Nice level really, I made a king of the hill level which is the one you speak of I guess. I think this is nicely done however I would like to give you some advice. As it appears to me if you are pushed off you can just spring back on. Well I think there should be some sort of time delay or coin loss as a punishment. But that is just my opinion… if you saw mine then I guess you would know what I mean (falling results in 50 coin loss etc)

Oops… I didn’t realize that. Umm… I’ll tell you as soon as it is uploaded. Wow, I am actually impressed with the rating, believe it or not, it’s the highest I’ve gotten so far. Proves I must be good if I can take a generally low-rated idea and get it rated 5 times that. I do realize it’s small, but maybe 5 people could play.

Ok, it’s updated. I also improved the eye candy a bit.[This review has been edited by mikeejimbo]

Koth is because it stands for (K)ing °f (t)he (H)ill.

I didn’t notice the chain, I thought it ended at either end of the level.

The coins regenerate quickly so that you try to knock people off as fast as possible. And I don’t see anything wrong with the placement.

I also don’t see the problems with the castle tiles. They all seem to fit together pretty well to me. Except possibly the windows.

Let me recheck these things. What can I do about ammo placement? [This review has been edited by mikeejimbo]

And of course it’s easy to complete. It’s the other players that are to provide the competition.[This review has been edited by mikeejimbo]

Actually, I did see yours, (Evil Tax Machine.) I think I might take that advice, but mine was supposed to be simpler, with a small battle for control that keeps the “winning” player on their toes.
I think I may take your advice…[This review has been edited by mikeejimbo]

I can’t believe you made something like King of the Hill after it rated so low. Anyway, I thought this was a nice level. Very small, but the idea is good. However, it wouldn’t work in multiplayer since there is no “End warp” event, it’s a single player “Area end of level” event. Soooo… there’s my suggestion. Make it actually multiplayer compatible. I could see how this would be fun, there is nothing wrong with the eyecandy for the most part.
Download? If MikeeJimbo makes an update so you can actually play it, yes.

Update, 5.5 because he fixed bugs.[This review has been edited by labratkid]

At least I’m improving.

But I have to admit, I don’t see these problems like you do. I think it has a layout you could have fun with, as long as you had friends playing with you. It may be a little small, but so was Violet’s Scrapap example battle level.

Yeah, but my point was that is was an OK battle level all the same. Thanks for the encouragement! It’s more then I got from most people. Looking over it again, I saw some blending problems.

I do think that most of my castle tiles fit together now, and I changed layer 8 to look better, and I got rid of layer 5 because it didn’t look good. I changed some layout, and I hope you will re-review.

I’ll rate this the usual way…

Tileset use: probably the worst part of this level. Tiles didn’t fit together well, and you see dozens of bugs at erevy part of the level.

Event placement: Basicly a few weapons, that weren placed averagly.

Layout: When I saw it in JCS, I first thought it would be good. The layout seemed interresting. But once I played the level, I was actually disapointed. The layout is actually pretty bad.

Eyecandy: just average.

More pros or cons:
-pros: none
-cons: layer 8 was bad.

No download reccommmandation.

A whole load of levels, most of it bad or at least below average. I won’t take the time to rate evrything sepparatly, at least not now. Maybe some other time.

A few advices:
1-don’t upload TOO much levels at once, since most of us rate it all sepparatly. Don’t make it more than 15 next time. (15 is a LOT, but still reasonnable.)
2-Make sure the stuff is FINISHED. What’s the idea of uploading unfinished stuff? You won’t get good ratings like this.

I won’t rate this, since it would take hours to check evrything out.

Eyecandy was horrible, all most as bad as my sister’s old levels.
There was a lot of originality, though. There were no copied ideas, and many new ones.
The levels weren’t very fun, but I can tell the author just uploaded these for fun.

TILESET/TILESET USE: This pack uses Labrat for one of the levels (presumably the unfinished one), and Tubelectric Day for the other three. I can not say I paticularly like the eyecandy in any of the levels. The tubelectric levels are probably the best in the eycandy department, as it’s hard to mess up its background eyecandy, but the walls are still messed up (and some of the shading). The Labrat level is just tile buggyness.
Pros: The sucker tubes fit together, some other things work.
Cons: Not nearly enough work here (“You shouldn’t really have too much” indeed)
Rating: 3.0

WEAPON/ITEM/BASE PLACEMENT: Let’s go over these in order. Weapons were very sparse, and the items consisted of carrots laying here and there. I personally would advise replacing two carrots together with a full energy carrot in CTF, but oh well, to each their own. As for the bases (in the levels that were CTF), they were ok, semi-opposite ends of the level. Still, I felt they could have used some work.
Pros: Ok bases, ok carrots.
Cons: Little more then ok, sparse weapons.
Rating: 4.2

GAMEPLAY/DESIGN: The levels have varying design. The Tubelectric levels (two of which are the same level only one with CTF bases) consist of a bunch of rooms connected with small passages, sucker tubes, or annoying warps. No, not like in Auqa Zone or Rat Race. The Labrat level is a bunch of tiny platforms with money where you buy shields and powerups (more on that later). I really can not say I like the design for any of these levels, except for TubeCTF.j2l which is kind of ok.
Pros: TubeCTF kind of ok, some saving graces.
Cons: Most of the levels are substandard, not enough freedom of movement.
Rating: 4.0

REPLAY VALUE/FUN FACTOR: You could have some fun here, but I’m unsure enough to not give any rating to this factor.

OVERALL (not an average): This section doubles as a bug report. The main problems (other then the levels themselves) are that not one of the levels has a working next level setting (several don’t even have anything put in), and that in the Labrat level, if you buy the bouncy powerup you’re pretty much able to get all of the other things for sale without paying. The walls are just that thin, and there’s nothing preventing you from shooting through the sucker tubes. Anyway, the levels aren’t too good. Work more on eyecandy, scrap the Labrat level and fix up the two double levels a bit and I might rate this higher.
Pros: Some things are good.
Cons: And some things aren’t.
