Look at layers 5-8. The two lvls have EXACTLY THE SAME BACKGROUND LAYERS! Look at 1 to 3. The two lvls have EXACTLY THE SAME LAYER SIZE AND LAYER X + Y SPEED!!! Anakin’s lvl hasn’t got the tiles, but it’s obvious he just erased them from This Level Is Untitled. Way to steal a lvl and then not cover up, Anakin. :-P You could’ve gotten away with this if you had just changed a few settings and tiles. :-P

I first downloaded this CTF level, then fired up jj2, ran around the level for a bit in single player…

All the while I was hopping around the level I kept getting the strong feeling of deja vu… Something about it feels so familiar, like the levels layout was made out of that of another. I’m not going to bother talking about stuff like those often ugly b1 edits that only the creatively challenged have to work with. Then it just hit me: I realized that both areas around the blue and red base were designed a lot like “This level is Untitled” by EvilMike. Don’t get me wrong, just because it uses the same tileset doesn’t mean it should look similar. Sure, waste your time and compare the levels if you wish – or just take my word for it.

I am unable to play this level online so I cannot review the level completely. I just wanted to leave this comment. I have nothing further to say.

Very well, were should i start……..

This seems to be an a conversion from a first person shooter game, and i really agree with the other reviews: making an a 3d game conversion is idea what really sucks.but now i have spoken enough.its time to the review.

Tiles:
Very well, there are many “block” tiles, which got good graphic, but those are not drawen by yours.and i wanna say, that you can`t create an a good hotel level with this , so those letters are useless.
Rating:hmmm…3.0

Masking:very well, there is no much saying about masking, because this tileset uses auto mask(at least i think it uses.)and auto masks are so, so stupid idea.

Rating:no rating because of auto mask.
i never rate them.

Overall:
Hmmm………….
its hard to rate this, but i wanna say, that the tileset is not hard to use, and its not hard also, to make an a levels with it.
Rating:3.5

Final rating:3.2

Good luck to your next tilesets!

Yikes, this is kinda scary.

Good Stuff:
- detailed in the copied parts
- pretty easy to use what’s there

Bad Stuff:
- a few misaligned pieces in the top blocks
- colors are extremely limited (browns)
- palette doesn’t match very well (if you want to use that much brown, choose more brown tones/shades/tints in your palette)
- extremely incomplete (vines, hurt, warps, etc…)
- accidentally clear parts (check inclines)
- auto-masking isn’t really a good idea

Sorry, dude, but you should look at a few others and take your time to make a nice set.

Argh this sucks, whee yay.

Okay, now that I’ve got that out of my system, on with the review.

Okay, an UT2K3 tileset by Bunnyelmer. First of all, I have to agree with Lab Rat Kid, that making conversions from a 3D game is generally a bad idea, since I haven’t seen a single good conversion from a 3D game. Second of all, I don’t have UT2K3, so I’m not really able to compare it with the tileset. But alright, here goes.

COLORS:
Most of the tiles look sort of low-quality, and the entire tileset has pretty boring colors; its mostly light brownish. The colors of the background look especialy messy. Not much more to say here.
Pros: None that I can think of.
Cons: Boring, some messy colors.
Rating: 1/5

MASKING:
None to speak of, the entire tileset is auto-masked. NEVER, NEVER auto-mask a tileset.
Pros: once more, none that I noticed.
Cons: Auto-mask. Whee argh.
Rating: 0/5

EXTRA TILES:
Apart from some animated warp thingy that reminds me of MEZ03, a few letters and numbers, some rain and some Level/Tileset by Bunnyelmer thingy, none to speak of. Slopes have been added, though.
Pros: Slopes!
Cons: No vines, destruct blocks, poles, etc.
Rating: 1.2/5

APEARENCE:
This apears to be some sort of Egyptian tomb or temple, with wall painting and the regular stuff. The brick tiles look decent, and so do the painting things. Sadly, I’m afraid that if you’re going to use anything apart from the (pretty ugly) sky background it’s going to be hard to tell the background from the foreground. Also, the sky background doesn’t fit together properly unless you flip it, same goes for the palmtree that, I’m asuming, is ment for layer 5/6/7.
Pros: Most of it looks average/slightly below average.
Cons: The entire thing isn’t exactly gorgeous, and some tiles look rather ugly.
Rating: 2/5

