Bah, another singleplayer of masterrokusho… I feel it’s my duty to review this crap, so:

EYE ABUSEMENT:
Well, it’s hard to call this eyecandy, not? Ah well. Let’s do this. Boring back/foreground. Only 1 tiles for background, not other layers, and just 1 kind of tile in the foreground layer. Next time makes this level at least a bit enjoyable for the eyes of the player.

AMMO / ENEMIES:
No sense makes the ammo placement here. There are two boxes with RF and Toast, and a Toast PU, placed on unlogical places. Now about the enemies: they are a laughter in the beginning. Just do a sidekick with spaz and all those turtle bosses are dead. The ending is too hard, too many bosses on one spot. Not really good, seems noobish to me.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
Bad. It is maybe even a bit surprsing to me that there are two paths in this level, one which takes you down with a suckertube (amazing, he knows how to use these!) and the other one going straight up to the bosses. The suckertube path only leads you to a few other turtles, no more. Then it takes you back by another corridor. The placement of an airboard at the end is OK, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to beat the bosses at all (not that you can beat them now, but OK)

GAMEPLAY:
Not what you can call gameplay here, the enemies are maybe funny for n00bs, but they suck. Next time make good levels, and longer then this crappo.

A 8.7??

Well, I guess there are a lot of reasons why this level may never get a 8.7…

EYECANDY:
Well, what can I say about this… The eyecandy didn’t ever impressed me, I guess it just annoyed me sometimes (as an example placing sprite layer tiles in the background etc.) Also the background is divided in two parts: one normal part, and one part which has clouds in it. This looks really weird. In total, not really good eyecandy, not really much bugs though.

AMMO:
About this thing I can be really short: THERE IS NO AMMO IN THE ENTIRE LEVEL! This is an enormous mistake, because now all you do is shooting the foes with a blaster. The only pickups are some useless fruits. Needs much work in the next level.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
Confusing in the normal level, because the sprite layer eyecandy is placed in the back. Could have been a lot better. Another big point of critism is the start of the level. Becasue of the storyline, you are not allowed to play with Spaz. Actually I always play with Spaz, so I scrolled 2 hours through my HCL list before I found the level, started it, and I read “You can’t play with Spaz” OK, I thought could be possible. So I rejoined with Jazz, and I jumped into the Jazz’ narrow. Stuck on a morph crate. Hoppa, back to the HCL list and scrool two hours before I found the level and could rejoin. This really made me angry. Finally I joined with Lori and the level started normally. Bah.

GAMEPLAY:
Thanks to this crappy start I lost the spirit of playing the whole level. The level itself also doesn’t play really good, lots of wooden buildings where you can get stuck in and enemies you can;t see while you play. The structure is also weird, you don’t really see the path you need to take.

————
RATINGS
————
Well, I hope I made clear why this level never may get a 8.7. To fix it a little bit up, I give this a 5. The eycandy is reasonable, but the ammo and structure suck. Needs a lot of work in the next level.

Score: A 5.0 from me, as I said.

Let’s see this level:

EYECANDY:
Mmmm. I don’t really like this eyecandy here, but it’s not really the fault of NiQ. He did the best thing with it what is possible, but the tileset SUCKS in my opinion. It’s far too bright, and the background hurts my eyes when I play the level too long. Also, there is o floor placed beneath the bases, but it looks like. I don’t like it when a base doesn’t stand on vast floor. For the rest the eyecandy is decent, not much wrong.

AMMO:
Actually not bad. It’s an original idea indeed to let the TNT do the explode things near the powerups, it’s something else then the usual EB. In total, the eyecandy is decent.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
Maybe this is where the real problems lie. The level is a little bit claustrophobic, with narrow corridors and a lot of sucker tubes. The makes the level a bit boring, and it lets the player more watch then play. Maybe make the level more open next time.

GAMEPLAY:
I didn’t really liked the level when I played it, maybe because the annoying background is hurting my eyes, I don’t really like the sucker tube use and the music. However, the is a certain feeling when you play this level, a felling of sewers… the flavour is good.

