: The Chasm Best Tileset: ... Twilight Park Best Tileset Conversion: JJ2 Conversion Pack It's been a good year... |

2006's Best Levelmaker:
Most people say the obvious choice here is Snooze, since he had a great finish to the year. However, I do agree that his start to the year was a bit weak, and it's not really new for him to produce good levels. I'm inclined to vote for P4ul, because I didn't even know he made levels before this year and suddenly there's some awesome levels by him out. He does focus on eyecandy quite a lot and sometimes focuses on layout less than he should, but I like what he's done and he inspired me to actually make some levels, which is important so my vote goes out to him =P. Choice: P4ul 2006's Best Level Pack: The Street Fight Pack was pretty good (and a welcome change instead of CTF packs) but I wasn't really as impressed by it as I hoped to be (and Streetfight levels tend to be pretty small). I'm going to go with New Ages by Snooze. The early levels (Question;, Complex) weren't too great, but I enjoyed playing through the latter 3 levels (Persona Lity, Radiation and the Boneyard) and overall the pack was pretty good and I'd have rated it higher than the StreetF pack. The speed the New Ages pack was completed at was pretty insane too. Choice: New Ages CTF by Snooze 2006's Best CTF Level: I didn't like Atom Heart at first, but it sort of grew on me despite me losing about 10 JDC 2vs2s in it. The Boneyard was also a nice level that had very well done eyecandy, imo. However, Helldome was fun from the first game and had a fun concept to it which made it original. I really don't have much else to say, except that it gets my vote. Heh. Choice: Helldome by EvilMike 2006's Best Non CTF Level: I'm going to be a jerk for this one and, as much as I loved Shade Castle, vote for The Chasm. I really loved Shade Castle and gave it an absurdly high rating (and I might even go as far to say that Violet has probably turned into my favorite current levelmaker), but I'm just (-)ing proud with how The Chasm turned out. Hopefully, if anything, I've proven that you can make "dark" levels in a rather bright game such as JJ2. Choice: The Chasm by Blackraptor 2006's Best Tileset: At first I thought it would be Twilight Park hands down, but somewhere in the back of my head something is telling me to vote Kansas. That tileset is completely weird and begging for something abstract and screwed up to be made with it (and from what I've seen from Birdie's level, could be used to make some awesome looking levels). However, Twilight Park is a very solid tileset and is just plain awesome. My vote goes to Twilight Park, only because despite its weirdness, Kansas feels like it still could be improved on quite a bit. This was a rather hard decision though, and could've gone either way. Choice: Twilight Park by Blade 2006's Best Tileset Conversion: Inferno 2.0, hands down. The Chasm v2 >O! Choice: Inferno 2.0 by P4ul I don't think 2006 was all that great of a year, really. We had some good releases but a lot of things were missing. I wasn't too happy with the amount of good tilesets released this year, and I didn't see too much stuff that made me want to get back into the game (since I pretty much didn't do anything at all for like, the first 5 months of this year). I should've released more stuff this year ;\.

Yes, it is quite annoying and sad to see that even active participants in jj2 as well as jcs haven't voted yet. This year just hasn't been too spectacular. 2007 looks promising though, considering the new arising jcs pros who submit their works to the preview thread in the jcs forum.

Yes, because Snooze and I will release level packs in the beginning of 2007.. probably. Those who have seen the levels from Impressions and New Ages II: Tale of a Snooze know that these packs are great to start a year with.

Your tilesets are not great
and don't you all forget what IC releases in 2007.