USERFRIENDLINESS:
This tileset seems easy enough to use. Thats for the most part because there’s not much to use, though. ‘Nuff said.
Pros: Easy enough to use.
Cons: None, really.
Rating: 4/5

SIMULARITY TO ORIGINAL GAME:
Can’t say, don’t have it.
Pros: N/A
Cons: N/A
Rating: N/A

OVERALL:
Overall this is a below average conversion. It looks somewhat ugly and dull (though that could partly be blamed on the game it came from… I wouldn’t know), its auto-masked(!!!1111), and has litle to no usefull added tiles.
Pros: Nothing in particular.
Cons: Nice for keeping one amused on a (very) rainy afternoon.
Rating: 2.85

FINAL RATING: 3.0 (rounded)

DOWNLOAD THIS?: Um. No.

Conversions from first person shooters never come out good because one wall tile from that game takes about 8 – 10 on JJ2, so you have to align everything PERFECTLY. It’s no different with this. I won’t rate it because you didn’t even make it a .j2t, there is no mask, and nothing to do but look at a .bmp. I’ll rate if after you make a mask and create a .j2t.

Ok, here goes another review. I like the eyecandy in this level much better than in your last. It’s no so plain anymore. However, gameplay and flow kinda kill the level. Really, get those dead ends out of the level. Placing a warp at their ends will not always do, it makes gameplay a bit confusing and annoying. It’s much better to make openings to other areas in the level. I like the ammo and carrot placement, but like blurred said: don’t hide some of the powerups, especially the RF one can be hard to find for those who never played the level before (in fact, i never found it while betatesting, only just now). At least a part of a pu should be visible, people should at least know it’s there.

Conclusion: this level does need some work, especially on the flow, but it’s better than the last one you uploaded. Just keep going, you’re getting there.[This review has been edited by Enigma]

BunnyElmer made another CTF level. Amazing. It’s slightly better than the last level but no major improvements here.

GAMEPLAY:

The layout might kinda work, but it looks really boring. You placed Blue base much higher than the Red base, which could be a bad idea and can possibly hurt the gameplay. You should maybe try sticking to wider levels in the near future. And a little originality couldn’t hurt too much. I don’t see intense CTF play in this level, but it shows some potential.

EYE CANDY:

Not bad at all. Average and almost lazy in some places. Nothing much to say here.

CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:

The placement the full energy carrot is alright, though a little annoying. Ammo placement isn’t that great, but it’s not bad either. And some of the powerups are hidden. Evil. Try not to do that too often. Just maybe try to make them hard to access instead of hard to find.

HOST THIS OFTEN?

Nah. I would like to give this a 7 but it’s not quite there yet. I’ll give this 6.7 for now. I’ll expect to see much improvement in later levels.

You said this was suppose to be like Blood Bunny’s Lair, right? It’s not as good, but it’s decent.

GAMEPLAY:

You tried modeling the level after BBlair and yet failed somewhere. It’s good enough, but still could be better. For starters BBlair had more warps in it and a little more balance. Maybe some more springs could help with the gameplay; the layout seems a little spaz-biased in places. Try avoiding long areas of flatness (like at the top), especially those without any ammo or anything. It’s almost pointless. You could have also tried checking the masks. There were a few masking errors like at 49,46 and 118,21. They’re small so I guess you could ignore them, but my advice is to always check the masking in the level.

EYE CANDY:

Average. Nothing else to say here.

CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:

The carrot placement is… somewhere between good and bad. The full energy carrot near the top is placed alright, but the one near the bottom seems almost impossible for Jazz to get (except maybe with electro blaster). The ammo placement is… I don’t really know. It’s either in a rectagle shape or in a straight line. Go figure. I have just one question: Am I suppose to be able to get the toaster powerup without the coin warp? Because if I’m not, you should probably fix that.

HOST THIS OFTEN?

Maybe like once. Nothing too special. A 6.7 for this level.