————
RATINGS
————
For some reasons I can’t give this level higher then a 7.5, maybe because there a a lot of things I don’t like about it. However, the level is innovating in some ways, like the TNT PU destruction, I’ve never seen that before. Maybe some more space next time?

Mmm… Let’s check out this new level of Dx, which will be my first race review… I have to change some points in my usual review I guess.

EYECANDY:
Standard Dx quality. For your convenience, this means GOOD. Dx knows how to use the Swamps tileset, and he can make really good levels wiht it (look at his survivors) In the beginning of the level, the eyecandy is really superb, but later I think he didnt have the spirit anymore to make more eyecandy, so he kept it simpler in the later parts of the level. The background is a little bit dull, just the brown tress. The tileset offers better, I guess.

FLOW:
The important thing in a Race level, how good is the flow? You can’t make it racelevel without a good flow, it slows down the gameplay and makes it boring. For race, a really good flow is needed to keep the game funny. The flow here is decent, There is enough open space to move and there are no big slowdowns which kill the flow (except the annoying blue spring maybe, but this is part of the game I guess) Overall, the flow is good enough, not the best.

GAMEPLAY:
And how does the game feel, really? Not that good. I’ve seen better race levels, but I’m not really a lover of the genre, so I accept it. The blue spring really kills a lot of the speed, but it makes the game more fun to play, especially in multiplayer (which player will get through the corrdidor first?) The gampelay is not bad, not really good. Maybe the dull eyecandy in later parts of the level help, and the music simply doens’t fit a race level (it’s far too slow and boring)

————
RATINGS
————
Not a bad attempt to create a race game, however, if the eyecandy in the later parts of the level was more interesting and the flow was a little bit better, this level could get rated way higher. Now, it’s somewhere in the middle-class.

Score: a 7.0.
Download: Yes, if you like race.

Let’s chech this new SkulL level out (I’m still in shock therapy about your sucking last level, so let’s see this one)

EYECANDY:
Not good. Actually, it is bad. However not as bad as in your previous level, that was created with some green tileset without a background, this still suxes. It has many tile errors, like R3ptile said, in the mountains, and on some other places. In the sprite layer not so many bugs.

AMMO:
Three kinds of average ammo are spread among dull places at the level, I guess it could have been a lot better. There are two worthless PU’s, a bouncy and a RF. Next time give more inspiration to this weapon placement.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
Bad, really bad. The level is really small, like your previous one, and is doesn’t have any speical things. The level would have been better if you could walk around in it, because there owuld have been two different paths by then, but now you only have one route from one base to another and this route is suxing (the blokcs you have to jump on are idiotic, blablabla) The strcuture is boring, and the sad eyecandy doesn’t make it any better.

GAMEPLAY:
What gameplay, was the first question I asked myself here. Not a bad question I guess, because the good gameplay is far to seek here. There isn’t hardly any flow, and the missing to pborder makes the level vulnerable for flag bugs. Maybe use a btter tileset next time.

————
RATINGS
————
I’m NOT impressed, and this is the softest thing I can say about this level. Although, this level is better than your last one (which isn’t really hard, you couldn’t make it any worse) but really NOTHING more than that. If you go on like this, you levels will make a great deal on a World Champsionship of Worst CTF Levels Created in 2004.

Dx goes on with prudcing Ground Force levels! Another review, this time for a pack:

THE GEMS
The first level of the pack. The eyecandy is good, as known in Dx’levels it’s well belanced and used well. The ammo placemnet is sufficeint, and the level strcuture is really funny, because you get pumped through a sucker tube when the game starts. There are points in the level who aren’t that good actually, I mean the shootable bloks. Some blocks can’t be shot and explode when you run over it. Besides this, this is a good survivor level, although not the best in the pack.

STRANGE BLOCKS
Again, the eyecandy is reasonable, not as good as in the other levels in the pack, I guess. The ammo placement is good, and the level is simpelr then the others. I guess this is the owrst level in the pack, becuase it is a little bit boring, but it’s still definately not bad. It’s smaller than the other Ground Force levels that Dx created, the same thing for the other levels in the pack, they are also smaller then usual.

