New JDC season coming soon

A new season of JDC will be starting soon, in approximately two weeks, either on the 3rd or 4th of June. In case you’re new or something, JDC, or the Jazz Duelist’s Challenge is a sort of open tournament we have for JJ2, where anyone may participate and schedule their own duels. If you’d like some more information, you can always read the information page.

For this season, we are going to be introducing a lot of new things for events. The scoring system and site will remain the same, but events are going to see a great expansion. With all the new developments in JJ2 hacking, gametypes which were impossible to do before are now easy to run, and other new things can be accomplished.

At the moment, the JDC site is still not prepared for the next season. In the next two weeks, don’t be surprised if you see a bunch of weird stuff – it’s probably just us testing things to make sure everything is working. I’ll make another news post once everything is prepared.

We are also always on the lookout for officials, particularly for Western Europe. If you think you can be of assistance, post a comment here, or post in the JCF thread in the tournaments forum. Officials should have good knowledge in English, be easy to contact, know how to use a spreadsheet program (such as Microsoft Excel) or at least be good with notepad so they can do scoring for events, and have a decent personality. A good internet connection is always helpful too, as is previous experience with JDC as a member.

Finally, if you are good at art, design a nice new logo for JDC and we might use it (but you have to post it in the thread). Otherwise we’ll just stick with one from a previous season.

Feel free to post any comments or suggestions you have.

Yay, another season of close intense fights, shocking duel outcomes, annoying cheaters and tons of laghits.

I saw BlurredD testing some stuff today so I tried it out. It’s cool!

Yay for JDC goodness. Hope there won’t be too much cheating this year.

On a different subject, if you really can’t find any other euro volunteers, I guess I could handle an event here and there. My ADSL has gotten replaced with cable, and this seems to assure that I don’t get disconnected every 10 minutes anymore. I’m a bit out of practice, but re-learning how crates and stuff worked in different gametypes shouldn’t be overly difficult.

However, I will be having my evil finals in June, so I won’t be online 24/7 during that month. That’s basically why I volunteer only if really no one else is up to the task. I’d hate to say “Stand back citizens, I’ll handle it” and then do a bad job if I can’t be online enough.

Should you need any Euro event help, I’m here :p.

omg…why does it need to begin just at the BEGINNING of my exams?_

DarkSonic on 19 May 2006 at 17:54

Hmm, too bad I can’t play alot then.

Vegito on 19 May 2006 at 19:47

Well uh, I can be an official this year.
I won last season, and have been playing in other JDC seasons as well. Experience shouldnt be a problem ;P. I know how to work with Excel, word or whatever. I’m online a lot, have a good internet connection, I’m able to host, and I’m kind of active at jj2 =P.. That should be everything you need =P
Nice to see JDC coming up again =) This years season will probably be dominated by R3p, Sucer and Grytolle.. One of those players may win, I think :P I wont add myself into the “title fight” though ;p

except for the scoring system, it could be okay. but it isn’t, actually.

thanks danyjel

Yeah the timing is unfortunate for some people, but it can’t be perfect for everyone. Main reason it’s starting when it is, is because in order to get in a good 7 or 8 round season, it has to end before august, since I’ll be away practically the whole month.

DanYjel on 20 May 2006 at 00:22

well sorry but i just think this score system is like “don’t live, win”. When I’ll go to vacation, I’ll lose two weeks. That means the end. Plus more matches you play, more points you have… just my opinion, that’s all.

Vegito on 20 May 2006 at 00:38

well you finally stop gaining points.
And uhm, others will have to go on vacation as well, so they get ‘owned’ too because of that. that makes it fair. yeah, and there ofcourse are some who dont go on vacation at all =] but think twice, I prefer a vacation in the sun over a game myself ;)

snzspeed on 20 May 2006 at 12:33

I will play for sure ;D

NovaStar on 20 May 2006 at 16:04

Oh wait, I think I’m going to Queensland for a week in June! Or is it July? Anyway, I’ll convince my dad to bring a Jazz PC.

Stilettø on 21 May 2006 at 17:18

nice stuff :O hopefully it will be active !

Hareking on 27 May 2006 at 13:44

I only hope that this new season will be active. I will not join, sorry..

Beans:
I put that authentication page up so it’s easier for me to configure the website and test it without other people getting in the way. It will be open to everyone very soon.