I wouldn’t exactly call this level junk, but there’s some room for improvement though. For a start, you should try to get some more eyecandy in the level. It mainly consists of small and medium-sized platforms, which all look very plain. The tiles fit together, but that’s pretty much it. This level is also very spaz-biased. It wouldn’t be the first, but in this one, jazz players will really have trouble keeping up. The powerups and carrot are well placed though. Unfortunately i can’t say the same for the ammo in some places. I really wouldn’t recommend putting over 50 units of ammo in one single place, and definitely not in 3 different places of the level for 3 different weapons. Other than that, i felt like there were a tad too many seekers in the level. Games might get pretty boring when people never run out of seekers. As for gameplay, i dunno really… the platforms don’t make me feel too well about it, it could use some more normal floors other than just the bottom. Some springs wouldn’t hurt it either (maybe jazz could move around better that way for example). And the music and level don’t fit together too well imho. The regular heck music might be better.

I’d say this is a nice basic level, but it can be improved in a lot of ways.[This review has been edited by Enigma]

BunnyElmer’s love for jumping mentioned in Moonblaze’s post is definitely fact. This level, which obviously draws a great deal of inspiration from Bloodbunny’s “Bloodbunny’s Lair”, contains a heck of a lot of platforms. Generally, I hate platform hopping in Capture the Flag levels, but it isn’t as bad in this level as in some others. Still, I would rather not have to hop from platform to platform. This level suffers from what is admittidely a poor layout. The two capture the flag bases sit on opposite sides of the level, defeating much of the purpose in climbing up and down the perilous “skipping stones” of platforms in order to get to the top part of the level. The only level in which a layout like this really works for me is EvilMike’s “Distopia”, but making a layout like that of Distopia work requires both great skill, a heck of a lot of patience, and a lot more planning than anyone is willing to give a level (except EvilMike). This level’s drawing from Bloodbunny’s Lair is apparent in nearly every single aspect of the level. However, this just ain’t no Bloodbunny’s Lair and you shouldn’t expect it to be that good. The level’s layout is really the part of it that needs the most work, but nothing else about it reaches the high standards that Bloodbunny’s Lair set many moons ago. Eyecandy, while not extremely good, is sufficient enough to prevent the level from looking ugly. Flow, mostly due to the particurally annoying platforms, is bad, especially if you happen to be playing as Jazz. Jazz users will hate this level. Despise it even. This is mostly because of the cumbersome platforms that make it so hard for their bunny to navigate around the level with ease. Double jump really, really, really comes in handy here, and I would recommend playing as Spaz if possible. For Spaz users, layout is probably about average. Nothing to write home about there, unless you are Jazz, of course. Weapon placement is unnotable. There are not too many weapons in this level, which is good, but sometimes there was a bit of a weapon drain. Still, weapon placement was possibly the highlight of this level. As much as my review sounds negative, their are some redeeming factors. It is still a solid level, but nothing more than that. Recommended download and a 6.7 for the CTF freaks out there, but everyone else may want to avoid this Bloodbunny’s Lair-inspired but still borderline average Capture the Flag level by BunnyElmerXD.

I have to agree with MB on most things.
There’s a few things I’d like to add:

-All platforms look the same. That makes it hard to know where you are.
-The navigation sucks, especially for Jazz
-Some dead ends

BunnyElmer likes jumping, fairly much.
This level serious needs more springs, than the few blue ones, there’s alot of places where there should have been a red spring, there because this makes it a bad CTF level, because it’s hard to get around.
Yes, BunnyElmer did choose some nice music, but it’s not likely better than the orginal d*mn song, which evryone has when hosting.
Red rox at defending their base because it’s harder get in and out at their base, while on the blue base you just sweep in on a blue spring, that does alot difference on which team you’r on.
I don’t like the way you grap the powerups very well, and I’d say electro blasters should have been placed in the level, instead of using bounchers all the time.
Also, it’s a very open CTF level, TOO open, there’s a lot of empty space in the level, and when going up in the level, you folow the platforms from right to left, then left to right, that’s not something for a CTF level, sinice you make a kind of death end by do it like that.
The eyecandy is lazy, there aren’t enough eyecandy on the platforms, and most of the platforms dosen’t even have eyecandy. That makes the level work anymore empty than it already did.
Overall, this is a empty CTF level, and not really wroth download.
Work more thought on your levels.