CRAZY LAVA
The third level in the pack is made with the Carrotus Lava tileset, and the eyecandy surely looks good. The gameplay is decent, probalby a little bit better than the previous two levels in the pack. For now the best level in the pack, because the gamplay and ammo placement are quite good. Now let’s finish this review with the last level in the pack:

SOFT GROUND
How surprising! A jungle Ground Force level in a Dx level pack! =) We all know that Dx prefers the Agma jungle tileset, and he usually makes good levles with it. The same thing goes for this level. The eyecandy is really good, I guess the best eyecandy of all levels in the pack. The ammo placemtn and gameplay are also the best, so I can say that the best level of this pack is this one, the last level.

THE SCARY TEMPLE
OMG LOL SUX! I forgot to review this level in my first review! Well, here it comes: The yecandy is not as good as in the other levels in the pack, it is a little bit bored (maybe because of the tileset use, which is MEX0*, and it foffers not so good eyecandy) so it looks more like Blur’s levels, wherein the eyecandy also isn’t so good. The gameplay is quite good, except in singleplayer, because the destruct sux there. Nevermind this, the gameplay is good, so is the level itself. Not as good as the other levels though. This last level doens;t change the rating anyway.

————
RATINGS

Dx did it again, he made another good Ground Force pack, and I think he is in the top 3 of best Ground Force level creators. Maybe use some of his levels in the next JDC, during a Ground Force event.

NEXT TIME PLEASE INCLUDE THE TILESET BEFORE YOU PUT A LEVEL UP!!!

Ah, well, I had the tileset already, so I can review this…

EYECANDY:
Really good! This level contains good layers, good backgrounds and good sprite layers. You really don’t have to improve you eyecandy anymore in your later levels. Maybe some other points, though. The moving background can sometimes be annoying when you run around.

AMMO:
No powerups! I don’t want to say anything, but in my opinion you can’t make a decent battle level without placing any powerups. The ammo is hard to find; it’s located at not so many places in the level. And there is just 1 carrot which gives you +1, something that fits with this level. If you want to kill someone here you have to play long games.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
The structure of the level is a little weird, and thanks to the good eyecandy you can’t move around that good. Soem corridors are too narrow to move through, and the blue floors which close when you run at them are strange…

GAMEPLAY:
Could have been a lot smoother. You can’t reall ymove around that good, because of the narrow corridors and weird floors and jumps, and there is actually no flow. Improve that in your next levels, please.

————
RATINGS
————
When I first opened the level I thougth: Wow! What a great eyecandy, this must be a fantastic level! But when I played the level, I saw that there are many things missing in the gameplay… I can say this is a level with really good eyecandy, but with a mediocre gameplay. And after all, the gameplay is more important than the eyecandy.

Score: a 6.7 from me.

I cant actually review this level, because it’s in fact no level, just a trainer…

Ill keep it short for now. The eyecandy is not so good, only layer 8 and 4 are used, and the sprites in layer 4 are not well placed. The enemy trainer is quite funny, but you could have given it something extra, I mean something by making a complete level with an end to it. Now it’s a little bit boring, watching those enemy’s fall and roast them again… The level strcuture is a little wierd, it took me a while to find out how to get to the airboard.

ADVICE:
If you like to preactice offline aganist enemies, this can be a good level, otherwise, never play it. There are better trainings available.

I saw this one in Winner’s server, so let’s see…

EYECANDY:
Not bad, but I’ve seen better in NiQ’s levels… Galactic Warfare had much better eyecandy. Anyways it’s not bad, although sometimes a little bit confusing (ground tiles in background, so you see it like a dead end)

AMMO:
Good placement. There are three PU’s: Seek, RF and Toast, which is satisfying for someone like Winner =) and also the other ammo is spread well among the level. Good balance, just like the Carrot which is in the middle of the level.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
The level is symmetrical and well balanced (I wonder why so many people make levels symetric, it’s kind of boring) But the level is good. Lots of sucker tubes though, which is boring sometimes.

GAMEPLAY:
There is really a good low in the level, which is the best part about the level, I guess… You can easily run and jump around the smooth level and taking ammo is easy.

It’s really hard to judge this, but I’ll try:

EYECANDY:
Why are people still using this tileset, and why so often last time? I don’t know, but I know the tileset sucks ass, with so lousy graphics… anyway, the eycandy is not so good. Sprite layer tiles are used in foreground, so you can’t really see where to walk on. The other graphics are also not so good.

