Let’s review it…

It has nice melody. That’s everything.

It uses one stupid piano sample, no rhythm. 43 seconds long. Maybe it could be good, at least listenable, if author used more than one sample, gave rhythm, etc. Now, it’s the worst tune at whole J2O, and that’s unfair. Cause that should be good, after big improvements.

(+) Nice melody
(-) which can’t be well heard because of stupid sample
(-) One sample used
(-) 43 second long
(-) No rhythm

So, if someone is looking for something to remix, this should be good. Else not.

Candion! Carol of the Bells!

I like first 45 seconds. That’s not so much for 4 and half minute remix… After those 45 seconds comes detune. Total nightmare. Then, after 30 seconds it luckily ends. Good piano sample plays 30 seconds, then comes detune, again.

Main background sample is same as original, other (except piano) are bad. And detuned. Rhythm is okay, I like it.

(+) First 30 seconds
(+) Rhythm
(-) Totally detuned samples

Download it if you are musically deaf. So, rather not.

OOMG YOU MADE THIS WITHOUT TELLING ME >(((

The intro to the song was really cool, I liked the way you had the ‘static-y’ carol of the bells (Or whatever the original original was called) start skipping and then be replaced by the real song. The way you had the drums so overpowering at first was a real nice effect, it really showed how much this was a complete takeover.
The old melody is still intact, the same way it was back in ’95, however it had been replaced by an odd combination of overdrive guitar chords, pianos, and… The Slime Time (Sluggion remix) lead? I have often found myself at loss for decent guitar samples as well, however, so I can’t criticize you on that part. Unfortunately, the combination ends up quite a bit off-key in places.
The overall effect of the song was really good, in my opinion. The samples were well chosen and contribute to the overall feeling very nicely. When I reached the mid-point, I thought you were just going to repeat yourself similar to the original Candion, but I was pleasently surprised by the amount of variety in the song. It definitely constitutes an interesting listen.

The final verdict:
The effect of the song could not have been better, it contains just about the perfect amount of variety, but you might want to watch the clashing just a bit. I’d say an 8 and download reccomendation.

Christmas Eve Hangover
Since anyone else seems to lazy to give this battle level by JSZ Jazz a decent review, I seem to have to do it myself. By the way, why did you password it? This is quite annoying for reviewers. Well, whatever. Hold on for a fast review.

EYECANDY: 2.0 out of 2.5
The Holiday Hare 98 Christmas tileset was specially used for this level. JSZ Jazz used this tileset very well for this level: Everyone looks spiffy and I couldn’t notice any major tiling errors. I especially like the well-done backgrounds (featuring the nice Star Wars option) and the paths and houses which also look good. Nothing more to comment.

AMMO: 1.75 out of 2.5
The ammo placement, as given here, is not really good, but not really bad either. Since I couldn’t check out the level with JCS I still have no freaking clue how to get to the darn Seeker Powerup in the right-under corner. Before the other two Powerups get unlocked (Blaster and RF) you first need to collect 20 coins, which could be a big job in a level like this and thus I think that the most used weapon in this level (when many players are around) will be the normal blaster. I’ve noticed two +1 carrots in this level, which is more then enough since you need to do some work before you have hurt someone really bad.

LEVEL STRUCTURE: 1.0 out of 2.0
The structure is perhaps the thing I dislike the most: there are many objects in the level which disrupt the flow and since the level is squared you need to jump much. There are also some effects which kill the gameplay for a small time (like the swing poles) which is another point I dislike. There are not only bad sides with the structure however, there are some nice hidden passageways which carry secret coins or ammo. However, the total is a little bit under-average. Could have been better.

GAMEPLAY: 2.0 out of 3.0
Since the structure is not really good (which I pointed out above) the flow in the level is far from flawless, but since the eyecandy remains OK the level is saved. I don’t really like the music file used in this level, weren’t there any better ones?

RATINGS:
As said above, the level could be fine overall and really a nice Christmas present if the structure didn’t kill the good gameplay experience, now the level is only saved by it’s good eyecandy and decent placement, which improve the gameplay. Next time take more care for a nice structure and good flow and your levels will improve slightly. For now, you’ve got yourself a 6.7.
Score: 2.0+1.75+1.0+2.0 = 6.75 = 6.7
Download: Perhaps, it’s not too bad but I give a N/A download recommendation.
Host: It will probably be hosted during the Christmas server, and that seems to be more then enough.
Greetings,
- ChippieBW

I can’t rate this music any higher as long as half is out of tune. Your production skills have vastly improved since last time, but your musical skills seem to have not. I have said this a few more times before to you, let your music be checked by someone with musical education before uploading it. It really helps. Or read some things on music theory. Having your music in tune is one of the basic things you have to have in your music. Music can be really bad (not talking about yours), but if it’s in tune people will tolerate it. It’s the basis of how music and sound work. Harmony. But this just hurts the ears, while the production of the song is so good! Why are you wasting it with the out of tune parts? It has a really nice start, and it really has potential to be quite good, but sadly, half of it is just really really bad.

I also can’t see why people keep rating this so high.

Danyjel, maybe it is a bit too overrated… Okay… I actually hate the original Dreempipes, and i would give the music about, errr 5.5, because it fits in and stuffz. Okay, here we have an upgraded version of the music, which is better. I wont say too much, im not too bothered to do a long review. But Here we go:
Yesh, Yesh, Yesh, professional like Danyjel said, but not to my standards!

Rhythm:
It is good, it has a nice beat, well so does the original, but yesh, its good. The other Dreepipes remix i have owns (Sarcasm) Well, its just about 5 times faster than the orignal Dreempipes, but this is different. Im not bothered to make a calculation.

Melody:
There are few things that i noticed changed, like the notes (Or was it the instruments?) =P.

Overall:
I don’t like it too much, thats why i think Dany overrated, but get some other reviewers instead of me, I’m just bored so i review stuff, i jus reviewed a few other things (Or will)
Download: Yup to see it
Use: If it really fits…
Learn from: Yes, its well done. So next ppl’s remixes better own!

Sorry about not replying, I got logged off from J2O and didn’t realize it.

The remix was pretty good. I like the electric guitar part, and there is enough variety in the song to keep it interesting. However, the song seemed a little heavy on the percussion, and I couldn’t hear anything other than the annoying drums and the melody. I’d say this would be a great song if you toned the drums down a bit.

I’ll not rate this, because I’ll either bias the rating or get my rating removed due to a not extensive enough review.