AMMO:
Reasonable: no PU’s, no carrots, and a few crates. Also a few soda pops, but they aren’t really necessary.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
I tested this level in single player, and I guess that’s the only way it worked, because IT HAS NO MULTIPLAYER START POS! FOO! Fix this plz, so that it can be tested online. Otherwise, the structure sux a bit, because the sprtie foreground and other things.

GAMEPLAY:
Mwa. It’s not good, because the sucky foregroudn use, and it’s a little bit frustrating to move around.

AMMO:

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
Very similiar to the last one, but it’s just that little bit better which makes it more funny to play. It’s again big, maybe a little less bigger then the previous (or does that come because i was expecting it to be big this time?)

Good/okay. You used good background layers, and the foreground is interesting. Although, some tiles in the sprtie layer are wrong placed, and the mud is sometimes a little bit boring.

AMMO:
Good ammo placement: three PUs: Toast, Seek and Bounce. The seeker PU is not to be found, but not’s not so bad. The ammo is placed well, not team-biased, and the full NRG carrot is good to reach.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
The level is symmetrically, good structure, and nicely divided. Not much wrong, except the sucky base entrances. You have to concentrate on one spot to enter them, so you can not really run through them.

Reasonable. The ammo is most in boxes, sometimes in normal form. There are a few easy enemies in the level, and two lives, next to each other! Bad.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
Why has none of your levels a decent ending? The previous ended in a loop, and this one too. It’s quite frustrating and sucky. Besides, the level isn’t closed at some places, so you fall down into nothing. This is really not good.

EYECANDY:
Mwa. You used a very nice tileset (personally my favorite) and there is some eyecandy, but a few tiles are misplaced and you didn’t used the backgrounds layers 6,7 like in example Marshland.

AMMO & PICKUPS:
Maybe a little too less weapons in the beginning, but I don’t really know if that’s good or not. The ammo is used well, good TNT triggers.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
The level is a little bit too big for a decent Ground Force. By the way it’s not easy too hide for other players in the level, because you can see the whole broadness of the level at once. Its a good level if you like long games though, and you can’t get kicked out easily so you don’t have to wait years for the next level.

EYECANDY:
Very hard to say somethign about the eyecandy. There isn’t hardly any decent eyecandy in this level, except some clouds in the back and the foreground, but these are only confusing. It’s almost a rape of the tileset by using this low eye candy.

AMMO:
What? No seeker powerup? LETS EXTRACT FIVE POINTS FROM THE TOTAL RATING!!! Nah, I don’t want to go that path, I respect Winner’s opinion of hating the seeker. By the way, it’s some kind of lazy weapon after all. Well: about the ammo in the level: Not bad. Not too much powerups, not too much ammo. Except the fact that there are four carrots in the level (1 full and 3 of one heart) which I call too much. One of both would have been more then enough. Also there’s a shield in the level (you can reach it by getting 50 coins of one cold coin respawning) so I don’t tkae it too bad, but I hate shields.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
The level is semi-symmetrical, and quite big. There are a few events in the level which could make the gameplay better, but the levle itself is too empty. Maybe next time you make the level a little bit smaller, with some more events?

GAMEPLAY:
Not that bad. There is quite a good flow in this level, and you can run around it well. Sometimes however the corridors are too short or too narrow to navigate correctly.

EYECANDY:
Bad. Very bad. In fact, you can ask yourself the question: is there any eyecandy in this level? I would answer this question with a “no”. The only thing in this level that can be called eyecandy is the background, but the tiles are misplaced so it looks terrible. Next time, try to add some more layers to the level!

AMMO:
Not well placed. In the battle-part of the level it is quite reasonable, but in the CTF part it sucks. All ammo is sticked together in one spot, including 6(!) full carrots, which is far too much and unnecessary.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
The idea of a battle and a CTF part is original, I must admit that, and it can be fun if you improve it some more. The structure of the level is sux: in CTF you have to run around 600 corridors before you are at the flag spot and in battle you have a sugar rush, which is weird.
